  • Who the hell doesn't like this video?!

She was wanderful btw! thanks for this

  • @07Disneygrl Actually, she did (kind of) know she was beautiful. One night, she was at a house party in Hollywood. Another female singer found Judy upstairs in one of the bedrooms crying. They had a talk & Judy was crying over someone saying she wasn't pretty enough. The other lady said, "Judy, with those eyes of your & the soul & expression that comes out when you sing, you're more beautiful than all of them." They had a good cry and went back downstairs.

  • 0:18 Just...beautiful...

I don't understand why producers always tell her she's unattractive, that's the reason why she's insecure about her looks :(

But in contrary,I find her very uniquely beautiful and a great actress..

Certainly one of my favorites.. :)

  • Is it me or does she sometimes look like Drew Barrymore?

  • I love her!

    She's the beauty icon

Not Marilyn Monroe. Well to me

  • She and mickey rooney were in 10 films together

  • @alyj1991 It was MGM telling her she wasn't pretty, not thin enough, etc. Ugh MGM.. nothing but a factory.

  • What a great song...At 57 sec, when Judy forgets the words, she says "gall darn". (May be small in some minds, but it is important.)

    Thanks for posting !

  • Judy will never be forgotten ;)

  • Boah! Quelle vitesse! Quel tempérament! Normalement, ce titre est interprêté d'une manière triste et pensive; c'est souvent une sorte de plainte... ou de prière..mais ici s'imposent l'énergie et la joie de vivre!

  • Happy 90th Birthday MiCKEY ROONEY (born 23rd September 1920)

  • @cid546

    lol!

  • Her voice, here at Carnegie Hall, really begins to open up here (the next item was Alone Together) and you can hear the wonderful, natural power of her magic. Thank You for generously posting this.

  • @Montavanni This and "Alone Together" are the very peak of the Carnegie album...as great as everything else was. Those two songs alone--genius.

  • all these old stars were so good because they had to go through the old "studio system".....learn to sing, dance, speak, walk.....how to dress etc

  • All the pics of Judy with Liza are great! She was such a beautiful little girl. I remember reading in one of the biographies about how terrified Vincent Minnelli was that she would be hideous--something about low self-esteem on his part regarding his looks--and how amazed he was by her beauty when he first saw her. I don't know how reliable the story is given that there are so many inaccurate biographies out there for Judy, but I always though it was a sweet story anyway:)

  • i dont know why but instead of judy marrying all those husbands she shouldve married micky roonie cuz' micky cared for her and loved herr....

  • Judy Garland n Mickey Rooney were da best!! great chemistry, talent, and friends that i hvnt seen since n never will b another judy n mickey

  • I love judy she's so adorable and talented, I wish I could have met her in life.

  • whats the movie she is in at 1:05???

  • This was "The Clock" (1945) with Robert Walker. Actually I like this movie, it was very cute.

  • 1:12..gorgeous:)

  • omg haha ive been turning the internet upside down to find this part of the song i didnt get... she actually made that up :D

  • i love this cha-cha-cha style!!!

  • she looks so cute @ 0:51

  • Haha her improv was brilliant.

    Such an amusing person.

I wish I could have had the honor of meeting her.

  • aha she did forget the lyrics ! lol.

i love frances/judy. she was an amazing singer and actress. she was also soo beautiful !

  • LOOOOOOOOL i forgot the goddarn words!!!!!!!!!! That part was hilarious!

  • i forgot how old she died.

  • she was only 47!!! Born in 1922, died in 1969.

  • She was so lovely!!!

  • of course she did. she was her daughter.

  • I wonder if Liza Minnelli ever listened to later Judy Garland recordings...

  • I can't believe it's been 40 years since she passed away...

She was the most talented woman of the 20th Century, a icon forever and ever. The world wouldn't be the same if you hadn't existed.

    R.I.P. Frances Gumm.

  • her voice sounds so different

  • wish she was still alive. if she was she would be 86. in june she turns 87 happy birthday judy!

  • So so so bad that her private life does not go well. She was so wonderfull and really a nice person I think! My good shit barbiturates! Never forget she was hooked on barbiurate (and amphetamins) about 30 Years! Judy RIP in Peace and sing for good, he will smile and say "FANTASTIC"!

  • Brava Judy! . . . quite simply.

  • That's a cute pic at 1:08 lol i love it

  • i cant believe it looking at these pictures that judy garland herself never thought herself as beautiful until she did meet me in st louis, UNBELIEVEABLE TALENT.

Great little thing about forgetting the "god-darn words" played it twice till i noticed haha nice vid

  • what an icon--no voice can match hers

  • I so totally wish her life didn't end tragically like it did.she seems so amazing. And she was gorgeous in her younger days too.

  • =D Liza was so adorableee !

  • i cant believe ppl a the studio thought she wasnt pretty!!! idiots!! what a talent! i love baby liza a 1.44 such a cutie pie :D great song and video xxxx

  • i know i think judy's beautiful! 0:28 is just proof that the studio was crazy to think that!

  • She was so damn pretty...and simply one of the greatest talents, singers, entertainers EVER!! She will never be forgotten!

    We love you, Judy :)

  • that was my dad below and it creeped me out cuz i was like whaaa? i didnt write that lol. but she is good

  • Once again we have proof of why she is the world's greatest entertainer. No one then or now comes close.

  • i dont think i sent this... unless my dad did... i have to ask now

  • at 1:35 is thaat Judy And Her Daughter?????????

  • Yes It is!

  • thats judy words can't explain just great music keep the good work!

  • Judy Garland blows ALL of today's celebrities out of the water!

    SHE IS PERFECTION!

  • LOL right right.

  • she sure does

  • God, she is stunningly beautiful here.

It always amazes and absolutely astounds me that she couldn't see her own striking beauty...Judy always said she wished she looked like Lana Turner.

But to top it off, Judy's outer beauty was even further magnified by her sweet sensitive soul always radiating from her eyes.

  • JUDY GARLAND is and always be on our hearts and souls!

  • I loved this! Great pictures and great songs!! She is just too darn cute :) I love Judy!!!

  • Probably the biggest star of the 20th century. When she performed, you literally couldn't take your eyes off her, no matter who she was on stage with. What a gift she had!

  • You're right, She was the most talented person of the 20th Century, she's a huge star/legend.

    I just love Judy Garland

  • TOTALY AGREE

  • Judy Garland is the most beautyful I have ever seen. I am going to some day, cut my hair like her`s.

    I dont know what

    4`11

mean?. Could someone please tell me what that means?

  • it's possible mean 4 feet and 11 inches tall. That's what it ussually means, but that means she's pretty short. I'm 4'11, and I'm 15. And I'm short.

  • I'm 21 and only 4'11, obviously all the best people come in this size!

  • i'm 14, and i'm about 4'11. at school it's really intimidating because everyone now a days are too tall for their age. and what you said actully made me smile. (: thanks! x

  • i am 11 and im 4"10

  • SNAP!! me to!!!

  • It's her hight I would guess Genius

  • Was she only 4'11? That's so cool!!!! My idol is Kristin Chenoweth and she's only 4'11 too! And she's 40!!!! And she starred in Wicked, which is supposed to be the preguel to the Wizard of Oz. But she wasn't Dorothy, she was Glinda. She's like the blonde and more modern version of Judy Garland!!!! Kristin's more of an Opera singer though. Shes known for opera because her talking voice sounds like a three year old, while her singing voice sounds like a 50 year old's.

  • ^_^

  • Pretty cool

  • I LOVE Judy!! Thank you for sharing this video :-)

  • Judy Garland is a true American ICON

  • the picture at about 1:55 with judy, liza and baby lorna (or joey? cant remember whos older lol) is just beautiful. liza was so sweet!! thank you for this, fab video! :)

  • judy eternamente bella!!!

  • thats a cool video

  • DOROTHY!

  • u said this word like a sad person that suddenly gets happy cause he finds a forgotten toy and he sees in that toy the lost childhood , a scream so sincere :) i felt it this way at least

  • She forgets the lyrics, and ad libs, while staying on key, and not missing a beat. Unlike Ashlee Simpson, who could only do a stupid dance after the tape stopped, and looked like a high school kid with stage fright. That is the difference between a great professional artist, and the overhyped amateurs, that are prevalent today. I rest my case.

  • That's what separates the PROs from the rank amateurs!

  • @dramusic . . . you're absolutely correct! . . . and then some. Hope this finds you well.

  • that song is called 'you go to my head'.

  • i just got her carnegie hall recording for my b-day!! it is truly amazing and funny and she just seems to have shined thru-out the entire program...this is wanna my favorite songs and she is so fantastic....im prolly wanna her biggest fans; I LOVE YOU SO MUCH JUDY!!!!

and thank you, sundroid, for putting this on here. i appreciate it.

  • what's the name of this song? someone please tell me! this song is beautiful!

  • You go over my head.

  • you go to my head

  • Happy Birthday Judy....been watchin her movies all day on TCM.

  • June 22nd !

this is your day Judy only yours!!!!

happy birthday my dear we miss you!

  • god she was just gorgeous!!

  • she is so pretty, its a shame she overdosed. and she sings so beautifully to.

  • omj, it's so FUNNY when she says she forgot the words! I absolutely LOVE Judy Garland. I admire her so much. I wish I could sing like her. Unfortunately, I don't think I'm going to be a singer. I want to be a writer...I wish I had this sort of talent though.

  • my goodness....i always knew she was pretty but i never knew how beautiful she was until recently.

  • She is amazing :D

  • This rocks!

  • Judy can do anything.

    Wicked song.

    Love it.

  • hahahaha omg that is hilarious!! you can clearly hear her say "and I forgot the Gald-derned words"!!!

  • this is amazing i dont really hear really hear her singing like this and i think its so JUDY, i love the way she can just carry on the song after making a cute mistake. i think its funny that she could keep the song going without the right words!!!

    I LOVE HER SO MUCH

  • I think it is cool how Judy and Kristen Chenoweth are the same hight and are both Broadway/ acting legions.

  • I was totally thinking that even before I read your comment!! tHAT is kind of scary. Fortunately, Kristin has not had to suffer some of the things Judy did.

  • Kristen Chenoweth is not the level Judy Garland was and remains even after her death though. So I don't see the comparison other than they were both stars on broadway.

  • why isn't this playing?

  • Works for me...

  • you all who love judy garland im only 14 and love her since forever but theres a movie i've seen on her it was an NBC or ABC movie but her and shirley temple both tried out for dorthy and judy got it bc. of her dad

  • Judy's dad died when she was 13. She filmed Wizard at 17. It wasn't her dad's influence, he never had any to begin with.

Also, there were doubts as to whether Shirley could carry the films with its songs. She really wasn't noted as a singer.

  • Yeh shirley didn't have a powerful voice that judy had. They wanted someone who was young though so they decided to make judy simply look younger by her outfit and hair. Shirley was supposed to be the original Dorothy but MGM decided against it.

  • If I'm not mistaken, Shirley's contracts/agent/something in that vein would not allow her to do The Wizard of Oz. That and she "just wasn't quite right for the part".

  • im dying to watch this and for some reason its not playing,!

  • this is from judy at carnegie hall, rated as one of the best concerts ever given go judy

  • She sings ""You go to my head"" great song...

  • It has a great Tune!!!

    (D

  • Very Lovely! ^.^

  • BAHAA.

    listen to 0:57.

    she says

"and i for got the gosh-darn words."

    i love her. =]

  • Yes, beutiful!

  • sooooooooooo beautiful!

  • she looks a bit like shirley temple. [thats not a bad thing]

    i love Judy Garland though!

  • BAH! She was so talented. Why did she have to die such a tragic death. Poor thing.

  • she sang this? wow.. its so sophisticated and nice! how old was she when she got married??

  • Which time? LOL!

  • why would anyone give you a thumbs down? no humor whatsoever? pity

  • i love her

    i love this song

    and video :)

  • lol dats halarious i've heard this song before and i never noticed that!!! oh and by the way after the god-darn words part she mumbles random syllables lol it is halarious!!!!

  • does anyone know how old she is at this song?

  • Judy Garland was born in 1922. She recorded this song in 1961. So she was 39 then. Sadly, she passed away 8 years later, in 1969.

  • jeeze, she was young. such a great voice.

  • what is this song called?

and where can her cd be sold?

  • Funnily enough its called "You Go to my head" and you will find it on Judy live at Carnegie Hall, might be bit of a mission to find it but worth the effort

  • the pic on :34 reminds me of her on the wizard of oz!!! cute cute cute!!

  • Judy my one and only idol...Wish I was born earlier so that I at least had a chance to meet you... RIP Judy <33<3

  • Awesome voice. She was really one of a kind.

  • Großartig!

  • she always forgot the lyrics to this song it was well rehursed for her to do so!

  • Wait - she did this deliberately?

  • Judy was a professional. She would never "rehearse" to "forget" her lyrics. In fact, her continuing her song even after forgetting the lyrics shows her professionalism. She always told her children when about to do a show with them to "have fun but be professional".

  • Absolutely Magnificent!.....:)

  • Wonderful song....It can be heard on a double cd album (1998 release) Judy live at the Carnegie Hall in 1961.

  • I don't know about Mickey Rooney's ancestry. Mickey Rooney is an Irish name. "Sean Connery" was the Irish name that Hollywood attached to a Scotsman. Judy Garland was Scottish and Irish on her mother's side. There was a LARGE cinema going Irish community in the U.S. I guess it made more commercial sense to pretend that Scots were Irish. Greer Garson ( born & grew up in London ) had Scottish and Ulster-Scots ancestry. Hollywood tried to present her as "Irish".

  • I made a mistake. Mickey Rooney's father was from Scotland. His mother was from the Mid-West. His name was definitely Joe Yule. I got it from the horse's mouth. I just saw him in "Let's Put On A Show". So, this information is correct. But I wonder what descent his mother was. He does look Scandy.

  • "Forgot the dog-arn words"I love Carnegie Hall performance! Brilliant video! I love the pics you chose to work with! Great!

  • I don't think the Carnegie performance is available on any sort of video. All I have seen of that performance which is authentic are some silent films apparently shot from the audience. They did a lot of shows with her in a concert theme, but the actual Carnegie Hall concert is available only on audio. Not bad for a woman who nearly died three years before and was told that, if she lived, she would never perform again.

  • judy garland died 8yrs later

  • Incredible talent!!

  • How many people know that Mickey Rooney's real name was Joe Yule...Norwegian American...I do not know about his mother but he looks like a Scandy.

  • I found out from the horses mouth that Mickey's father was from Scotland and his mother was from the Mid-West. Maybe she was a Scandy....oh well. At least I caught the error.

  • Judy Garland, wonderful as always...the picture at Mickey Rooney in 1.30 reminds me of Rupert Grint (plays Ron in the Harry Potter movies) hehe:) anyway, RIP Judy Garland the best actress and singer ever

  • lol great video! My mom and I laughed when she forgot the words.

  • Awh, she was so beautiful.

  • Thank You For Posting! I Love Judy.

  • Happy Birthday Judy!

  • was she in the wizard of oz?

  • Yes she was DORTHY!

  • jim bailey does an incredible garland

  • WOW! I have never heard this song. Thanks for sharing. You did a wonderful job with this video. Thankyou!!!

  • No matter what she looks like when i see her first thing that comes to mind is Dorothy....she was beautiful

  • Judy Garland was so beautiful. She looked so innocent.

  • Thanks for this beautiful video!!!!!!!!!

  • Very nice. I liked the simulation of camera movement.
