I need some advice on D.O.F with the canon sx220. I have CHDK installed but only got it working last night so all the settings are new. The highest f setting on the sx220 is 3.1, is there any way I can change this to lower the D.O.F in my pictures?. I notice that your background in the video is really good so can i do this with my photos?. If so how other than using MF?. Any advice would be great & great video. Thanx in advance..DM
Fantastic, the only thing that still keeps me from replacing my Canon Ixus 300hs from this one is the know the battery duration while recording 1080p, as I see the image quality is as good as mine. Mine lasts around 40minutes recording 720p video, how about this one? thank you very much.
Is there any way to lower the bitrate, so as to record longer movies ? 35Mb/s limits the recording length for an individual movie to a little more than 14 min. before the files reaches the maximum of 4GB allowed in FAT32 ; likewise, from what I've read, in 720p mode that limit is reached in 20min, whereas the theoric limit is 29'59, and in 640x480 in 43min instead of 60 in theory. I hope it's wrong, as I dread the huge amount of data I'll have to process and store if I buy this camera !
@TK8177 I finally bought a used Panasonic ZS3 (american version, known in Europe as TZ7) for 180 euros : it lacks manual controls (ZS7 for that), but otherwise it's exactly what I wanted, pictures are very good and it can record AVCHD videos seamlessly until the card is full or the battery empty, so with one battery it's supposed to take 90 minutes in a row in 1280x720 (I don't need 1080). No recent camera comes close. (The Panasonic TZ20 has a limit of 29'59min worldwide, as the Sony HX9V.)
wow, thats amazing video quality for its price!
1. - saturation+1 sharpness+1 - are this settings in-camera or you added them later?
2. Is there a manual focus mode for video?
3. Please, can u upload some original footages? whant to see how they look without youtube's compression
Thanks a lot!

@idiosyncrazy1980 35Mbit/sec constant, and can't be lowered. You will need a good computer in order to process and edit, and a large hard disk ;)

right, sx220 is sold only in europe and is the same as sx230 but wihout GPS
and right again, citizen ecodrive is great :)

Nice video. :) I'm planning on getting the SX230. I don't need the GPS feature but it seems like the SX220 isn't sold here in the states.
Good choice on the Citizen Eco-Drive watch too. I've had mine for over 10 years and not having to change out a battery has been great.
Thanks
