This goes for Berry Gordy, his family, the artists, the songwriters, administrative staff, and all of everybody else, but today I'm talking about the Andantes: It would not have been the same without them. A different equation would have meant a different answer. I love you girls (Andantes)! I LOVE MOTOWN1
VERY Motown! Great lead from Ann Bogan; it all clicks, holding the middle ground between the Supremes and the Vandellas. I wonder if the Velvelettes got to lay down a version of this.
According to Seabear, it was released (hence the number) but all copies were retrieved right away. I find it amazing how close it sounded to the Supremes stuff at that time, three months before Where Did Our Love Go. Maybe Berry didn't want two groups whose sound was VERY similar competing, and he probably preferred Diana.
I've been waiting for somebody to post this song. The Andantes was Motown bacground vocal group probably the best female group to come out during that era. Comprising of Jackie Hicks, Marlene Barrow and Louvain Demps. It is said that Ann Bogan, who later joined the Marvelettes performed the lead vocals on this song. The Andantes stayed with Motown until the company moved to LA in 1972. Louvain Demps continue to be a background vocalist.
sing it Ann!

The lead singer's voice makes me think of Diana Ross' timbre with Florence Ballard's power.
