Pick weather 1st and terrain 2nd. I grew up in Denver & the best memories are from big snow days not the clear days. Go for a week for best chance. Last year, we left MD in Feb record snow, with 36" ground/26" inbound. Drove 6 hrs to Raleigh as BWI was closed and arrived at Vail with low snow. And then it dumped! halelujah! Two feet in the back bowls. Bags are packed for Park CIty on Valentine's Day. Snow on Wed, not magic, just the seasons. GOPRO charged and ready. Do work!

so for powder and back country like this...where would you reccommend going out west? This is what snowboarding is all about, screw that going straight down a mountain on a pre-made trail. anybody can do that. Dodging trees and 3 ft powder is the shiiiiit. I've only been to Park City btw.. i'm an east coaster. THe whole time we were out there we hiked and just did back country.

@joerover22, The amount of terrain out west is endless, Utah, Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, Washington, Oregon, California, British Columbia, Alberta, Alaska, New Mexico, all have really amazing powder spots and immense amounts of backcountry terrain. My personal favorites are CA, AK, WA, BC, and WY. I grew up riding in the Sierra Nevada, and love the terrain and amount of snow they get, but i had a great experience in Wyoming at Jackson Hole as well. remember to be avalanche prepped!!!
