i bought this exact model on sale at Staples for $899. Worst money ever spent on a laptop. I am a power user and know my computers inside and out, but this unit has given me nothing but trouble, with random crashes, lockups and freezes.

1 month after purchase, the problems begain, including severe heating if not enough airflow gets underneath it.

Play it safe and buy another brand, like the Toshiba Satellite instead.

Honestly i believe if this computer were all black and not Aluminum with a Black Bezel people wouldn't be comparing it to the Macbook Pro. if you actually check out the design and not color its not all that Macbook Pro-ish, Now if you are talking about the Envy Series thats completely different.

- graphics and processor great

Dislikes:

- touchpad is useless

- LCD matrix is the worse ive ever seen. really bad viewing angles, vertical and horizontal, non existing black color

- keyboard vibrates ans buzzes while playing sound above 30/100

Did not like it. Returned and got 8740w.

Probably not. The Dv6 laptops fall into the 15.6-16" screen range while the Dv7's are 17.3". The varied numbers (like 71nr) stand for either personalized or upgraded versions.

Same here, really difficult time hearing the video. I'm actually using the laptop reviewed, and the Beats Audio system this thing has is horrible... I was really hoping for better sound, but it's far far worse than my HP DV9260US was. Fortunately this one doesn't have a faulty video card that caused me so much heartache with my DV9260US. I love HP computers, but their customer service is absolutely brutal...

Mac used to not get viruses. Now that more people are using them, it will be the #1 choice for them because it's really really easy to hack or give them viruses. Everyone still think macs are ultra safe, but it isn't the case anymore.

If you read on the net for the latest news about macs, they are the easiest computers to hack, an the most vulnerable to get viruses.

@GotKn1fe I'm not sure about the dv7tse (dv7-4000), but the dv6tse gets around 4-5 hrs on the standard 6 cell, 4.5-5.5 hrs on the high cap 6 cell, and up to about 7.5 hrs on the 9 cell. These numbers are with multiple power-saving settings on, using integrated graphics, and light internet browsing. If you turn up the brightness and watch some youtube videos, you'll probably get about an hour less.
