ahh i see i can do all of this to perfection but cause i might be plyn juniors next yr at 15 or midget nationals next yr i wanted to get all the practice i can......the drills you guys do are really good you should run a defensive camp judging by this vid im sure it would be successful.......keep up the great coaching :D
Not a camp. It was a Defensive tactical session run by Brad Werenka a former NHL D man who coaches AA Hockey with a Calgary AA Hockey association. His experience shows in how well he presents and demonstrates defensive skills and tactics.
It is about "knowing when and how to pressure or contain".
Glad to see that you are sharing this. I was standing on the table in the penalty box taping the session with a former player of mine now running the ice. Iwish there were a 1,000 hits of this like there are on fights and big hits that some people put together.
I recall Wally's great video produced by Hockey Canada in the 8o's. This is where some of the Dot Tag games were first seen. Today we coaches must make sure that players are spending less time reaching with their arms to make contact - in at least open ice - this is in my opinion a skill error that can be easily corrected. What do you think?
