  • I heard this laugh once again this evening and it gave me the chills and the lols simultaneously.

  • They say the Joker's origins are unknown, but we know. It's Luke Skywalker, gone insane from being teleported to Batman's dimension.

  • Like an instrument lol

  • Comment removed

  • @VonKhazar Wow Good eye! I didn't notice that!

  • No one beats Hamill's Joker. Because no one knows the Joker like him. I bet when as a kid, Hamill had the Killing Joke, the Man Who Laughs and many other Batman comics with Joker

  • Mark Hamill's Joker will always be the best. Especially with that laugh. It's horrifying and awesome at the same time.

  • Am I the only one who kept clicking 0:45?

  • Mark Hamill is and always will be the best Joker!

  • mARK HAMill

  • It's a laugh that always brings a smile to my face.

  • i laugh JUST like the joker himself XD

  • His best laugh ever: 0:34.

  • isnt this luke

  • In my opinion the best laugh was on 0:22

  • @tupacthug4life in my opinion the best laughs were the ones between the joker's first laugh and his last laugh.

  • 00:42 these laughs are HILARIOUS!!!!!

  • 12 people don't know pure genius.

  • @KitaraStrife - Truer words have never been spoken.

  • I find it funny that Mark Hamill's two most famous roles have him as the Galaxy's Greatest Hero and the world's most evil villain. I kind of like that. BTW, after DC universe online and Arkham Asylum 2, that's it. He's no longer doing the Joker. Which is fine, he may feel that he needs to do other stuff. Personally, I think Harrison Ford should get the picture and stop doing Indiana Jones movies.

  • @TheZacula He also plays Firelord Ozai in Avatar: The Last Airbender.

  • @TheZacula Also Mark takes in a lot of energy to just do the voice and he just can't do it anymore. Which is fine we will always love ya Mark!

  • @TheZacula Hamil also wanted to go out on a high note. A lot of his stuff as joker he thinks he can't top, and doesn't want to try, cause he's afraid he'll mess up.

  • The laugh he does as he leaves the copyright office in the Laughing Fish terrifies me to this day.

  • I read a magazine article once where Mark was describing a somewhat typical day out for him. Kid says " Holy crap its the guy who does the Joker" Parent says " Holy crap it's Luke Skywalker!" He also said he makes people turn around when he does the voice of the Joker because it would be WRONG for Luke Skywalker to be talking like the Joker.

  • Luke Skywalker is the joker...i KNEW IT

  • I would love if Mark Hamill got cast in the new batman movie as the Joker.

He could totally pull it off, and it would be nothing less than amazing.

  • so does anyone know why mark is retiring from voicing the joker???

  • @thebuckrogers22 Imalmost 100% sure he is joker in arkham asylum 2.....but he said that he can't do the laugh as well as he used to......its gotta be strenuous ya know?

  • @THo22 yeah he is coming back for aa2, he is also coming back for this really kickass dc online game with the justice league man u have to really check it out, i mean it is cool as hell. i think it is called, search DC Universe Online Exclusive Who Do You Trust Trailer HD. he changed his voice a lil for it so did kevin for batman. which yeah i bet it is hard to keep the same voice after 20 yrs. i mean kevin barely sounds dark anymore

  • @thebuckrogers22 the games going to be called arkham city

  • @thebuckrogers22 yeah i saw that joker was pissed when he saw batman about to be killed he was all like " NO ONE KILLS THE BAT BUT ME" and fires a rocket at deathstroke . oh and lex killed superman lol it was funny .. then brainiac showed up and lex was all oh shit im screwed so he went back in time and told batman wonderwomand and superman that he messed up and killed them in the future and is back towarn them about brainiac (who is far stronegr then he once was

  • @thebuckrogers22

He's tired of the role, plus his throat takes damage from the laugh nowadays.

  • mark hamill & kevin conroy this two rocks!!!!

  • Mark will be playing Joker the last time in the next Arkham game. T_T

  • Vader: I am your father.

    Luke: HAAHAHAHHAHAHA!!!!

    Vader: f*ck you!

  • Mark Hamill you are awesome. He has the best Joker laugh ever. I would have never thought Luke could play Joker.

  • Mark loled.

  • Luke: HMhmhmh... AAAAAAAAH AHAHAHHAHAAAAH HAHAHAHAHAHA!

    Emperor: What in the?!?!!

    Vader: Disturbing... really disturbing...

    Luke: UEHEHHAAHHAHAAHAHAAAH HAHAHAAAAAH!

    GO MARK! YAAAAY! JEHEHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHH!

  • The Joker does this a lot LOL!!!

  • if Luke Skywalker ever turned to the Dark Side of the Force, he should laugh like that.

  • Hamill such a great character actor. Very underratted.

  • 0:57 It almost looks like he's about to say "Wait. What?"

  • When I heard Luke Skywalker was the Joker, my mouth seriously stayed down for a few minutes because I was so shocked.

  • who knew?!

  • k...?

  • If I had to choose Mark Hamill to have never done Luke Skywalker or The Joker, I'd choose Luke in a heartbeat. Maybe then Mark Hamill wouldn't have been type-casted and everyone who's never seen/ heard him in anything else could learn to embrace his awesomeness.

  • LMAO The ominous and intimidating Joker laugh done by Mark Hamill was always my FAVORITE one. If I ever were to meet the Joker in a dark alley and he came to me laughing like that, I would laugh so hard and then pee my pants in fright.

  • @angelisoncrack:

*shudders* If the Joker came up to me in a dark alley and laughed his ominous, intimidating laugh ( Mark Hamil one, mind you), I would not laugh at all. I'd probably get a heart attack and pass out from fear.

  • He sure has improved his acting since Star wars

  • @katten838 No...that's not true...THAT'S IMPOSSIBLE!!!!

  • This is what happens if Luke Skywalker ever fall into the dark side.

  • Mark Hamill's awesome.

  • "Look at that guy, laughing maniacally in his car."

    ...heheh

  • Mark Hamill FTW.

The one and only Joker voice.

Heath Ledger doesn't count. Hamill is the comic version incarnate. Ledger made up his own Joker--no less brilliant, but on a completely different level. More criminally chaotic, less comically maniacal.

  • why do you think he played cocknocker on bluntman and chronic?

  • You know, I have no idea. I'd like to know, though. Maybe Smith just asked him for fun. Man, now I wanna go look this up....

  • @Koru Still, Hamill is leagues better than Ledger. His Joker used Joker Venom which is actually a bit worse than death. His laugh can range from being silly to downright scary and intimidating.

  • @zabimaru1000 I really don't think it's fair to compare them. So many of Joker's incarnations were drastically different, each of them brilliant in their own ways. In the animated world, I do believe that Mark Hamill is insurmountable as the Joker. In the movie world, though, it's hard to say which Joker was the 'best'. However, I did love Ledger's unique performance, and maintain that he, and not Throat Cancer, was the start of that movie.

  • @Koru John DiMaggio delivered a surprisingly strong performance. He understands how much the laugh means and keeps the character just as menacing. Look him up in "Under the Red Hood."

    /watch?v=9qOdggdLPLM

  • 0:45 Joker at his best!!

  • Joker : Luke, I am your father.

  • no, mark hammil was the one who got his hand cut of and screamed NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!1

  • Why so serious, father?

  • Do you know how I got those scars, Leia?

  • My father was....an asthmatic and a sith lord.

  • the Joker was the choisen one, haha

  • I think you mean that the Joker was our only hope.

  • he was supose to destroy the sith and bring balance to the force, not join him ;)

  • No dude you have the wrong character. Mark played that character's son.

  • haha I know mark hamill was luke, but it was a nice speech.. and anakin was the choisen one

  • didn't he actually make that joke in the cartoon?

  • Mark Hamill, Jack Nicholson, Heath Ledger...

    The Joker.

    In that respective order.

    <3

  • And don't forget, Cecar Romero.

  • Mark Hamill's Joker is my favourite I think. For a kid's cartoon show, he is a terribly psychotic character and still scares me to some degree even now that I'm in my 20's. His voice acting is incredible.

  • You the man, Luke

  • to the peple who talk about villains for batman movie i would love to see riddler and clayface

for riddler i would like to see how he could get police officers into beleving the chaos isonly the begining and batman is part of the problem

in whuch the shapeshifting clayface comes into play making batan look like more than an outlaw

  • Hands down the all-time best voice for The Joker, there is no equal and never will be.

  • He is not only extremely talented for voice acting, listening to what he says one can realize how serious (serious fun I mean :)) he takes his job.

  • Very true. Everyone says how amazing Heath Ledger was but there was not enough laughing from him for me. Mark Hamill got the Joker voice down. He is the Joker for him.

  • Maybe Luke should've laughed back at the Emperor like this. :P

  • @unnamednewbie13 hahah that would have been hilarious if he did that

  • @unnamednewbie13 emperor would have died right then and there :D

  • @Jackspadeproductions luke wouldn't have killed him, he would've given him that hideous grin...

  • @unnamednewbie13 Emperor: now witness the firepower of this fully armed and operational battle station.

    Luke: HahahahahaheheheheHA!

    Emperor: 0_0

  • @unnamednewbie13 AHAHAH ooh yeah, he woulda pissed Palpatine off!^^

  • @unnamednewbie13 ultimate troll on palpatine lol

  • @unnamednewbie13

Yeah, that would have freaked out old Palpy.

  • @livingwill1 As a response to him blowing up the Rebel fleet. Completely out of nowhere!

  • @sharinganchidori100 Vader: Luke...I am your father!

Luke: No. *heheheh* It's not true! It's *heh* IMPOSSIBLE! *AAAAHA-HA-HA-HAH!*

  • Mark Hamill acted his role as much as Jack Nicholson and Heath Ledger combined physicly.

When you do voicework you don't sit in front of a mic and talk, it is as much acting getting into the role, situation and mood as being on stage.

Most of the Jokers body language in the animated series were taken from Mark Hamill when he recorded the Joker.

  • @TheNufaDude not to mention Hamill has more hours as the joker under his belt than any other actor and possibly several combined

  • mark hamill has talent.

  • crazy and totally wild

  • he's so good i love the joker

  • Mark Hamill had the Joker nailed!!!

  • Hamill is the only one to ever define Jokers laugh, which is one of the most integral parts of the character. That alone makes him the best Joker.

  • I still can't BELIEVE that THAT is Luke Skywalker!

    Talk about talent!

  • ever think it has to be forced because thats what makes him so insane?

  • mark hamil is THE BEST JOKER IN ALL OF TIME

i dont think its possible to be a better joker

  • Best joker ever.

  • Cool vid. Hamill = +10

  • I LOVE That laugh. Mark Hamil Rocks

  • @lofthouse23 lol me too! It's my ringtone.

  • Voice acting is by far a more difficult art than being a regular actor. Because to be a GOOD voice actor you must have complete and total control of your voice. Mark Hamil played the joker but he also did Wolverine in the X2 Wolverine game. And then there was Sabat who played around THREE or FOUR different characters in the DBZ show, at the SAME time. SO don't dis voice actors.

On a side note yes Heath did an excellent job as Joker, but it was a different character than was expected.

  • Not to mention he only had the "Ha ha ha ho he ho ho ha ha And I thought MY jokes were bad" in which he did the slow laugh. Otherwise, his laugh was (honestly) TERRIBLE compared to Mark Hamill's laugh...

  • It wasn't terrible it was a different kind of laugh for a different kind of Joker. The biggest problem with the argument between Heath And Mark is that people compare the Jokers as though they were the same character. You have too look at it like you do comics by different artists. Some interpret characters differently and then describe them as such. That's what Nolan did with his Batman SERIES. He didn't copy the TAS because it would be just that a copy. He wanted his series to be his own.

  • Mmm agreed, BUT there is one point you're not understanding me. The slow, creepy laugh was PERFECT for that style of Joker. Otherwise though, the laughs were awful, something where Mark Hamill would have fit in perfectly, but I digress...

In the end, we cannot have a perfect Joker, because Hamill will probably never act again, and we can't have that dark insidious Joker like Heath again, because it would be an insult to him...

  • Just curious (I like to ask people this question) if they were to make a Nolan Batman 3, who do you think they should cast as the primary villain? I am really stuck on this question.

They need to be very intelligent, keeping with Nolan's realistic approach, they would have to have no "supernatural" powers, and their overall goal would be to destroy Gotham.

  • I think the Riddler would be a good choice, but he would have to be a supporting villain. However one of the best choices would have to be Mr. Freeze. His story and his character in the Dark Knight Universe, my name for the Nolan movies, would fit perfectly.

  • Riddler was my first choice, but I have to agree with Nightrider on this one: Mr. Freeze is an amazing villain. He's not really out to do bad, which fits with the whole theme, bbuuuuuuuttttt... With Batman now being a criminal, we could see something else... A Riddler who comes out to stop the Batman's "crime spree" by framing him, then causes mass chaos with his various schemes...

Otherwise, Freeze needs to be a very puny person with a cool gun, basically... That's how he's MEANT to be...

  • I was thinking a more obscure character... Such as Firefly. They could make him a serial arsonist obsessed with seeing Gotham City burn. He could have been severely injured during the Joker's attack on the hospital and he views Batman as responsible.

I like the idea of using Mr. Freeze, but how would he be able to fit in Nolan's more realistic setting.

I also like The Riddler, it would make sense making him into a terrorist who uses clues in the form of riddles.

  • Firefly would be kind of cool, but he has a flame-retardent suit, along with wings/jetpack if I remember right... So that kinda goes against realism...

As for Mr. Freeze, we have a guy living through having half his face burned to just muscle tissue... Mr. Freeze isn't too far off :P

As for the Riddler, you're missing the point ;) Why have clues in the form of riddles, when the more obvious/clever methods of solving the riddle can cause the police to do your bidding?

  • For Firefly, they would drop the "fire suit," jetpack and wings. They would just make him a sociopath who sets fires.

Ra's Al-Ghul had his Lazarus pits in the comic books, that's what kept him alive for hundreds of years and allowed him to keep coming back from near death. In Nolan's movies, that part was dropped, instead they just created a plot in which they were decoys who pass the torch.

Your Riddler and Freeze ideas are pretty intriguing. I never thought of using the characters like that.

  • True, Ra's Al-Ghul had the pits, but he never actually said they were just decoys who passed the torch. All he said was something along the lives of "I am undying, because of what I do"... He could have had the pits, and we would never know.... Not to mention, the drug he produced is next to impossible to mirror such effects >.>

As for Freeze, a beam which freezes all in contact isn't really necessary. More him being in the suit, that's the ideal. He commits crime to save his wife.

  • Your right I am forgetting that people think differently, but I must disagree on your last point. Having another dark Joker would not be an insult especially if they paid homage to Heath in either the Jokers actions or a few lines about his past works as passing references, attacking batman in a suit of armor, ect. I think if Heath had the opportunity he would say the same. People who think that just because someone died means that no one should play their parts have forgotten what acting is.

  • You can pay homage to him, but in that you somewhat need to at least do the job as well. I don't believe anyone could do a Joker as well as Heath when it comes to the darkside of things... I could be wrong and it could have been the "Wow!" factor on the insane, psycopath that we've never really seen before, but I digress...

I still have the comic book where Joker beats Robin to death with a crow bar, and will probably cherish it always, as sick as that may seem... >.>

  • To be an excellent voice actor, you also have to have an intimate level of admiration for your character. The best voice actors always know everything about the fictional character they play.

  • see i remember a few years ago when they showed the teaser for the dark knight and i thought the joker was going to sound like mark. idk why but i just thought there's no way there going to put joker in the movie and not have this classic voice/laugh. long story short i wasn't a big fan of ledger joker laugh but it grew on me. there is something about THIS joker in this video that i wish could be put into a batman movie like the dark knight.

  • Agreed

  • Heath did a good Dark Knight Joker but Mark Hamil is by far the best.

  • Yeah, really.

It's like, most of the time, the Joker is portrayed as either a) a crazy yet goofy and mostly harmless clown (i.e. Caesar Romero in the Adam West series), or b) a terrifying, homicidal lunatic (i.e. Heath Ledger in 'The Dark Knight').

Hamill's Joker was a good mixture of these two extremes, capable of being both creepy and hilarious, somtimes both in the same scene (i.e. the eulogy scene in 'The Man Who Killed Batman').

  • I love that scene. One of the many times in the series where I couldn't stop staring at the screen wide eyed in fear and laughing.

  • This joker was better the heath, heath used that stupid accent

  • @toonsis ledger used what accent

  • @fuckgd1 he sounded like "little nikky" the adam sandler movie, just watch for yourself

  • i love the timburton joker, and the 60s jokers, and like that other guy said even the AVGN joker. but mark hamil is the one i like best. i dont count heath.

  • Comment removed

  • The first laugh at the begging makes me think of one thing SPPEEEEEEEEEEEECCCCCCCCCCCCCIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL

  • Agreed. Ledger played Beetlejuice who kept smacking his lips.

And he rarely laughed or did anything funny. He wasn't the Joker.

  • But he DID have some funny one-liners. :P

  • hm?

  • Umm, in case you didn't notice, TDK Joker is a "fucking crazy ass hole" .

  • You shut the fuck up heath ledger is 10 times the man you will ever be.

  • Actually, he's more like just a rotting corpse now. Noit really a man anymore.

  • woah man mark is better than heath but thas just messed up man
