  • I told my best friend and she knew all along.. I didn't know it was that obvious! bahahah

  • *5 Stars*

  • Cheers for sharing your uplifting experiences. It is a great source of confidence.I am at the beginning of the road. I just came out to my brother which was a positive experience. The glass is always half full! Much love from Ireland :-)

  • i love this video, i keep watching it now and then, it cheers me up! ^^

  • I remember your video from the democratic debates!

  • I find myself watching this again periodically. I'm not gay, but I think this video is really amazing! :)

  • This is great! I just stumbled upon it. Kudos to you =]

I'm bisexual, and I just came out to my mother recently, and she took it well. Most of my friends know, but I'm not completely 'out.' This is inspiring! =]

  • This is my favorite coming out video.

    So much inspiration!

  • its a nice video liked the music to it was cheerpy and up beat

  • Best video ever <3 Nice Courage

  • Nice love your speech im a gay guy and YES IT IS AWSOME lol

  • I haven't watched this in so long, but every time I do, I end it with applause.

SUCH a good speech. Way to go. <3

  • This video is making me cry. Ive seen it before and probably commented. I don't remember. I've been looking for support groups and nothing. I'm about to tear my hair out. I would lol if only I was joking. Being hidden is really hurting too much. Thanks for sharing your video. I wish I was able to share the real me too.

  • Go girl. :)

  • that was funny!

    ".......homosexuality."

  • Awesome!

  • YOU ARE AWESOME!

  • I realise that there is no proof that states that homosexuality is or is not genetic, environmental or even has requirements to be called a disease. What is well documented in psychology and pyscho-therapy literature is that the greater your reaction to something, particularly in reference to anger or digust does directly link to your fear or guilt of you yourself either thinking the same way or fearing you might. Unfortunately, this we can't argue with. It has been proven. Sorry.

  • Brilliant video!

  • Gays can be cured if they are given the proper treatment. A person cannot be naturally born gay.

Man and woman are biologically designed to reproduce offspring, and a person cannot biologically reproduce offspring through a gay relationship.

People only become homosexual when they are exposed to and influenced by external societal influences.

  • dear john,

Am I correct in saying that you are not an professor or such to be leaving such laughable comments to said video.. firstly being a homosexual has never EVER been scientifically proven or ever will be proven as a disease..secondly to state the obvious paragraph2 just goes to show how much thought you put into this..and finally :) I myself was raised in a loving hetrosexual family with traditional family values..they still love their gay daughter..you fear ppl different from yourself.

  • cured? it isnt a sickness. and its not always a choice. there are those who do chose it but more then the majority cant help it. your a very close minded person to think like that. you have no idea what its like being told what is right and having your heart tell you other wise. its a very confusing time and people like you just make it harder.

  • john you moron, I AM GAY, AND I WAS BORN THIS WAY! I have never been attracted sexually to females. There is no treatment to "cure" homosexuality. And besides, homosexuality isn't a disease, it doesn't need a cure ...

You're a moron, go slip into something more comfortable .. Like a coma!

  • a very important message i lol at her informing bigots on the proper spelling of dyke

  • wow.

    very powerful...i loved it.

    *this is awesome!* lmao!

oh yeh...and some people really do need ot grow up.

    love is love.

    deal with it.

  • God i remember when i came out. I was working up to it for about 2 years. I started dropping hints about my questioning around 13. By 15 i knew for sure i was gay. Im proud to say that my mother and father have been behind me 100% and that i am not ashamed to say im gay. If someone asks me i will not lie cause im proud of who i am and who i love! Love this video. It helped me to come out to my mom!

  • Awesome video!

  • LOL

    This is Awsome!

  • All i say is you can't be a christian and gay! I'm not a christian i just know in the bible it does say homosexuality is an abomination to god! Last we are not Homophobic! Phobia means fear of! We ain't scared of you just think your sick ass pervert's!

  • You're wrong. It's called Leviticus, and it's an outdated moral code, based on the needs of the time (keeping kosher, not getting tattoos so as not to be identified as a savage) and the biggest one, the need for people to populate. So they put it in the bible.

There's a movie you should watch. Because the Bible Tells Me So.

  • This is so good! =D

Also, I'm bi and find you very attractive. Not really sure why, I usually dig the femme types.

  • I like your style, keep talking sista!

  • Great Vid! Wow, I saw that Presidential Debate! :) I LOVED it when your video was shown, I swear I about had a heart attack it was So Awesome!

18 and in the closet... Never been kissed..

  • brilliant vidoe, well made and just all round good!!

  • thats damn inspirational

  • I love this vid. :')

  • Awh. This is my favourite lgbtq-related video on youtube! It's so inspirational, well-made, and it's not preachy. (Unlike some of the hater comments (which isn't it funny are all religion based?). I mean, get a backbone already. If you have to believe in something you don't have ANY proof over, you must be one weak individual. When there's proof, i'll apologise. The bible is not proof, either. If anything it's propaganda. *shudders at the thought*)

  • loved it! make a documentary! you the perfect type for that!

il say as the others and you!

    1. this is awesome!

    2. i cant wait to show my friends =D

  • Your a lesbian! HAHA!!! No, jk! Lol, I am bi and I hate it when people treat you differently because of your sexuality, it makes me want to get an apple and throw it at that person! *One time I threw an apple at my best friend when he said that being Christian was stupid*

  • Christianity is stupid. :P

  • Two things:

    1) This video is AWESOME!

    2) It's very true that you come out more than once. Very good point! :)

  • i loved this video so much<33333 and the "i can't wait to tell my mom" bit, i can't wait for that day either

  • This is an awesome vid! Thanks for making! It fits how I feel about being gay perfectly.

  • Awesome video, you're a great lass.

  • My God, this is disgusting and this person is talking about living an unatural sinful life like it's a good thing, trying to make it sound like it's alright and fun to jump on the band wagon. What a poor and lost person so blinded by lust... The gay army is always looking for new recruits.

  • =[ why are u so hateful of gay people, who cares what they do, i'm all for it, equality.

bet if u knew a "gay lad or lass" you wouldnt be so scared.

    this girl is awesome!

  • You my friend are the blind one. Your following an old book which is so very very old, about a bloke who created miricles and his invisible dad. Yes it was blunt but hay thats what it's like in the real world. And gay ppl rn't blinded by lust, they're blinded and hurt by ur old mentalitly and your 'the load is a creator' preaching!!!!

    PEACE

    Footygirl108

  • great video.. really

  • since several years there seems to be an exodus from the closet. i wonder, when do they start migrating back into the closet?

  • i want you to know that you are one of my heroes

  • Awesome video, should be required viewing :D

    <3

  • Fair play to both of u,i hope it works out well,id always say live and let live

  • wau!! what a great video!! super super!! =)

  • i'm opposed to gay pride - because it does nothing but accentuate the differences between being gay and straight - gay people and straight people differ only insofar as who they are attracted to - there's no reason to start trying to make gays seem so different from straight people. That's what I hate. Sexuality should not be any kind of issue, since it dictates nothing about your personality or the quality of your character

  • I think you are super cool.

  • very inspirational. thanks for making this video. "i cant wait to tell my mom" i wish i felt this way.

  • that was inspirational. thanks for making this video.

  • This video is brilliant :D

You made me feel good, thanks :)

  • i am a bisexual 18 year old who is engaged to another woman. i loved this video when i saw it, because i felt the exact same things. wow. thank you for posting this

  • Nowadays, anything can happen between two or more people. I used to ask people who I felt acted differently than me the following: "There are guys that play with girls; guys that play with guys; and guys that play with themselves - which one are you?" I am straight by the way. Only thing about homosexuality is that people of the same sex cannot reproduce - they can only recruit. I have met a few people in the military whose parents were a couple of nice guys though.....don't ask, don't tell

  • Ok, I don't know if the person in this video is the same as the person who posted it, but either way I just want to say

Take no notice of the ignorant knobheaded neanderthals they would not know beauty or love even if it bit them in the arse. Most likely. Love and acceptance without any question is more important. Hence why we come out.

And what is so sick about same sex love and attraction. We have red blood, we are both human, we are adults. Thats one thing that has never made sense.

  • Come to Canada where we support same sex marriage! Toronto Gay Pride week is a wonderous sight to behold. I am straight but attend every year and I am PROUD to say I will be taking my son this year as well. Celebrating being gay isnt about sex, its about LOVE...and the god that I believe in put someone here on earth for every single one of us to love.I find it highly amusing that so many comments contain these references to god/religion. GOD MADE GAYS.

  • This video got me thinking, I'm 19 and, I came out to my friends about a year ago that I was a lesbian, and they were really supportive. So thats good. But when my mom found out, she was mad. She started yelling u know... and I didn't know what to say, but the next day its like nothing ever happened. Its not talked about. Which makes me feel kinda akward at times. But I'm glad its over now.

  • this video is great. it's honest and funny. not to mention makes a very difficult thing seem much less scary :D

  • Fed up of denying it :(

    gonna happen soon

    DREADDING IT

  • Congrats... but I'm 16 & I already kissed another girl, yea... n I thought "wow -- omg..." I also thought "what if mum finds out"... she's asked me on several occasions if I'm a lesbian... but I always change the subject -- I know I am... but I'm scared she'll blame it on my dad ciz he's gay!! (amazing life, I know... lol)

    What do I do??

  • haha i know what u mean. i have the same thing going on but backwards. im 13 and i have started to like a girl for the first time ever. its been kinda wierd. i think i might be bi but im still not sure. anyways my mom told me she was gay when i was in 6th grade. im just scared that if i really am bi my dad will blame it on her. i know how you feel girl! good luck;)

  • tell her! if ur dad is gay then she understands its not a choice by now surely, she will luv u.. good luck

  • The sooner you tell her, the sooner things will be better between you. No matter what stuff you guys have to overcome.

  • Hell Yea!! Im so glad you put this video up every other week i say something that make people think "is she gay"i have to explain that im bisexual and people generally accept it my mom always knew she says it runs in the family (her sister is lesbian) so she excepts but isnt too comfortable around it =[

  • That was beautiful. Thank you. :)

  • you is my hero. love this video.

  • Nicely done! Thank you

  • ahaaa i love this so much

  • ahaaa i love this so much

  • as a mom x 4... i want all of them to say they cannot wait to tell me about the things that make their worlds turn, for good or ill... i absolutely love love LOVE this video!!

  • u sound like a great mom

  • i love this video

  • you rock! u r my gay role model... I came out to my parents at 13... "Mom, Dad, I'm Bi."

  • im sad you disabled the ratings on this vid, otheriwse i would have given you ten stars!!!! great vid!!!

  • GREAT VIDEO!

  • This Video Rocks. Thanks so much for posting. =)

  • lovely video! =)

    i came out too :P

  • your amazing!

  • yay this is awesome =] very nice video. Love it!

    G-d bless.

  • I have watched this so many times. Very inspirational.

  • i love this video!

  • **LOVE IT!**! This video totally made me teary-eyed. I hope the next generation wont even have to come out - I hope they don't ever feel the need to be in the closet to begin with!

  • I like this video too. Children SHOULD see this, especially if they're gay, because some parents will teach their kids about homosexuality by saying or implying that it's wrong (like mine)Until this year, no one ever told me that it's ok. So videos like this one are inspiring and necessary.

  • Ireland is very open to homosexuality

  • This is great. I loved it. I am 16 and I came out last year... it was scary. But I wasn't quite as smooth as just telling my mom when she asked me, I blurted it out during dinner one evening.

  • I'm not gay, but this message still really struck me. A good message, not to be afraid but proud of who ever you are. If only the whole world were this open!

  • So good, ~whispers~ homosexuality, ~shifty eyes~

totally know what that is all about

  • lezbo

  • cool this makes feel more great about my self and now i just turned 15 , i feel like that i know now that i am lesbian

  • I love this video!

    the ends really great

    :]

  • Thank you so much, this is an amazing message. thank you

  • HAHA, "This is awesome" your great and you really made me smile.

  • I LOVE YOU!!!!!! I came out when I was in 8th grade. It was hell, but now, I'm sooo happy. !

  • THIS IS AWSOME;-))

  • this is quite an interesting video, not so much for the actual content as to the fact that there is no opinion contrary to the one stated in the video throughout the comments... now, why is that?

  • I'm just starting the proces you described.. I told my mum and some friends, but.. I still need a lot of time to decide the right moment to tell my family... Thanx for uploading this wonderful demonstration against fear and blame that encourage each person who watches it to go on feeling and loving and breathing a new air full of hopes...I'm 20 and.. I wich i can face the constant and permanent comig out.. THANX AGAIN. Laura

  • Wonderful video. Every word you spoke was true and just like all satire, so very funny. Thanks for the sarcasm and wit that has helped so many people, whether they're homosexual or not, accept who they are and love themselves for it.

  • if i found out my son was gay id be really disappointed not angry. i guess its because we wouldnt have anything in common. if i found out my daughter was a lesbian i wouldnt care. in fact we would have more in common, we like the same gender.

  • you: no. 1; THIS IS AWESOME

haha that did make me chuckle

but yeah good video, I'm sure it will make people feel more confident in their future decisions if they watch it. Xxx

  • Hey guys, I use to be a homophobe but now since my girlfriend, and yes I am a guy, has gay friends. They are cool to hang out with sometimes. I just don't like the gay guys. The ones who are REALLY prissy. I can stand gay people, just the one in tights and stuff are ....... anyway, just to tell ya

  • you are my inspiration, and a wonderful person, with a wonderful sence of humor. i wish my parents were that excepting, but the're to narrow minded. i'm a 15 year old gay guy, and i've never said it to another living soul. now i'm writing it in public! it's all thinks to ppl like you, kind stranger, for giving me the confedence to come out, i'm planing to come out to my family on arbor day this year. thinks again, best wishes for you and your future wife!

  • seems as if youtube is only posting the positive responses...hmm...

  • That's because completely made of awesome people do exist despite the George Bush's and Fred Phelps' in the world. Isn't it grand? :D

  • seems as if youtube's only posting the positive responses...hmmm...

  • Made me smile

You're a very kind, sweet, inspirational woman and you've got a great message :) This video has inspired me a lot

  • You are so freaking hilarious!

  • Hi Mary!!! I showed my mother this a couple months back, introducing it as: "Oh, look. This is funny." I'm not sure if I am bisexual or not, so I suppose it was a bit of a test since I know she want me to have a family when I grow up. This made her tear up and she said, "To think that she thought she couldn't share part of her identity with her mother!" I'm still not sure what I am, but I'm not so scared anymore. Thank you.

  • You are a truly an inspirational woman...

  • I did come out twice... First time was in my therypist ofice and she ask if I was gay and I cryed and said yes... My mom cryed dad was like I know hunny.. The next day I said to my mom I ment gay as in happy gay ya thats it.. Two years latter I came to my mom and said I am gay gay she huged me and said I know and it is ok now.. So I gUESS I am lucky to have two great parents..

  • my mum knew that i was gay.

i went out with my freinds, came home, mum asked if i had a good time, i said yes, then asks did i meet a girl, i said no. then i said i got something to say, she said did i get a girl pregnant, i said no i am gay. then she said i kinda knew so i said i wish you had told me.

    quite short but effective.

  • you seem rly funny. u have character..something wich most ppl rarely develop. vry good vid 5/5

  • you are AWESOME!

  • hahahaha i loved your video!!!

    i support you mary!!

    best of luck from mexico

  • This is AWESOME!!! xD

  • I got out on my birthday, last year xD

  • this makes me proud to be the little siter to a openly lesbian woman!!!!

    I luv you Tara!!!

  • you are AWSOME :) subscribed to you!

  • Oh my goodness the "This is AWESOME" totally went through my head when I kissed a girl for the first time!! Thankfully, my mother didn't factor into any of it. :) hurray!

  • You, Mam, are awesome beyond reason and a role model for us all!

    Brilliantly said

My dad "cornered" me a while back. I took the second choice.

  • this is...freaking amazing. you are definitely my hero. thanks for this video

  • haha. "THIS IS AWESOME!" I laughed.

Anyway, my friend just came out at the age of 14, her mom reacted very...well...wierd. First she kicked her out for the night, and then the next day talked to her and told her that she accepted her, and then the next day refused to talk to her. It was awkward unitl I encouraged my friend to talk to her mom and "clear the air" between them. Her mom now accepts the fact that she likes girls, and they even went to a pride convention together.

  • I love your video. It makes me happy. Thanks from the heart :D

  • Wow coming out to my ex girlfriend to explain why I broke up with her ( I had passed through the "unsure" stage of puberty and turned out gay) was the hardest thing I ever did but afterwards she told me how proud she was of me to be so honest with her and now we're incredibly close friends!

  • This is wonderful. Thank you for this video.

  • Awesome video! I especially liked the end. Haha.

  • Fantastic video! Very good editing. Good way of telling the story. Alive. Intimate. Direct. Communicats well. Take hold of me. Very good ending. Super!!!

    And YouTube really rocks!

  • A lot of things she says is def true. I completly understand where shes coming from. kudos. :]

  • great video

  • did i just see you on an improveverywhere video!? yay!

  • "this is AWESOME"

LOL I loved that line. It's good to see people coming out more.

  • I came out to my best friend today! Couldn't have had a better response from him!

/Extremely happy 22 year old gay guy and a proud 22 year old straight guy

  • hm . . . how come this vid's not on the promoted video listing? I actually want more people to comment on it.

  • Aww that was a sweet video! I feel so awkward being okay with gay people because everyone in my family is hardcore conservative. =/

  • you are improving your family by doing that! good for you and stay that way!!

  • That video was very awesome. You are now on my official list of heroes. Thank you. =]

  • Wow. I come from Ireland and I still haven't came out to my parents but your video is inspirational thank you so much. Now i can't wait to tell my mom. :)

  • I hope you wake up every day smiling, knowing you helped us....all of us. Love the Arbor Day comment. As a decidedly straight 54 year-old male, I would LOVE to have a daughter like you. I can tell you're a strong woman, and even though I don't know you personally, in the best of ways, I consider you family (the best of words, in my opinion.....family).

  • Not only is the video inspiring, it's great to see how much support people offer in their comments.

  • u go girl

  • Who cares?

  • wow! this is really inspiring. I'm a gay 16 year-old guy and i've only come out so far to some very close friends but ur video gave me alot of courage. I also live in an irish catholic family that doesn't discuss ANYTHING!!! so its very hard for me.

  • good job

  • This is such an amazing message

  • The ending was adorable, it was perfect

  • THIS IS AWESOME.

Ahh, the world needs more people like you. :]

  • Thank You-"This is Awesome!" Still in Closet..

  • THIS is awesome :'] Thank you for this, really needed it :D

  • i'm a straight guy and i think its great that people are more tolerant these days.but ive heard that places in the U.S. are going a bit " bakwards " in their beliefs. come and live in britain because its no-one gives a shit. gay, straight, catholic, muslim whatever. PEACE

  • you are a completely amazing person!

  • Go you .. !

    x

  • Great! Your message got across fantastically well. Good job ;-)

  • This is great. I am straight, but really appreciate how easy it is becoming for many people to come out. Hopefully, very soon nobody will have any fears about coming out; it's no different to saying you vote Republican not Democrat, or you prefer yellow to green.

  • after watching this video for the first time, I thought, you are awesome. And now you've come out on YouTube! I'd let you get married. To each other.

You've got a talent for confidence, welld one for making this :)

  • LOVE YOU ;*

  • YOU. ARE. KICK. AZZ! oh my goddess i swear i love it! i just realized that im gay...still have to dump that dude....but anywho! inspiring really! lol you go girl!!!

  • *grin*

    really great

put a big smile on my face

    and it´s so true!

  • cool, I like the end

  • Awesome vid!

Unfortunately I'm too nervous to come out intentionally. D: Although it gets harder to lie all the time and I slip up a lot. Thankfully my mum found out so I don't have to lie to her anymore. Woo!

PS: What tune/song is in the background? It's been bugging me all week.

  • good for you

  • Woooo! That's so awesome. That made me smile a lot. :D

  • Me too! aw, such happy things. xD

  • I really don't know just how to say thanks in the right way. The world needs more people like you. And kudos for not denying who you are

  • You put a big ol smile on my face! I wish people could marry those they love, and I wish being gay didn't have to be hard for people.

  • I love you.

  • Great message. Well-spoken. In fact, quite well done overall! Really enjoyed watching - when's the next installment?!

  • well done!!

  • yay i love you

  • haha I love you

  • Awesome video, and kudos to you for coming out !

  • that was AWESOME

  • why the hell are people rating encouraging comments about this video, i say well done for coming out to your parents and congratulations for finding happiness because at the end of the day, it's not the gender of the person who you love, it's the fact you love them, and if anybody out there feels like being a homophobic, although you may deny it, disliking homosexuality, IS being homophobic, and at the end of the day, the world is moving on to accept homosexuality, so move with it.
