GTAIV PC - How To Use Command Lines with Steam

Might be a dumb question but, do I leave the shortcut IN the gta iv folder? Or use it to launch the game?

Every time I try to play this gave an error pops up saying "GTA IV FATAL ERROR: Windows Vista: Need to have Service Pack 1 or higher to proceed." Someone please help me. By the way I have Windows 7.

guys im just wondering should i just buy pc games from retail stores (walmart, gamestop) or should i use steam cause ive heard about it crashing a lot and many ppl getting hacked and im new to pc gaming cause im about to get into it. when u buy the game from like walmart how do u play online like does the cd have its own servers

Third, when i do eventually get on to the game, all the copyright shit comes up and followed by the rockstar yellow logo, then blue logo, then GTA 4 logo itself but after that i get a black screen and about 20 seconds later it says GTA 4 has encountered a problem and needs to close.

I have followed your steps and added the:

-safemode -nomemrestrict -norestrictions

command lines but still nothing.

Any help will be great thank-you.

Can some1 help. I purchased GTA 4 through steam. First, I have to kill securom by using a programme called secubegone, otherwise nothing will start.

Second if i do ever finally get onto the game it makes me re-send the activation code all the time due to securom being deleted everytime i start it.

it's because of my territory, Hong Kong has like 25% less games available on Steam than any other territory.

We don't have BioShock on Steam :(

ok quick question. ive asked a lot of people if my computer can run this game and lots of people said my cpu would hold me back. seeing as you have the game could you help me. my spec is:

i got an amd turion mobile X2 2.2ghz and i can run the game properly at 20FPS at lowest settings

Yea your CPU will hold you back.

I also recommend a Nvidia 9800GT for proper good quality performance.

Remember GTA 4 requires high end PC's to play with very good quality picture and performance. Even on some good grahpics cards you can hover around the 50FPS mark which is good but I still like heading up to 80-100FPS.
