The way to pay for health care is to start putting a federal added value tax on Fried Chicken, expensive basketball shoes, rims over 20", gold teeth, grape soda, barbecue potato chips and Lil' Wayne concert tickets. This would not only pay for health care it would balance the budget.

Americans are required to have auto insurance but not health insurance. I think it's time we put the thing most important in front of money, a car or political affiliation. All citizens should have the right to live and end living with dignity, not as a cash cow. Those against this bill (which moving in the right direction) should stop being so cynical. For example, we only had an actual surplus for just 1 year of the Clinton Admin in FY1999. We had "technical surpluses" but the government was actually losing money.

We'll probably attempt to borrow from China, Japan, Saudi Arabia, and our usual creditors to cover the rest, increasing the national debt even more. But jobs outside of health care won't be affected much, so it's only a small disaster.

America won't go back to where it's started. Given that it once had slavery, lacked a social safety net, banned interracial marriage, lacked protections for workers, didn't allow non-landed non-white people to vote, and had a number of other faults we've fixed, that's a good thing!
The fact is this is just a huge tax and spend bill that will put 18 million more on medicaid and subsidized the rest with a average cost plan of $6300 per year (after the $1500 credit) they will be forced by law to buy. All that and nothing to curb actuall health cost or increase competition and choice to drive down cost and premiums. This is just the first step to a Government takeover. Yet the federal Gov. has proven time and time again it can't run anything effeciently and at cost.
Except it actually does run plenty of things well - roads, schools, post office, fire departments, national defense....
This saves the nation money, and it saves people money. Check the CBO. People need health insurance either way - if they lack it, they face financial ruin even if they get free emergency care.

You wanted ObamaCare you got it and now you will also have the expansion of the IRS in an ominous way that reaches into every American family. FOOLS. Now the IRS will oversee, administer and collect penalties for people who don't buy health insurance. So now you FOOLS will pay for ten years to get benefits for six years, LMAO. Apparently losing their jobs in deterrent is not much of a deterrent to these people. Treason must be very rewarding as well as intoxicating.
If this bill fails, then why doesn't Obama declare a National Emergency and just implement single payer? Can he honestly look 300 million people in the eye on TV and say that it ISN'T?
Single payer systems around the world are failing. They are dealing with rising healthcare cost by rationing care. Some are introducing free market incentives to deal with high cost. Ask yourself this, if say Canada had the technology, state of the art testing equipment and specialized medicine with many more Doctors and Hospitals per capita how much more would there healthcare cost be? It would probably be higher then ours.

Americans are required to have auto insurance but not health insurance. I think it's time we put the thing most important in front of money, a car or political affiliation. All citizens should have the right to live and end living with dignity, not as a cash cow. Those against this bill (which moving in the right direction) should stop being so cynical. It's not perfect, but is a transition to the ideal single-payer system that we desperately need.

How to become Swedish citizen? You have to have lived in Sweden for 5 years to apply for citizenship. As a American I think you could find a job in Sweden live here and work. That would be the best way to enter the system. LOL

Is it Universal Healthcare? No!
Does it make Employer supplied Health Insurance illegal? No!
This bill forces people to buy insurance that takes 15 to 20% of every dollar given to them. Non-Profit insurance? No!
Giving every special interest billions and screwing the American people. I'd rather see them start over again and pass "Universal Healthcare" in October, right before the election.

The fact is this is just a huge tax and spend bill that will put 18 million more on medicaid and subsidized the rest with a average cost plan of $6300 per year (after the $1500 credit) they will be forced by law to buy. All that and nothing to curb actuall health cost or increase competition and choice to drive down cost and premiums. This is just the first step to a Government takeover. Yet the federal Gov. has proven time and time again it can't run anything effeciently and at cost.

Except it actually does run plenty of things well - roads, schools, post office, fire departments, national defense....
This saves the nation money, and it saves people money. Check the CBO. People need health insurance either way - if they lack it, they face financial ruin even if they get free emergency care.
If you go by the numbers, this makes sense.

Not to take anything away from religious charity, but you're stretching the argument a bit. Most hospitals haven't been religious for a very long time. (See first government push into heal care 50 years ago). 2nd I'm not sure which Church you're referring to since we've always had several different ones and civic participation is what built our nation. Not to say religion wasn't important, but you're giving out too much credit. Also, it's been a long time since most universities were religious.

I followed this Campaign day-after-day. I really think all this proves, on strict basis, that that Bill CAN be voted for the great Better-Living of many Americans ; that it has to be done NOW.
That each part of the cost of it has been calculated, tested ; explained, proved again, clearly, and with touching accents (NOT political ones).

If you REALLY need health insurance, see if you qualify for state-sponsored insurance. There are several layers offered by most states. We all LOSE if this bill passes. 32Mil more people seeking medical care, in an already overwhelmed system. where are the extra nurses and doctors gonna come from? Single payer systems around the world are failing. They are dealing with rising healthcare cost by rationing care. Some are introducing free market incentives to deal with high cost. Ask yourself this, if say Canada had the technology, state of the art testing equipment and specialized medicine with many more Doctors and Hospitals per capita how much more would there healthcare cost be? It would probably be higher then ours.
