What some damn idiots! You tree huggin idiots think your gonna stop mining... Haha! It makes up fir more then half of our nations power source. It's funny these people think they know a thing or 2 but in reality they don't know shit! Just like eastky said your all just followers who don't know what your talkin bout. Pour the coal baby! Hell yeah!
These people are ridiculous! Noone is destroying or mining the property of the people being interviewed. These people have absolutely no right to demand that a law abiding, property owner should lose their rights as a landowner. If I owned a mountain and it had coal under it, you better believe that Id have it mined...and so would these sympathy seeking puppets of the film makers (who incidentally are created just to get funding from a rich corporation due to the non profit tax benefits).
Coal kills when and where it is mined, when and where it is burned, and when and where its waste is disposed of. The destruction of public housing is in large a result of coal ash waste used as fill dirt, dumps, and landfills from coal-gasification plants that operated throughout this country between 1880s and 1960s until natural gas put them out of business. Now coal-gasification plants are resurfacing as "clean coal." MY video shows coal waste in public housing.
haha for the old lady in the vid talking about the trailer i post 1 question to her.
how in the hell is the trees on the top of the mountain being removed effecting that house's yard to be flooded, rain falls ALL over not just on the top of the mountain, so you need to find something else to support your complaint.
these are some ignorant individuals who has probably never been on a Strip Job in their entire lives. its sad their just Followers.
@EastKyMiner21 To me it sounds like you're a strip miner. So what else can you say because you're trying to protect your job which is blowing up,tearing down & destroying forever some of the most beautiful mountains that God put on this earth. You don't know what you're even talking about - you're just being defensive because you know the type of work you're doing is WRONG! I wonder what kind of job you'll get when all the mountains & coal are gone smartass!
Coal keeps the lights on. MTR doesn't destroy the culture of Appalachia, mining made Appalachia. Many generations of people have provided for familys by mining coal. MTR doesn't destroy land. The land that is mined is steep hill that can be used for anything else. After the MTR the land is left flatter and livestock can be ran on that land. We need coal to keep the lights on and we need more room to farm. Also the Rocky Mountain Elk being brought in to Ky are living in reclaimed strip mines.
licmycat, now heres someone on here with a dumbass name like that telling people to get counsling. the only thing thats going to wake idiots like you up is tripleing your electric bill,or loosing your yellow checks, remember we work to keep sorry asses like you up.
No Mountaintop Removal. Dig coal like a man -- mine it. Don't destroy our communities. Don't put miners out of work. Don't level our ancient, beautiful mountains. Don't pollute our streams.
actually many people that post comments on here are working individuals as well. you must stop being ignorant and see that mtr is destructive and irrepairable.
this is sick. destroying that beautiful landscape, uprooting trees, polluting bodies of water and sacrificing the lives of people who've been there for many generations. when is it going to stop?
these are just a bunch of old bats that don't work anymore and need to take up knitting or something. Move to Monroe Co or any other county if this upsets you so bad. I would live where I hated it no matter how many grand daddies have lived here before me. It's like Dupont plant or any other strife you carry in your life move some where that you can relax and not have to argue all the time. I live in chemical valley, smog I hope to move one day I don't idolize my house that much
Tell me, where would they get the money to move? Most of the folks affected by MTR are extremely poor, and telling them to move is ridiculous. Even in the best of times, they've never had much in the way of money through most of these areas. Not only that, but why should they have to move away from the land they love so much, and allow these mountains to be torn down? If these companies would work with the communities, I believe they could find a better way to go about getting the coal.
Build your house on top of the reclaimed mine areas. The valleys always flood given enough time. WV has to build homes in flood plane or on side of mountain. Some of the reclamined mine sites make good development locations.
Your ancestors are most likely the ones that sold the coal rights to the coal companies. If your ancestors had kept the coal royalites then no company could mine the property. So therefore those who have lived in the area for generations are to blame also.
You people bitching about strip mining need to thing about one thing. If it wasnt for coal you all wouldnt have blacktopped roads or power when you flipped your lightswitchs in your houses. Go get a life and find something else to worry about instead of trying to stop the one industry in east ky that puts food on mine and everybody elses table.
I drive a coal truck for a living and I'm not going to sit quiet while a bunch of tree humpers try to step in and take money from my pocket by stopping mining.
Wrong! People are speaking out about this whether it is union or non union. We are suffering from the millions of pounds of explosives used daily in the bombing of our communities. The water is poisoned as well. Stop mountaintop removal.
Oh my, those poor defenseless mountain tops. It's a massacre, it's a genocide, it's the worst tragedy ever! LMAO! What a load of crap! These people act as if moutain tops have feelings too. LOL!
You must surf from site to site about MTR just to show your stupidity. Why don't you just post a video of yourself and call it.." The most ignorant dumb-ass bastard on planet earth, (with nothing to do, or intelligent to say..DUH !)"
You must be the most ignorant bastard ever to pollute the mediastream that is the Internet. I grew up in those mountains and I am personally trying to change the politics of how this is being handled. BTW.. IF you HAD a Soul you might understand how a person can be linked to a place............especially a mountain! Hope you find YOUR soul someday............Jeff

I love how all these comments assume that all people opposed to destroying Appalachia are collecting welfare.
Do you think Daryl Hannah, Ken Hechler, and James Hansen collect welfare?
I suppose they are dirty hippies too.
Grow up.

Not on my watch. I will spend every day from this day forward putting a stop to the destruction.

Years ago when mineral rights were sold to coal companies by landowners, mountain top removal did not exist!
