It's not about choosing between animals and people...People are NOT more important than animals. We're all equal. If humans are so smart and superior than why can't we stop killing each other? We enslave and abuse other humans for selfish reasons not to mention animals. This planet has only so much space and resources. Humans need to learn to control their numbers as well. ELF ALF EZLN
Yes. Sad all around...the animals, the forest, and the people. It is too easy for us to criticise others from the safety of the Internet. Go to Borneo and Indonesia. Meet the people and get the other side of the story. I did. The World is not so simple as you might believe. There are tough decisions to make for all.
hallo it's not the Indonesian but the governments of Indonesia and Europe for international financial sake !!! all the products you're buying contain palm oil !!! stop it like i do and i'm indonesian in europe and i hate all of us !!!
Why can't we stop these huge conglomerates from stripping the Rain Forests They plant Palm Trees which a totally sterile, NO life for insects, birds, animals. No Carbon capturing trees. The Orangutans need International Government help. As long as greed and power are driving man we will not be able to save the earth's wildlife! In the name of progress Man has destroyed everything wonderful on this planet. Its a Tragedy.
I saw a video yesterday about orang utans who got clubbed to death by oil-palm-farmers... I had to cry, I wish I could do the same with them, but the only thing I could do, was to spend some money on a bos-side. It's time, that mankind needs to disappear from this planet...
begoodwhatever, I WANT TO DO THIS STUFF WHEN IM OLDER AND WAS WONDERING ABOUT FINDING A WOMAN ASWELL WHO IS INTO THE SAME STUFF. DID YOU MEET THROUGH THIS KIND OF WORK? IM JUST INTERESTED IF THAT SORT OF THING HAPPENS.
i live in Brune(from uk) and have recently had the chance to visit semenggogh wildlife rehab in Kuching.
they are trying to save the Orangs there, rehabvilitate them and the re introduce them in to the wild again!it was the most amazing experience in my life to see these wonderful animals in their natural habitat..
BUT
the amount of land that is being dessimated for human gain is abismal.
it seems the governments here have no regard for their wildlife.
y do u peeps think that is kewll who does that u woudnt like it ifu were a orangutan and u were smuggld out and got illed so stop now save the world save thae animals y do u do this stuff its not goood \
dimitrigregorieff, i am currently studying different animal courses in hope of getting enough understanding on how to care for these types of animals and also reading up on the laws of indonesian countries so i can soon travel there with an organisation and spend time and money on helping with the orangutans. It will take alot of time in your life but its worth it and i think i will feel so accomplished after.
Good luck to you! That sounds like a wonderful plan, and I wish you success. I love orangutans so much and they certainly do need all the help they can get.
Very nice I wish you all the luck. I hope you can help the orangutan and maybe even other apes that are in trouble. I love orangutans and apes so much. My dream is to one day spend some time with them and help them out as well.
I mentioned this story in my video, "The Value of a Human Life", which I'll put in a video response... I feel so horrible for what's happening to these beautiful creatures, being hacked up by natives because they're "inconvenient" to humans. Disgusting.
It should not be a matter of having to relocate a species. The problem is the destruction of one of the most important carbon sinks on the planet for the sake of palm oil. When the West curbs its appetite for biofuels (which many mistakenly believe to be the answer to climate change), then this is a step towards preserving what is left of this magnificent species of Great Ape.
I completely agree. The answer is to not relocate these animals to the U.S. like some have suggested. They DO have a home and its dwindling fast. We cannot relocate all wild out of the wild!!! so efforts must be put in place to ensure that their natural habitat is protected.
No the answer is to relocate them to anywhere they can be safe. But they really should not be in zoo's locked up just for people to see. They should be free and in some kinda of climent that they can enjoy and be left alone.
Sad, the orangutan has always been my favorite ape. I just when to the DC. zoo with friends as always the orangutans were one of the most popular exhibits. They had one playing video games (very basic ones of course). I'm aware this is common for great apes but to see it in person I was still impressive.
when I see them....I see human...

How can I help? How can we stop the destruction of their habitat? Please give specifics. Thanks

Take action!!!! Tears, hand ringing, hoping, wishing, etc., won't cut it. The orangutans need your help RIGHT NOW!!!
Try in some way to raise money and donate. Go to Google and type in Orangutan and you will find several good organizations to donate to. Thanks.
