My phone is doing the exact same thing right now. It's also typing before I even touch the screen now. But if I reboot the phone it stops for a while.

Hey man, I just bought an iPhone 3g 2 weeks ago and I love it, although 2nite as I was typing a text message I noticed the on the keyboard, when I press certain letters, they do not highlight (to tell you what key you pressed) I was curious if you have ever heard of this before and if I should have the fone looked at. It does it randomly to different letters at different times... I spent almost 300 dollars and am a little let down by this.. what should I do??? Can it be fixed?? Replaced??

I recently experienced the same problem with the keyboard. I contacted ATT iPhone support today to inform them of this bug. I did the restarts and the restores as the representative suggested. She also encouraged me to visit an Apple Store to see if they could fix the problem. Where things get a little fishy is when the representative told me if the unit needed repair the cost was $199, when I could just buy a new one for the same price. What an easy way to sell more phones. This sucks!

Okay...I'm having the same issue. I called Apple and the tech had me to a restart and restore and that didn't work. The tech ended by saying that it was a hardware problem. So now, I have to go into an Apple store tomorrow. Will Apple replace it??

yea i have had that problem too the same exact problem..but to i think what has happend was i left it charging one night i guess for to long and the screen was really hot and i went to send a text and wen i touched that area of the screen to touch it went all crazii i think the sensor in the screen got to hot and messed it up ..well i just wen to apple and got a new one =]

i had this problem with my palm pilot once.... i am no electronic geek, but i believe that there are sensors outlining the touchscreen and and each sensor picks up what area of the screen is being touched by how level the screen is and from the point of contact will offset the balance of the screen, setting off the sensors and estimating where the screen was touched by the pressure point of the screen. some points on the screen were probably sticking. its hard to explain, but it wasn't a glitch.

ppl dont realize how many bugs it has.i gues there will be a 2nd and a 3rd 4th generation..where some of those problems will be fixed but some not so if u get a 2nd generation phone and the 3rd comes out u have a reason to buy it becose its bug free for 2 months till ppl realize that they didnt fix all bugs so they buy a new one!have fun im happy with nokia phones(9300i)!Dont hate me apple ppl coz i dont hate apple i just use windows (never had bluescreen btw coz i use it right)

I have the smallest fingers you can imagine. It's actually a multi touch bug, the sensors work in rows. I was told it's happened to others, really rare though. So beware out there! You might tap a button one day, and boom as Mr. Jobs might say that entire row will never function again!
