Lies, deception and propaganda... he is trying to create distrust between the people and the American government. He only gives you a half truth, It is not the Government (The Constitution) but the agents that serve foreign powers who have got into positions of power that are corrupting the Government, also the wild conspiracy theories that have saturated the land are adding to the "revolutionary propaganda".
This is a fascinating man, extremely intelligent, perceptive, courageous, full of common sense, and he has certainly done better than I in this world. Just the fact that he is as intelligent as he is, proves beyond a doubt to me that there is an entity somewhere that controls better than humans. I do believe this entity has turned away and is allowing something to work its course. If I could pick someone to be by my side as an adviser during the coming events, it would be this man. Wow
What he forgets is that by not voting, you leave the opportunity for the worst people to gain more power. In life you can't always get what you want, you take what you can get. If you want freedom and real change, I say give Ron Paul a chance in 2012.
Most Heinous Crimes as well as the majority of crimes are commited by whites when you factor in the totality of crimes and factor out percentages ! I always thought of him as a good dude ?????
@dgl1962 Yes, it was a great misfortune to be raised among wealthy, vacuous, boring assholes in a sterile suburb lacking in cultural amenities. Suburbs are her filled with typical asshole, self absorbed suburbanites obsessed with their punk kids boring sports teams, their fucking cars and their televisions. The suburbs lack any interest. Thoreau was right when he stated that most men lead lives of quite desperation and he surely meant most especially suburbanites. Many suburbs now have thugs.
@dgl1962 I had the horrible misfortune of growing up in a wealthy, nice suburb of Chicago and left to move downtown right out of high school as did many of my friends. Actually the trend in many nice urban areas is the better people moving downtown and the thugs migrating to the 'burbs. The days of vacuous, wasteful, suburban living are numbered for many reasons, including oil supply, among many others.
In Australia, it's compulsory. I'm 21 and not even on the electrol role. I'll probably get in trouble eventually. But meh, you can just leave it blank on the ballot and get your name signed off.
@dgl1962 That is it in a nutshell. The abundance of material garbage like SUV's, big screen television that show the mind numbing bullshit on television and restaurants like Olive Garden that serve shit on plates that people consider good food - basically the vacuous suburbs and their disgusting sprawl and brain dead morons that think they're living somewhere significant - are why this country is in a slow slide down the tubes and polticians, of both parties, that are con artists get elected.
He is absolutely right people of America you must look up the cloward-priven strategy it's all being engineered this way, save your country, save yourselves
I feel exactly as you do on the charcater of the U.S. g-ment and on the stupidity and futility of voting when no positive candidate is ever presented. Kudos to you Doug Casey!
@dgl1962 You are probably right and so was Alexis de Tocqueville who predicted that this might happen. Check out Andrew Klavan on the Culure on Youtube. He is hilarious and he makes a reference to democracy being susceptible to goverment essentially buying off the public and also mentions that de Tocqueville predicted it back in the mid- 1800's.
@dgl1962 I have become more Libertarian as well or at least more anti-Repbulican. Repubs are devoid of leadership for the most part at least among the current crop of presidential wannabe's. I wish that someone other than Ron Paul could faithfully articulate Libertarianism. He has some good ideas but is kind of nuts on some issues.
He is nuts on *which* issues? He is completely in line with libertarianism on MOST issues. If anything, his propagation of the constitution (and states rights) still makes him too statist. Lysander Spooner has explained perfectly why the constitution has no moral authority.
If anybody would truly faithfully articulate true libertarianism, he'd sound even more "nutty" than Ron Paul, because RP still makes some compromises here and there.
@tridentmovies Libertarianism is "any political position that advocates a radical redistribution of power from the coercive state to voluntary associations of free individuals", whether "voluntary association" takes the form of the free market or of communal co-operatives. The U.S. Libertarian party, libertarianism is the advocacy of a government that is funded voluntarily and limited to protecting individuals from coercion and violence. Figure it out yourself, it's obvious he's a kook nut
No i'm NOT going to figure it out myself because YOU made the accusation, and you haven't written one iota that indicates why he's a "kook nut". All you have done is written a couple of "definitions" of libertarianism, as if it is supposed to enlighten me about the so-called "kookiness" of Ron Paul. It didn't.
So try again.
And try articulating it instead of pretending that mentioning some definitions of libertarianism are presenting some self-evident truths about "kookiness".
@tridentmovies Anyone who states they would rather deal with the Outfit than any agency of U.S. government is crazy and completely lacks intellectual credibility right off the bat. Any misdirected moron can make silly claims and assertiongs like he does without any evidence to back up his nonsense. He's a completely misdirected moron who does not understand political philosophy. If every misdirected moron were as paranoid and cynical as this nitwit, we'd be in big trouble.
@utubehayter Of course I do. It is a form of government or sociopolitical philosophy, like all others, that can easily devolve into anarchy, although the potential for libertarianism to do so falls probably somewhere in between the potential for left wing collectivism of the late 19th/early 20th centuries, that led to Hitler, Mao, Stalin and even Woodrow Wilson in this country, to do so and representative democracy which we now witness devolving throughout the developed world.
It was a rhetorical question. The answer is pretty obvious to anyone who reads what you have written before I asked it and even after.., i.e. you don't need to answer it (and yes, you still don't know what it is!).
@dgl1962 The best thing on Drudge today is the piece about Pelosi being pissed that the Republicans have wisely decided to not respond at all to the address Obama is making tomorrow with his teleprompter which will just be more of the verbal excrement that flows endlessly from his mouth. His latest mud splattering will result in a flush down the tubes as usual All he does is talk, talk, talk, talk........like a boring, arrogant professor.
@dgl1962 No, I mentioned that I hate most of the U.S. government, not the U.S. I love the U.S., it's the greatest country on the planet. I was being sarcastic, in case you couldn't tell, about Obama. He's been a disaster.
This guy is a moron. Maybe he sould check out southern Italy before he speaks about Cosa Nostra and the Outfit. I hate most of the U.S. government too but Obama is really straightening things out. He has the highest black unemployment rate in 27 years, no job creation and he kept Gitmo open. Plus, he engineered the government take over of our health care system.
Doug is right, regarding a decayed republic without jury rights, and without proper elections (as the US now is). But he's surprisingly short-sighted about understanding that this situation is not static, it is simply resistant to change. Unfortunately, Doug's prescribed course of action makes the situation more resistant to change, because the current situation is informational, and obeys the logic of crowd thresholds. Casey's prescription reduces the likelihood of exponential libertarianism
This guy has it weighed up correctly. Politicians never act with much honesty.
"The pre-occupation of the super-rich to do nothing but augment their wealth is a pathology. These people are dangerous. The lunatics are running the asylum."
@waynegm777 What? Humans do have 3 brains. The oldest is the reptilian one, then primate or something like that, then the bigger human part. Pretty fucking awesome.
@waynegm777 Why did that blow it for you? He's not talking in the conspiracy sense but rather the established theory that our brains evolved in three stages. The reptile coming first, then the emotional (or "mammalian") and finally the logical. The lower brains override the higher ones.
@waynegm777 reptililian part of human brain is freeking nonsense - my cousin is a retired brain surgeon, start asking some professionals.. and get back to me
Until you are willing to organize your friends and neighbors and literally shut down cities - drive at 5mph through the streets of major cities on the freeway and stop commerce, refuse to show up for work, refuse to borrow and spend more than you make, show up in Washington DC with a million of your neighbors and literally shut down The Capitol you WILL be bent over the table on a daily basis.
@Deb1inFla if you feel the 3 mins were already a waste of time, why would you be interested in what he would further have to say about an alternative? how about this: for any of you who prefer the system we have now, you all stay in that system. let us who do not, opt out. i'd be happy with that. to a degree, one can vote with one's dollars (more effective than a ballot vote) which i have done by moving overseas. but there is no nation on earth without an oppressive state. just some less bad
