I really don't know how could a great enterprise make such a bad game just to say that exist a version on genesis...i wish that nintendo had made the fx fighter for snes based on chip super fx 2 at 21mhz...this way maybe sega had made a virtual fighter based on svp at 23mhz (virtual racing) it would be worthy play...

Cool, it looks like even with side scrooling 2D graphics they've captured a bit of a 3D essence.

Looks really fun just like the Saturn and arcade version.

This game really shouldn't be so ridiculed just because its more primitive than the Saturn/arcade versions.

The game is ridiculed because its very existence makes no sense. The very idea of "Virtua" anything back then, was for it to be 3D. The fact that the game was 2D made it self-defeating and contradictory.

It looks like they managed to get the basic gameplay of Virtua Fighter 2 onto the Mega Drive/Genesis quite well, even if it is a bit pointless without the 3D camera angles.
