I Woke Up The Next Morning And My Step Dad Told Me They Killed Bin Laden.I Didnt Beleive Him And Turned On The T.V Set And I Forgot What Channel It Was, And It Had Seth Myers Saying Some Joke About His Death And It Felt Like A Million Christmas Presents Were Handed To Me.
I remember I was watching this game in the brazilian ESPN and the broadcasters initially thought that it was a joke from the US broadcasters and even laughed. But when they've got the news that it actually happened, they apologized with the audience here in Brazil and the American people.
I assume this was a much happier reaction by the fans then when they broke in 1980 with news on ABC's Monday Night Football that John Lennon had been killed. Obviously with John Lennon it was a tragedy but I note this because both were announced as "Breaking News from ABC News Reports" during a sporting event.
Like almost everything that has happened the past ten years or so, I had many different emotions. I jumped off the couch when I heard this and had to rewind it so my dad could hear it. I was hoping that this would happen eventually. I eventually got overwhelmed with all the reports that came after this and cried. There are no words that can describe all that we have felt the past ten years not really knowing how to deal with all that Osama created. I am glad that we are starting to end it.
@endlessmountain First off.. Your link failed.. Second.. Your going to use Science and Logic that he is fake? Im not even going to waste another comment on you!
@92socal Google Search "WTC7 BBC" that prooves it. Please wake up with other things like how money is created because that one is more important today during our awesome economic collapse
I'll always remember sitting there, at home in Los Angeles, with my scorecard, rooting the Mets on...
And then learning THIS...
It was a great game that night, a 13-inning nail-biter that ended with NY winning on the night it was avenged...
But it's another case of baseball being at its best when the game is secondary...
THIS was a moment that transcended sport...hearing the crowd chant "USA! USA!" together, Mets and Philly fans alike...
THAT is the kind of nation we should strive to be!

This reminded me of when Howard Cosell announced John Lennon's death (not as sad of course).
nick4572 10 months ago
@nick4572 Not as sad? So you were sad that bin laden died?
92socal 6 months ago
@92socal why would one be sad when a fictional person dies? at least a fictional story. It's not there is any pure evidence he did anything bad.
