No reason to be scared. I have PCOS and it took some nerve for me to eventually go to the doctor to be tested because I was so scared, but when I finally went and got the knowledge I needed, I felt a lot better because I now know it is treatable (but no cure). Besides, waiting to go to the doctor can cause even more issues. Best advice...make an appointment with your GYN as soon as possible. You will do just fine. :)

I am 22 and have PCOS (diagnosed at age 15). It runs deeply in my family (i.e. my mother, cousins). The longest I have missed a period was 2 yrs :( mood swings are crazy and losing weight is very difficult.

Hi Shanda, I have PCOS, it actually went full blown after I gave birth to my son who is now 4, I have cyst on my ovaries, high blood pressure, hair on my face and alot of fat around my waist, weight loss has been hard for me due to cravings but I will try chiral balance to see if it helps with hormones as well as exercise..

I have PCOS but I don't suffer from weight gain, just horrendous cramps, fatigue, and now nausea from the meds. i'm not trying to get pregnant so I don't know if I can.

thanks Shanda i understand more about PCOS... i felt better now today is my 1st day with METFORMIN so ill see how it gos. i want a baby so bad that some times a fill so bad. i been trying for more than 16 years but this is the 1st time taking METFORMIN. :(

I was diagnosed this year w/ pcos,i knew something was wrong when i couldnt get pregnant and i was gaining weight like crazy! I kept going back and forth 2 the dr and they said it was nothing,Well,i started doing my own research & found out about pcos,i called the dr's office & told them i wanted an ultrasound & BAM!!! There it was, cysts on both of my ovaries (smh).Im currently on metformin but its still so hard to lose weight and i find myself emotional all the time,I hate this,im so unhappy!

Thank you for doing a video on this. There are so many women affected and in the dark with not knowing. I've had PCOS since I was a teen but wasn't diagnosed until I got married at 27 and started trying to get pregnant. Im still trying to get pregnant and it is a difficult journey. I encourage women to do their research as well.

I recently went to the DR to get tested for pcos. I have all the symptoms from the hair growth to the hair loss. My DR said all my labs were within range. I have a ultrasound tomorrow if it is normal, do you think i should ask to see a specialist?

im 16 and i have PCOS i was diagnsed at 12/13

the weight gain thing isnt a big issue anymore coz im not huge but im not comfi with it im 5foot 2 weighing 11stones/ 154 pound.. im always tryna get rid of the weight but i cant.. it goes up n comes back down to that figure never below it.. i dont know what to to?? diets dont seem to work.. work outs make me butch lookin.. please help if you can

i also have PCOS i grow hair from my chin my legs and everything ...ive had it since i was really young like at age 13 i didnt realize it will i turned 16 and all the chin hairs grew out...mustache and all...just like shanda if i didnt keep up with myself i would look like a man...sometimes i would tweeze the hairs which would grow into a pimple and i would scratch it...and it would turn into a black mark (very embarrassing) thank you shanda for highlighting what PCOS is

I got diagnoses with this amoungst other things at a very young age and I have learned to live thru it all. I was !4 when I got dx with it and was told i would be sterile before 28 and if i wanted to have a child it would need to be conceived prior to my 25 bday and it just so happened that on my 25th bday I found out i was 31/2 months pregnant and didnt know it because the absence of a normal menstral cycle. But i can relate completely n know that i will have my trials and tribulations thru it

Shanda thank you for doing a video on this. I just found out this past year that I have PCO and it's been a bit hard to go through it., at such a young age. I still sometimes get depressed and feel so alone. But this video made me see that I'm not the only one. I was also embarrassed about. But I have a supportive boyfriend who understands. But thank you so much!

I get hair on my lower chin, how do you maintain it? I try to pluck it with tweezers when I can, but is there an easier way?

I also get the dark mask on my neck n it can get really embarrasing at times. But it gets lighter sometimes...There's no cure, unfortunately, but there are medications like birth control that can help ppl live with it. Its a horrible everyday sufferage...

I've had PCOS since I was 11, I will now be turning 20 in March 2010. I hate the fact that I cannot have kids on my own, without being medically helped, because of this I sometimes feel not woman enough. I get the excessive hair, I've gone 1year n 4 months w/o my period, I have small tatas, lol, well for my body size I think, I wheigh 330lbs, n it has been extremely difficult to lose this wheight. I was 100lbs lighter like last year. It totally sucks. Depression, headaches, high BP, etc...

Well, when you last mentioned this disorder I became curious and did some research on my own. When I read the symtoms, I did notice that I had a lot of the symtoms. Well, I had a visit today with my gyn and I have to wait on some results. I know it is going to be a process, but I wanted to thank you for sharing this with us.
