It seems to me that as time passed Sabertooth kept degenerating more and more into an animal. In the civil war and ww1 flashbacks sequences Liev didn't seem to have fangs. In ww2 he had tiny fangs. By the time he was hunting mutants for Striker he had very noticible fangs. by the 1st. X-Men movie Tyler Is a more feral Sabretooth. He can't even retract his claws anymore.
@DVH041793 The premise, (at least in the comic) is that he isnt quite sure Logan IS his brother. He knows theres a connection but isn't sure what it is other than hatred. (this is shown because everyear on Logans birthday, sabertooth tracks him down and fights him) and just like Logan cant remember because his memory was wiped, Sabertooth can't remember because his mind has gone so far over to the embracing of the animalistic side.
i'd prefer the Tyler Mane Sabertooth. He's sexier as the one in the first one i dont like the Liev version. He just dont fit the Sabertooth look...I like Liev but not better than Tyler. :/

As Victor gave in more and more to his inner animal , his eyes turned black ( such secondary mutations ARE NOT uncommon in The Comics ) , he dyed his hair blond and grew it out along with his beard to more closely resemble The Animal from which his Codename is derived , lost the ability to retract his claws and lost much of his memory and sentience which is why in X1 he showed Victor`s sadism & bloodlust but little
I like to think that maybe Sabretooth had some sort of experiments done to him to make himself bigger, like maybe William Stryker or Magneteo did something to him at some point in between Origins and X-Men1.
As for which one I liked better, I think I would have to give personality points to Shreiber who really nailed that sadistic cruelty that makes Sabretooth so evil. Mane however, gets all the points as far as appearance and ferocity go.
