You must live in Michigan ... ? I am not far from Flint and have a Philco 46-1201 that works but I think needs a new phono cartridge. Any idea where to get one ?
It's a very cool piece but your presentation of it makes me think you must have attention deficit disorder. Why don't you let one song play all the way through as though you actually enjoy listening to it ? 5 seconds of this and 5 seconds of that is very disconcerting.
Philco called their 1201 the "Bing Crosby" because they sponsored his "PHILCO RADIO TIME" on ABC from 1946 through '49. This one was probably one of the last models announcer Ken Carpenter "pitched" on Bing's radio show before they moved to CBS [for Liggett & Myers' Chesterfield] in the fall of '49.
It's neato! I find it amusing that it has a front loader, but with all that stuff on top, you can't put things on top of it, and that is why they made front loaders, so the top is not in need of a lid, and you can put junk on it. But it sure looks kewl!
What a little beauty! Not only beautiful to look at, but also to marvel at its techical design. Is it possible to see the internal mechanism? If not, I can only imagine stylus replacment being a chore. Great post! :) I know you have to love owning this little guy.
I have this exact record player sitting in a closet. I've had it for over 10 years and always wondered how the record player worked. Makes me want to get it out and restore it.
That's really amazing how the record plays automatically! Sounds like there are some good radio stations there too. I remember being able to listen to WJR when in the Cleveland, Ohio area.
BEAUTIFUL

Lvely machine, but we did not see the record ejected. Could you please show that. Was it Manuel, or did the record eject at the end of playing.
