Thanks for the tip! My 2000 MPV was making a loud humming sound when I'd first start it up in the morning. Cleaning the IAC valve with a little carb cleaner fixed it.
I see some mechaniks or shop owners t'd off about this good instructive vid! Try finding even a IAC valve diagram online..No Way. ThankYou moridin. You did what the mazda forums could not.
I've been having issues with my 2000 MPV LX and think I found the IAC just infront of the throttle, closer to the nose of the car on the driver side. Horrible place to get to it, but when I pull the throttle cable hard I get a TPS code and I hear the fog horn sound until I shut down and start her up again. Also she doesn't stall when I pull the cable from the iac. She also doesn't stall when I pull the MAF sensor cable, should she? it does throw a code though
My IAC valve was causing a high RPM issue in my 2000 Lincoln Ls. Removed and cleaned it with throttle cleaner and problem solved. Car even ran better than it did before IAC problem arose.
Hi I have a 2000 mpv as well but am having trouble with the anti theft system. Engine turns but no fuel. Was wondering if you had similar problem. Somethint to do with immobilizer.
I needed to know where this was so I could clean it out in the hopes that I can postpone replacement. Ill be installing it back soon. Hopefully it works :)

I have no idea. Im no mechanic. The IAC valve only makes this noise on idle, so I imagine your problem is something else.

It was the root cause of a weird, loud horn-like sound emanating from the engine when idling.

Cleaning worked perfectly! And this video showed exactly where the IAC was on the engine. Thanks again :)
