  • best amazing road

i hope viset california one day befor i ll diea

  • it's amazing *-*

  • Why the fight about which part of California is superior? It's a silly discussion. All of California is beautiful, I love LA as much as I love Northern California. And LA is so much more than beaches...

  • @ 1:23 is singing trees drug and alcohol treatment fac. The most coolest recovery ctr. in usa.

  • 1:15 I used to work at the Chimney Tree (:

  • @xXCrimsonVirtueXx Thats singing trees treatment ctr. Right?

  • Yes, this is Highway 101 and on this section, you are right beside the Eel River, the only river that runs north in the US. The mouth is at Ferndale, a very beautiful little town. I remember the flood in 1964 coming up to the belly of the Ferndale bridge. It's a two lane bridge across the Eel River. Parts of 101 were washed out, of course. You really need to follow 101 to Crescent City. Breathtaking!!!

  • serenity

  • California is so big there is a big difference between north and south, same way with Texas

  • What a beautiful drive!

  • Thank you so much for bringing me back :D Was up there just a few days ago and fall in love every single time...already missin it! This last trip finally got me... am definately moving to N. Cali after graduate. So beautiful!

  • Id be smoking a big fatty.

  • who on gods green earth qould dislike this?

  • @Apollosinsight I lived in Canada for a very long time and have been in California for 12 years. Once you have a roof on your head, everything else is actually less expensive. You spend less for clothes because of the weather, less for your car because they don't "age" as quickly, less for electricity because you don't spend that much for heating. As for food, if you have a little bit of land, you can grow your own.

  • I would love to live in California, but I don't earn enough to move out there. I know it's expensive, so that kinda sucks!

  • im a forestry graduate,,and man i would like to see those gigantic trees myself, i wish,,ugh,,,theyre beautiful

  • Man, I just want to go back to California lol. That's what sucks about a trip to Northern California...once you go, you'll want to stay. Absolutely amazing scenery and fresh air!

  • Northern California really does have the more beautiful half of the state!

  • ! BEAUTIFUL !

  • I've been on this stretch of road a million times, never fails to amaze me. I love living here.

  • I went somewhat exact same thing as this in southern oregon coast

  • It truely is this beautiful, California is NOT all sunny weather, beaches, and palm trees. I love my area, Humboldt is the greatest place in the world. Give me more Redwoods and coastly fog....

  • This is about 80 miles South of Eureka; 12 miles South of Garberville at Richardsons Grove State Park.... I use to drive this route daily on my way to and from work.... looks like at 2:40, it skips to the Crecent City area for the Elk Herd

  • Beautiful, I love Northern California!

  • Northern California and New England are the most beautiful parts of the USA.

  • oh...so beautiful... and I love ur vids.

  • oh...so beautiful...

  • these scenes bring back life to the soul. I am from saudi Arabia and our geography lacks a lot of that, when you travel there , you may drive through dry deserts only, which brings death to you. you're lucky. I guess motoring between the differnt states is fun in your country.

  • Man I Would Love That Place! That's all there is to it I"M FUCKING GOIN

  • @Branzo29 ME TOO!!! LOLOL ::))

  • I live in this area (I live in Eureka), and to tell you the truth, the only thing "great" about our area is the trees. I don't see why tourists want to come here. thumbs up if you agree.

  • @narwhalsrawsomeyoyo ha ha nice try at keeping people out but I'm moving there as well arcata to be exact, love the hippies love the trees live the weed!!!! ha ha ha...

  • Wow.

I definetely want to bring my Skyline down to California and cruise this road. Beautiful, nice curves, somewhat isolated. Amazing picture opportunities.

  • if you like the Redwoods of 101 you should check out HWY35 or "Skyline", its Redwood forests with a view of SF Bay on one side and the ocean on the other.. best views are at Windy Hill OSP, and the vista point on 35 on the east side of Russian Ridge OSP.. and 35@HWY92. Its dramatic hilly terrain, with rolling grass hills and valley's and not to mention the Fog, which pours from the ocean over the top of the ridge and down into the San Andreas rift valley.. a must see if you're in the Bay Area..

  • nice i live between eureka and piercey my whole life its like a faury tail you cant even imagine the beutifull thing ive seen there growing up

  • The Legend of Bigfoot landmark jumps out. The best of the redwoods is pretty much from Avenue of the Giants up to Jedediah Smith. If you like big redwood stuff, Google ...

    mdvaden + redwoods

  • How are redwood trees used to hide marijuana plants? They need direct sunlight to grow and there is no way to get decent marijuana thats grown in the shade. Really could somone explain? Now they want to burn down the redwood forrest to stop another plant from growing lmfao. Omg kill the plants because theres a plant lmfao. Theres no way that can be true. Why dont we shoot bananas at the moon to stop the cakemonster from disassembling all of our toasters.

  • @CantWeedThis u put the plants up in the trees

  • @CantWeedThis its true you cant really grow anything in a redwood forest.. accept ferns? but, on a western slope in a thin patch.. its definitely possible.. and its just the area, a lot isn't actually in the redwoods.. its mainly the rural aspect of it all, you out in the middle of freakin NOWHERE, you can make do.. lol there are meadows in all forests ;)

  • Something interesting I found out when I visited the Redwoods recently, is that Seattle in Washington State is actually closer to the Redwoods of Northern California than Los Angeles is. Seattle is around 560 miles away from the Redwood National Park, while LA is around 660 miles away. That just shows how big California is when a city in the same state is further away than a city that is two states away.

  • Bigfoot at 1:58 is classic.

  • The avenue of the giants is my fave drive.......I live in upstate NY and the adirondacks is what I what I have now......but I am a Northern Clifornia boy.......I miss it there...

  • I grew up their so I understand.....I learned to drive on these roads....

  • This has been filmed, photographed, cuttings have been. If we eliminate a few scenic drives like this we could cut narcotics production in half through out Northern California. The lives of our children are allot more important than a few stands of trees. These are simply hiding places for narcotics farming. Burn them out!

  • @IFlick

They could sew your lips together and the world wouldn't miss a damn thing.

  • The DEA has deemed this area as hopelessly infested with narcotics production. The "canopy" of the redwoods are being used to hide it. Only a "controlled burn" can eliminate this. Every redwood now represents a marijuana cigarette on the streets of American cities. This first "burn" must take place before the beginning of the dry season.

  • ye that sounds great lets bur 2000 year old trees so people dont gro weed californias biggest cash crop that would be great and not affect the economy one bit

  • yes let burn 2000 year old trees so pople dong grow pot californias biggest cash crop that wouldnt affect the economy one bit

  • The Red Wood Forest is one of my favorite North American Scenic place. The trees are gigantic!

  • Awesome video!!! I was raised up there (Fortuna) and used to ride my bike through the "Avenue of the Giant's" and just loved it up there. Now I am in Southern California and there is a huge difference between the two!!! They are like two different worlds!! I miss it up there! Thanks for posting it brought back great memories!!

  • I must have missed the elk on our way to the Redwoods. Great video. Try taking hwy 36 from the coast to Red bluff, but not during the winter months. 299 from Eureka to Weaverville is a great drive also. Northern California is completely different in many ways from Southern California. Nor Cal is far better place to live.

  • GIANT TREES!!!!!

  • JCVdude, what up. hey im from missoula montana and its a scenic gem itself! check it out if u every come east. anyways, exactly what part of northern california is this? those trees are gorgeous.

  • everywhere in northern california just not in the cities surrounding the bay

  • so many people think california is just palm trees and beaches. they all wanna go to los angeles. they dont know what they are missing up here. its beautiful.

  • Good, keep them away!

  • Yep, you do not want a bunch of LA jerkoffs moving in and ruining the area. I am originally from LA but always loved Everything north of San Francisco, The landscape AND the people. Southern cali is lousy.

  • @diehardoaklandfan510 They sure don't know what they are missing. Northern and I mean Northern California above Ukiah to the west and up to the Oregon border is the most beautiful part of the state..

  • @klsallinen I have been lucky to work all over the state, and in all 50 states. Downstate has some very nice places, and more hustle and bustle then anything north of SF or Sac. With that said, i have never seen a single place in the whole country thats close to as magical as the North Coast. Towns may need some love, but its almost like your drove through a portal to 'middle earth'

  • the big elk herd is just outsied laytonville ca,this is the highway north of that but south of garberville ca check it out it really is beautiful

  • Is this the 101? Because it's so beautiful!! I would like to go on this section of the 101 someday. My dad said that he was on this section of the 101 in the 1980s and he is right about saying that it's beautiful. I used to live in California until 1999 but never been north of San Francisco. Now I live in New Jersey. However, my family used to go back and forth between Santa Barbara County and Los Angeles frequently.

  • It is stunningly beautiful! Along this route - so many incredible places, the seal caves, the little fishing towns, the beaches, the sand dunes and then just before you enter the redwoods, the elk! We can't wait to go back.

  • Agreed! The 101 is an interesting, unique highway. From its southern terminus, the 101 travels right along the coast, especially between Oxnard and Goleta. I remember the beautiful ocean view on the 101 when I was a kid in the 1990s. After Goleta, the 101 makes a sudden turn northward and passes through beautiful mountains and scenery and you will see the ocean again for a few minutes in Pismo Beach. I heard that it will continue to be beautiful until the northern terminus at Washington.

  • @JCVdude dude please tell me track name

  • North of the Bay Area we just call it "101." If you ever make it up that way, don't say "The 101." You'll get looked at funny. And followed to the city limit.

  • I've never been north of the bay area, and I lived in Central California until 1999. Now I live in New Jersey and we just say "Route 17", "Route 4", "Route 80", etc.

  • I live in Northern California (two hours south of Oregon) and yes this looks like 101! Absolutely gorgeous here. Ocean, redwoods, mountains... what more can you ask for!

  • @karlykiscool You must be close to Eureka/Arcata area. I used to live in the central coast of California until 1999 and I really miss it. I took a trip to California in summer 2010 (and was, of course, never willing to leave) and starting the trip in LA, I flew from LAX to Arcata-Eureka Airport the next day, rented a car and drove back to LA. I agree that it is so beautiful. I miss the nice ocean mists and scenery of California

  • yep, in fact one of the road signs said Meyers Flat and Crescent City. But it was beyond that. Where we stopped to film the Elk was near a place called Elk Meadow.

  • where in Cali is that near Klamath?
