Thanks for the great video! We have been coming up with some band workouts too. Hope you enjoy! Check em out at restorehealthusa and tell us what you think!
one time i was using resistance bands in my room, and i was doing pull downs with them using a hook in the wall, and as i was pulling down on them the bands slipped off the hook and slapped me right in the face
thanks man but my band snapped and hurt my arm really band, and i bought the expensive one too cuz i wanted it to last, i guess im back to free weights
Hi. im looking into resistance bands because i want to get big for football next year and i am already taking protein shakes so if i continue to take protein shakes and JUST workout with resistance bands everyday will that make me big?
Your going to need to use free weights in conjunction with the resistance bands. Its not all about protein drinks that make you big. If you can, get your calories from whole food.
It depends what your goal is? I would recommend both among other using other tools. The more tools, the better diversity you have with your exercise program. For your body to make changes, its need a new stimulus on a regular basis.
Has anybody broken one of these, I realized that I mimic the reverse tricep press down when I set this above the bar of my iron gym and found that by shortening the tube the more resistance however I'm afraid it snaps and hit an eye or something.
im 14 and i have a 6 pack, however its covered by about an inch of fat, i really want to show it, do you have a method of losing the stomach fat, im not looking for a quick thing, i dont mind how long it takes. thx
i eat reasonably healthy and i will start running this friday, every day i do 100 sit ups, 100 push ups, and weight training but no cardio as of yet, what do you suggest?
I suggest you do any exercise you like that gets your heart thumping really hard for a solid 20 minutes or more.. like aggressive mountain biking, stair climbing, swimming, running, speed walking.. mix it up, and do it hard.. stay clear of sissy exercise machines and distractions when your exercising too.. stay focused on what your doing, and constantly be thinking, "Is that all you got?? COME ON!!!" Then, you will be ready..
Sissy exercise machines? Different things work better for different people. I'd never advise against using exercise machines.. as long as you know what they're for and how to use them properly.
As for doing sit ups and push ups.. that will give you a six pack, but it won't get rid of fat that's hiding it. You've built the six pack, the next step is to do cardio to burn off the fat. A lot of people are under the impression that sit ups gives you a visible six pack, but it's simply not true.
im thin by nature and petite, not interested in loosing weight but tone the little muscle that i have especially my biceps and maybe do some work on my thighs, not to mention getting my bones strong, i hope this works. thanks for this video!
yeah.. i just used bands twice and they are great but their already in the garbage cuz i broke them.... hate when that happens!!!where can i get some good bands???i bought mine at walmart!!
any bands that look like they have some balls to them.. the ones that look like rubber I melt through them after a few reps.. then I got some nike ones that are visibly appear thick and strong, and I've never even come close to breaking them
I used to be into powerlifting, but recent health issues has not enabled me to lift heavy like I used to, so I am using bands to stay in shape. I really like these, and used to actually use them on my lighter days to do speed work. Great vid!
Hi thanks for the video. I just started working out couple weeks ago. I'm 150lbs i want to gain muscle mass i'm not in a rush doing as much as i can everyday. Most people i notice are looking for a diet plan to lose weight i wanna gain it but still stay in shape do you know any meal plans for smaller guys who wanna get bigger thanks alot
Sorry can't help you. I'm looking for the same thing. First you need to know how much calories you need to consume and als o how much water. What I do know is that you should eat 6 meals a day and try to eat little by little each time when having a meal.
ddue ive been telling EVERYONE who talks to me about training. i always tell them my core training workout is resistance bands and swiss ball. you can do anything and everything with them. get a good circuit going and your fit AND strong in no time.
Very good video....I've been in the military for over 20 years and just heard about heavy duty resistance bands from Bodylastics. Have you heard anything positive about them?
ive recently started a restinance band routine for about a month now and i already feel alot stronger, despite not seeing huge visual results i know it is working.
To some degree you can, but it will really depend on your diet. Getting very lean is mostly about nutrition. Free weights would be a great addition to your workout though.
I would love any tips you have to offer. What kind should I buy? Any websites that show all the techniques? What else should I incorporate? Thanks for your help and fast response.
Someone emailed me today asking for additional videos. I'm not sure what happened to your comment. Sorry about that. Let me know what kind of video you would like.
hi, fitman what would u tell r readers about resistance bands. what is the big deal about them in terms of working the muscles vs free weights? read any research on this? thanks
Thats a great question. I like resistance bands because they are easy and convenient to use. I have not read any research, but believe they should be incorprated in every exercise program. If one is looking to tone and lean up, I think resistance bands are great, but if your looking at building bigger muscles, then free weights are a great tool. One thing to always remember, your body adapts to all new stimulus every 3-4 weeks. Change it up for best results. Thanks for the question.

I've heard of that happening. Please be careful when using the resistance bands.

Never use a hook dude!
Use a full circle eyelet and one of those clips rock climbers use, then it cant slip off lol :-)

I am new to resistance bands. How can I combine them with free weights? Also, what is the diffrence between resistance bands and resistance tubing?
rmsolympic1 2 years ago
Nothing
fitman23 2 years ago
In general, no. The resistance bands helps you get fit, weights help you build muscles.

I really enjoyed this video, Thank you! Do resistance bands come in different lengths or amount of resistance? I'm worried that I'd snap the band...
AKaimal1 2 years ago
Yes they come in 4 different types of resistance. They're very durable, I doubt you would snap them if you used the correctly.
fitman23 2 years ago
yes if you noticed on the wall behind the guy he had several. there are more based on resistance level than length

Any suggestions as to what brands are best?
Any help is much appreciated.

how can i keep my bands safe without tearing it like what are the limits?
CaptainJackSpizzo 2 years ago
You should be able to feel the limits . If the tension is too weak you should buy strong bands.
fitman23 2 years ago
The hand touch.

From my experience they break when they already have slight tear in them. I would say they last at least 1+ yrs.

What is that exercise at 1:55?
I've never seen it before!
Is it a truly proven exercise to get in shape?
I doubt it because then a lot of people would know about it including myself.

yopersonaltraina 4 years ago
I have heard of them, but never used them. I think resistance bands are a great tool that can be used anywhere.
fitman23 4 years ago
I actually have them.
My opinion is that they are a good complement to free weight exercise or a very good alternative when free weights are not available.
They are easily portable and they are really durable.
Bodylastics has three different strength sets you can purchase. I bought the biggest one and I can't picture myself outgrowing them.

what resistance exercises do you recommend for developing fast twitch muscles in the leg muscles

Have you seen resistance band ankle cuffs? This is a great tool for lower body power.
You can do sprints with someone else holding on to the resistance band around your waist.
