@Truemoderate I am not an actual New Yorker so I wouldn't be able to give you the exact answer. On weekends, along with peak hours, I can say traffic is worse. It is better to drive in Manhattan in early morning and late night. Any part of New York City is crowded but I will say it's way too crowded in the midtown Manhattan. I will also say that parking and tolls are a rip-off, for sure, and you will have a hard time even finding parking.
@bcre8iv94 the train is a great way to go in, out and around Manhattan (including subways too). It is a quick way of getting around. If you go to places like Europe, the train is actually the best way to go from city to city.

It's always half an hour late, you often don't get a seat and have to stand between a lot of stinky people where most of them are drunk because they are failures. @NHRHS2010 Sorry, I didn't mean to be rude :-) I'm from Germany, and we have DB -> "Die Bahn" wich is late regulary. However, fridays on a certain time there's a different company handling the train traffic, and travelling with them is enjoyable and on time. We have that only fridays though.
I actually enjoy driving, that's why I was wondering. Even when I'm stuck in traffic for hours I never get bored of it, haha :)

But in different countries, like France, and during my more recent trips to Europe (which happened to be an Italian trip), the on time performance seems better. Amtrak also has problems with on-time performance.

However, i wouldnt be fustrated at the the traffic jam because sitting in traffic gives me good oppurtunities to snap photos of manhattan and enjoy the view. now if i was in a hurry i would have no choice but to take the train.

The best way to get around NYC is by train/subway. Although taxi may seem convenient, it is actually not really, since it's expensive and there are a lot of traffic.

in reality the subway takes longer than a half hour (if it takes you a half hour to park then youre doing it wrong), plus on the subway you are usually crammed into hundreds of strangers usually stinking of urine. driving is quicker, cheaper than a train ticket, more convenient, and way more comfortable. then again i would hazard a guess that 95% of people cant grasp difficult concepts like parallel parking, checking your mirrors to change lanes, keeping up with traffic, etc.
Do you realize this is Manhattan. In case you don't notice, driving in Manhattan is a disaster. Tolls, high parking fees, you name it. Taking the train is just much easier...go into Penn Station and easily go into a subway or walk. Driving, I have to deal with annoying tolls, traffic on Route 9A (if I take the GWB), and more traffic on Manhattan roads, and have a hard time finding a parking lot, and that is a waste of money. And for commuters, trains are more effective so THINK TWICE next time.
sorry but for the majority of normally functioning adults driving in manhattan is thousands of times easier and quicker (even with traffic) than the subway. tolls are pretty easy to avoid. for example, instead of looking for a parking lot in one of the most densely populated areas on the planet and then paying out the ass to park for 30 minutes, i will probably just drive in any direction for 3 minutes until i find a spot on the street. of course most people cant seem to parallel park anyway...

And as someone living in the suburbs, I refuse to drive into Manhattan, although I did once drive in downtown San Francisco. What I don't like about city driving is, aside from traffic, there are lots of stoplights. I do enjoy taking a drive in the countryside, though.

in reality the subway takes longer than a half hour (if it takes you a half hour to park then youre doing it wrong), plus on the subway you are usually crammed into hundreds of strangers usually stinking of urine. driving is quicker, cheaper than a train ticket, more convenient, and way more comfortable. then again i would hazard a guess that 95% of people cant grasp difficult concepts like parallel parking, checking your mirrors to change lanes, keeping up with traffic, etc.

Do you realize this is Manhattan. In case you don't notice, driving in Manhattan is a disaster. Tolls, high parking fees, you name it. Taking the train is just much easier...go into Penn Station and easily go into a subway or walk. Driving, I have to deal with annoying tolls, traffic on Route 9A (if I take the GWB), and more traffic on Manhattan roads, and have a hard time finding a parking lot, and that is a waste of money. And for commuters, trains are more effective so THINK TWICE next time.

sorry but for the majority of normally functioning adults driving in manhattan is thousands of times easier and quicker (even with traffic) than the subway. tolls are pretty easy to avoid. for example, instead of looking for a parking lot in one of the most densely populated areas on the planet and then paying out the ass to park for 30 minutes, i will probably just drive in any direction for 3 minutes until i find a spot on the street. of course most people cant seem to parallel park anyway...

Well, in Manhattan, driving is a disaster, especially during peak hours. The number of cars are just piling up on highways these days and there are too much pollution and greenhouse gases. I don't find driving convenient in Manhattan. Obviously, Route 101 in California is much more convenient for driving. If you think driving is easier even with traffic, is more convenient, then think again in 2017, when a new tunnel under Hudson River is completed. But I find trains more convenient to Manhattan

No, I am from NEW JERSEY, not New York. But I can ride my bike to the New York state border, since New Jersey is a small state. I grew up in California in the 1990s.
Sometimes, when someone leaves a retarded comment, depending on how bad it is, I do reply in a tone where it will seem angry because it's in all caps. Thanks for admitting that your first comment was retarded, however, part your second comment was also retarded. What makes you think that I am whining like a baby!?! I am approaching my adulthood and I will graduate from high school next year...a bit to old to whine and cry!! Why do you take some innocent people's video commentaries as whining? Even though everyone knows that NYC traffic sucks, it's still worth posting a video. THINK TWICE next time instead of just assuming things about me!!
