  • does anyone know what happened to one of these clips. it was just entitled ''the colour of pomegranates'' and it was a really lovely piece of weird music put to more of these video clips? any ideas please let me know. i am getting desparate :(

  • Please, read, then speak about Parajanov and this film. It is armenian film about Armenian musician, poet Sayat-Nova with participation of armenian and georgian artists.

  • @ekilibrium disculapa qu escriba en espanhol..... es una narrativa de trobadores Armenios, represntando las historias contadas en forma de film.

  • Paradjanov is the artist I respect most. The movie he made is very stimulating and it always gives me fresh surprise. Thanks for uploading.

  • amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!! love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Awesome!!!

  • Didn't the Caucasus belong to the Persian Empire at the time ?

  • Awesome video montage and music! Congratulations to the creator :D

  • Sayat Nova is ARMENIAN

  • Sayat Nova is considered by many the ashigh (Azerbaijanian folk singer-songwriter)that ever lived in the Caucasus (the area between the Black and the Caspian sea) and The majority of his surviving ballads are in Azeri, which was the lingua franca of the Caucasus at the time. And he has played on Azerbaijani kamancha.

  • EHTINET, Yes and probably that's why he was an Armenian Priest and prayed to Jesus every morning - in Armenian - that's what all the other inhabitatnts of Cuacasus were doing. If you're trying to claim that Azeris, too, were Christian, do it directly, don't be embarrassed...loooool...you're trying sooo hard to fit in the region - you're moooongooolsss!! You sit on a horse and go killing and stealing...You weere the ones - the Seljuks - who killed him inside the Armenian monastery!!!

  • Huyran,otsosi sam u sebia,churok

  • No, I think your mom is the best proof that lezgins are whores!

  • Vsem armianam! sosite moi istenno kavkazski chlen!

  • No need to be rude just because you're jealouse of us!

Everytime I hear a Georgian or Azeri/Turkish moron call Armenians names...it's so obvious that they're all hate us because they know that we're much better than them and that we're "something' and they're not!

Be jealouse all you want, but no need to be rude about it.

  • Elen373!you are funny poor girl, you really made yourself to believe that you are not even the best, but do you believe that you are somehow good at all? znaiu ti shias o chem dumaesh, i poetomu ti tut pishesh takuiu tupost, du klir uzumes!

  • Ne meshay ludiam obshiaca nashot iskustva, svou nenovistj idi v drugom meste vigavarivay a ne zdesj.

  • you better watch "we are real turk" on youtube, your comments are really needed there!!!!!!!

  • The house is in ruins now instead of being a "Georgian" national monument.

Otherwise, if you (Zviadan & Co) have nothing to say about Parajanov's art (except that "it's Georgian") please don't spread your Georgian nationalist propaganda here via Parajanov. Those who love Parajanov's art worldwide don't deserve that.

  • No doubt, that his house really needed to be restored. But everything he had there, all his arts, pictures and so on were taken to Yerevan, and they made him a house there which didn't exist before in Yerevan. I was there and saw it and was also told by his relative, also armenian woman from Tbilisi, that: "he wanted all these things to be kept in Tbilisi, but they took it here after his death".

  • This is a great Georgian movie. It also shows the ties between Georgia and Armenia. Sayat-Nova, Parajanov(director), as well as many other famous Georgians of Armenian routs, were born, raised, tought... in Georgia, the film is taken in Georgia, the actors are Georgians,

the music is Georgian as well as everything else.

  • And this is a Georgian post made on a Georgian website using a Georgian computer (of Armenian roots).

  • Dont get cross when you hear the truth.

you can just come here to Tbilisi and ask any local Armenian all these and you will hear the same what I have written.

Lets just dont itch each other ok my Armenian brother of Armenian roots. Come down, you arn't Georgian with Armenian roots

  • If you have so much respect for Parajanov's art that you absolutely want him to be a Georgian, you'd rather try to restore his legendary house on the Mtatsminda in Tbilissi where Allen Ginsberg, Marcello Mastroianni, Chris Marker, Tarkovski, etc, etc. came especially to see The Master.

  • But anyways his house is to be restored and there are lots of events and many other things here dedicated to him.

  • In this film they are not only Georgian actors, but also Armenian, and it was shoot in different places as well in Georgia as in Armenia. I know about it because when my father was working on a film the location was not far from the shooting location of Color of pomegranates.

  • ok no problem. great video.

  • :)

    It's a amazing master work

  • You should try to see it in a cinema.

One of the brightest shining moments in film history ever.

    Never touched in its beauty.

    A cineastic eruption.

  • I love this movie. Can someone tell me if i can see it on line Pleaseeeeeeee. Tx

  • a Clip from the Armenian movie "Sayat Nova" [Color of the Pomegranates]..Movie by Sergei Paranjanov [Armenian Filmmaker/ Artist] , Movie taken in Armenia, portrays the Armenian Musician Sayat Nova in various abstract ways. THE MOVIE IS ARMENIAN!!!!

  • actually it's taken in Georgia, and 4 out of 8 actors are Georgian. and Parojanov same as Sayat Nova were born and raised in Georgia.. anyways, great masterpiece!

  • yes Sayat Nova was born in Georgia and Parajanov too, but that does not make a difference, they're both Armenian... does it make a difference where I was born? NO.

  • for art it does, because they were influenced by the place they grew up @

btw most of Sayat Nova's songs are written in Georgian language (hope u won't start arguing on that part too

  • NOPE,I'm not gonna argue about it. not at all. I'm an artist and I have been in fluenced by many things in life, but they don't play a major role, it's the artist, his values, heritage, life..those are main influences. Of course he was influenced by many things we all are afterall. In fact he was huge in the middle east, spoke armenian, georgian, arabic and persian. Too damn many influences, no? it's not the influences, it's the creation.

  • WELL U SAY THIS MOVIE IS ARMENIAN- BUT IT WAS FILMED IN GEORGIA!! ALL churches and scenery are that of Georgia! and 4 out of 8 actors are Georgian - Sophico Chiaureli(Parajanov's inspiration:) she plays about 6 roles in this movie. the handsome man is also Geprgian-Giorgi Gegechkori. Georgian land, Georigan churches.. actors, Sayat Nova's songs are almost all in Georgian.. anyways- need nothing that has anything to do with Armenia

  • Honey, many movies are made by other races, played by other races, but they depict one race , no? Schindler's list made by Amrericans, but it's damn sure about Jews no? played by Americans, but they depict Jews.just because a person's born outside of his homeland does not mean he loses his heritage. I was born in Lebnan, part Arabic and Part Armenian, but raised IN USA.does that somehow make me American because i am influenced by americans everyday??

  • doesn't change the fact that i am Arab-Armenian, i speak 4 languages like Sayat Nova did, does it mean I am not Armenian enough because I lived elsewhere? I don't think so..afterall people go make moves in places that got nothing to do with the whole story, but the actors, location, does NOT change the fact that Sayat Nova is Armenian, Parajanov (Parajanian) is Armenian as well (he lived in Armenia by the way)

  • the movie "mayrig" was made in France, played by french actors (most of them), and made by Henri Verneuil (French born Armenian descendent). The movie is about the Armenian Genocide. so tell me, just because it's french, it means it's about Frech or Armenians?????????

  • what's wrong with u? nobody is arguing Sayat Nova being armenian. God save me from calling any armenian anyhow related to Georgia!! but this MOVIE was shot in Georgia and Churches filmed here are our ancient Churches!! People- Georgian and the movie itself tho is about Sayat Nova but it shows the CAUCASIAN civilization.. let me ask u-when the caucasus heard about hayatas first? wasn't it after Argisht's expansion of Urartu's territories?

  • and as far as glob's map shows-lake Van is far beyond the Laser Caucasus Range. Besides, armenains r Indo-Europeans same as Persians, linguistically and ethnically, what ya guys have to do with the Caucasus?? Lastly, most of the 'Bakinski' armenians i know don't even speak their language, Lebanese armenians already got their dialect even tho1915 was not that long ago.. too fast to give up on self-preservation.

  • Don't think any nation can go along with the kartvels of the Fereidan in that matter. Over 400 years now!!!! Their patriotism, preservation of original language and the very spirit of the nation has no comparisons!

ONCE AGAIN TO AVOID CONFUSIONS: SAYAT NOVA WAS ARMENIAN SO WAS PARAJANOV, THEY BOTH LIVED IN GEORGIA, AND OUR NATIONS HAVE NOTHING IN COMMON! Peace OUT!

  • LOL... I'm not so much of a patriot... don't care about history much. but you know what, it's fine by me, because each culture teaches different histories and each of them contradict each other. totally understandable. no point to carry on an argument , especially a historic one.history varies in each culture, and each country praises only themselves...true?

  • Sayat Nova wrote his poems first of all in Georgian and then he translated them in Armenian, Persian... He is burried in Tbilisi, (come here and I will take you there), because that was his will as well as Parajanovs."Sophico Chiaureli(Parajanov's inspiration:) she plays about 6 roles in this movie. the handsome man is also Geprgian-Giorgi Gegechkori. Georgian land, Georigan churches." Its a great movie.

  • Parajanov's film "Sayat Nova" was mostly shot in Armenia (Haghbad, Sanahin, which are NOT Georgian churches, NOT Georgian land) and partly in Georgia and Azerbaijan. Some studio scenes were shot in Kiev too.

  • In credits it saing Geogian/Armenian film same to locations.
