Well spoken. In context or out of context Bible wagging people take no responsibility for there careless words and actions when they so ignorantly proclaim, "it's in the Bible". Where is your personal responsibility?
Wow, what a way to screw with the truth of Christianity. Christians understand when Jesus said he fulfilled the Leviticus laws...he actually fulfilled those laws. He even said he wouldn't destroy them to show us WHY he needed to come down. It's impossible to follow the Leviticus laws, thus he instituted rule of mercy and compassion that's described in the New Testament. That's the very same text (specifically Romans) that explains homosexual actions and feelings are sinful.
I laughed till i cried, then I cried till I laughed. Did you see his head swell up like a feeder pig. It was turning red like the devil himself. I agree, get a history lesson or two before makng stupid comments on the Bible.
He cites the same book twice, and none of those verses were out of context, so there goes your whole second section... and don't try and claim the ignorance of others when you should be claiming your own.... go back and reread those sections, learn and grow - don't fall back on two thousand year old dogma when there are Real social problems to he had. Take some time to learn some history and actually discover how the bible was put together... 'nuff said
They are all taken out of context. The verses he states are from the Old Testament. They were give to the Israelites. Ultimately, the point of all the laws that were given was to show that living by the word of the law is impossible. That is why we were given Jesus, forgiveness and mercy. Since then, us Christians have not been living by the law, but by love. I think you are the one who needs to study up on the Bible. Also, I don't know what quoting a verse twice has to do with anything.
Don't you think god could have written it in a way that wasn't so easy to misunderstand? Why would god make everything so vague that it could be interpreted in so many different ways that there would be wars about it? There is more accuracy in books written by people, so why can't god do a better job? God isn't perfect, isn't all loving, and therefore isn't god.
You guys are idiots. All those verses are taken out of context, all the ones he sited were either special cases when God specificly commanded someone not to do something, or they were laws of the time period. The gay rights one however, was NOT a specific case. God was telling it to ALL people.
So, if you take it literally....the Bible was telling some stories of what happened, and included in those stories was one about how God comanded ALL people. Why are you people so confused?
If you're suggesting that the bible shouldn't be taken literally, why take the bit about gay sex literally. Why isn't that one of the laws that doesn't apply any more? How do you know it applies wheras all the others in Leviticus don't? Is there a verse that says all of Leviticus doesn't apply, except about gay sex?
I never could understand why people believe this bull crap.People often ask me , Why, I am happy most of the time, I tell them , its because I was not raised any where near a church or a bible
I think it due to a lack of critical thinking skills and indoctrination. The basic idea behind all these belief systems is cosmic justice, whether it's heaven/hell or karma. This is the motivation for belief, fear of hell, and the desire to go to heaven. Once they believing, the fear prevents them from even thinking along different lines. They use their gut, rather than their intellect to determine truth.
