correction to the comment that all parrot rescues charge adoption fees i know a couple that do NOT charge fees to adopt but there is a home inspection and what not and you must sign contracts just saying have your facts straight before saying ALL charge fees!
that is a beautiful home id lvoe those birds even with the screaming i would love them i love birds cuz i spend so much time with mine cuz im homeschooled
I would love to have one of them. I took in my Grandmothers Parakeets when she could no longer care for them. They make such wonderful additions to any family.
haha at the news lady comment about getting any sleep in there.. birds DO sleep at night ! :P the question is how do you put up with so many squawks in the daytime!? I hope all those birds find loving PERMANENT homes with owners who know what it takes to care for these wonderful creatures.
I live in Australia, if you will pay my air fare, give me somewhere reasonable to live and a weekly wage, I'll clean the cages for you... and play with the birds... that bit will be for free...
Are you ready for 40 inches of snow and temperatures of minus 35 degrees Fahrenheit between December and February??? Global warming seems to have missed Chicago! :>)
YES, ALL rescues charge varying fees to adopt one of their parrots and require that you fill out a detailed application plus provide references. Most rescues will not let you adopt a large parrot unless you live in a house due to their screaming abilities.
GO TO 'RESCUE THE BIRDS' WEBSITE (Link is in the Description) and read thru their adoption requirements for more information!
Rich- The last bit of film shows you with a CAG that appears to be missing his lower beak. My wife and I volunteer at an avian vet/rescue house and have a CAG ALSO missing his lower beak. Is yours named MAX? The story his former owner gave was fishy and we suspect something else happened.
Hi Chris - Yes, that is Prince. He is actually my bird and what started me down the path of rescue 20 years ago. He was attacked by an aggressive cockatoo who bit his lower beak off and they were unable to reattach it. This incident happened a long time ago and he now suffers no ill effects from it.
Rich- Thanks for the reply, and thank you and your volunteers for caring. Prince, (also my wife's maiden name,) appears to enjoy his time with you, just as Max does here. Thankfully, there are people such as you, to care for these wonderful babies. Personally, I wouldn't give it up for anything.
I have 3 parrots and I thought my house was noisy! LOL. Great job you are doing and kudos to the Weiner family for taking on such a heartbreaking and equally rewarding mission.
That is so VERY sweet and generous of you!Click on the LINK for RESCUETHEBIRDS[dot]ORG under "ABOUT THIS VIDEO", then click on "Make a Donation" on the right side of the screen (the site is secure as I have donated to them that way, too). The Weiners started building an addition and WOULD VERY MUCH APPRECIATE DONATIONS IN ANY AMOUNT! (I posted this Video in hopes of helping them out a little...)
MAY GOD BLESS YOU AND REPAY YOU A HUNDRED TIMES OVER!!! :>)
Way to go to the Weiner family! Listen to the words of wisdom on their YouTube Channel folks: ADOPT a parrot, AFTER you volunteer at a rescue organization to find out if one is really the right pet for you. They require a lot of care and love and work. They are noisy, messy, and a lifetime commitment.
You guys are the best, Rich! You need to post some vids so people can see the important work you're doing. I'm so glad Wildlife Guardian put up your story. It's wonderful.

Pattyinla,
Thanks for your kind words! Yes, you are quite correct, it can get quite noisy at times, but sometimes it can be music to my ears!
