  • TERMINATOR MUSIC!

  • I am impressed with this. I love realistic animation, like Wall-e. Seriously, you could give Pixar a run for its money.

  • did u ever release the full version?

  • It's almost impossible not to make a spaceship design that isn't just a rehash of the Enterprise. Nice effects, but it seems to be a lot of exciting music matched with a pretty boring wall.

  • Wow - I'm super impressed, sir - very well done.

Infact I've even sent you an email with the hope you might be able to impart some wisdom to me :)

But keep up the amazing work.

  • I just started this 3d modeling and animation stuff...and I just cried at how much of a noob I am :P

  • batllefield 2142 film??

  • Nice Job! Very good. I look forwad to more.

  • VERY GOOD. OUTSTANDING. respect

  • hmmm this is very nice!

Although the detail is on the slightly simpler side (albeit not many people could accomplish what you have done, myself included) It's rather nice.

Mind you I find the background music (which I belive is a score from Planet of the Apes?) doesnt quite suit it.

for a begin intro that tells throws you straight into the problem, you need a mysterious sounding track. (although I'm not a professional at all)

in short, It's very nice, a bit disappointing that its only a test.

  • Very, very nice. What kind of sci-fi authors are you into?? I'm still waiting for someone with your skills to animate some of Ian M. Banks stuff. I honestly don't know why he's not more popular. I'd especially like to see one of his "orbitals" animated or even one of the enormous ships from the Culture series. The scope of the ships can be hard to imagine because they literally have billions of people on them. Keep up the great work man!!

  • @SecretAgent068 Sounds interesting. I'm not a frequent 'reader', so don't have a favourite sci-fi author. Glad you liked the vid though.

  • @jamiefmartin This short is bloody fantastic - Im now a fan too! I dont know how much work/time and how many ppl were needed for that, but the result is AMAZING - I agree with other comments - a movie length with a great storyline would prob make you some serious money! With ancient artifacts, mysterious ruins on other worlds, drifting in deep space/ captured in orbit alien wrecks... all the goodies!!!

  • When I read your comment that this is not a movie, I thought, "Why not?" Get to work dude! If the rest of the "movie" is as good as the intro, you'll have Spielberg calling you.

  • @mike83ny I wish! :-)

  • @jamiefmartin Make it happen. You've just made a fan outta me, so I say go for it.

  • Great stuff as always Jamie!

  • @harvie9999 Thanks Harvie.

  • How much did it cost you to do this and how much time?

  • @dimitraeus202 It 'cost' me many hours of work :-) I couldn't say specifically how long - I was learning 3D at the same time as doing this, so it was drawn out over an extended period.

  • @jamiefmartin ive used Cinema 4D for a few years now and i still have no idea how you manage to texture objects like that!

  • @jamiefmartin

I might need some animation experts for a website in uk so if you like freelance, send me your details. All the best.

  • Music doesn't fit the opening scene..That track would be good for an action scene..not a boring hangar and ship being positioned..it just doesn't fit. Thumbs for graphics.

  • WOAH man this is sick i actually thought this was a movieuntil i read the title woah dude.

  • looks cool

  • movies tell more than you know most stuff is fake if you let it watch something real tho

  • Space Lost And Found Dept: Sir, we had found your spaceship. It crushed into our dept. Please contact asap for billing process.

  • :-)

  • @jamiefmartin

Great work! Which app dis you use?

  • Fantastic work!

  • COOL man, you should work for me one day !!

  • soooo awsome hey what is that cgi i would like to try this 3D animation too and 5 stars

  • this is coolest movie yet !

  • nice job james!! if you ever feel like putting any footage to a space song instrumental give me a shout

  • that was beast =]

  • how was flash used in this?

  • All text and titles were done in Flash, but primarily it was used to create the interface (de-coupling and engine fire-up) graphics/animations near the end.

  • amazing graphics

  • R u serious... C4D made that entire room... if so then i guess im keeping it.

  • I always wondered, how do they make sounds in airless space, and what good are turbofans there?

  • @rustemas Oh yeah what good are... oh wait who gives a shit!

  • too bad in space there is no sound!!

  • Nothing special imo.

  • what graphics soft were did you use 3ds max or another?

    and it is very cool

  • Thanks, and yes I did all (except the music).

  • Love it.

  • That was just beautiful mate. Good job, five of five. I can see you've put some effort into this.

  • so is this movie all cgi

  • Everything here is 3D. But it's not a movie - it's a demo animation I created to showcase some of my concept-design work.

  • West 4 L6

    Weyland-Yutani LV 426

    interesting...

  • Welcome to Acheron :)

  • the music reminds me of , like in films when the begining is a construction line and you go down the line and it shows machines being made.

    its also really terminator-y

........in case anyone really wanted to know. lol

    :D

  • 'The Terminator' is my favourite movie, so there will have definitely been an influence there.

  • That's great. The music sounds very familiar. Where's that from?

  • Danny Elfman: Planet of the Apes

  • So freak'en awesome!

  • Not only really good for a movie but also make an awesome cyberpunk game , i can hear that tune before from some where did you use the resources from videocopilot , like pro scores ?

  • Thanks jmm1233. It features the score from the movie 'Planet of the Apes' by Danny Elfman - that's where you've heard it before :) .

  • i thought i heard from somewhere , also your trailer is great for another reason , it doesn't show off the entire film at once (unlike hollywood trailers) it a nice ease in intro to the film and a good way to set the mood

  • Beautiful job and wonderful film! Don't you wish that people would actually READ the credits in the film to know that was from Planet of the Apes?

    Again, AWESOME job! Definite fav!

  • Where did you learn this?

    Classes, Tutorials?

  • I'm self taught. Generally from experimenting within the program, and reading online tutorials.

  • Love it! Good textures und cool light set up!

  • great when does it come out

  • Who 1-star'd this?

  • Nice camera views! :0)

  • awesome video, although it laggs like hell on my PC, :-(

  • Nice, makes you feel like your there.

  • omg. this is wonderful. awesome job done!

sneak preview? when is the whole thing coming out? (:

  • What is THE VOID? is it a movie coming out soon? or what?

ive searched everywhere online for it because ever since i found out what a void was on DOCTOR WHO? i have been obsessed. know any movies or documentaries about voids?

  • No, this isn't a movie. It's an animation I made, based around a selection of my concept designs, intended to resemble the opening sequence to a sci-fi movie.

  • What program did you use for this?

    Maya...3D MAX... What?

And what version specifically of what program did you use?

  • Maxon Cinema 4D R9

  • Awesome man! Just plain awesome!

  • Ha ha. Thanks for the comments FriedChickenAndCrime. I agree with you regarding the "less is more" philosophy. My only defence (and this was a deliberate decision when editing) was to present this animation as if it was the opening credits sequence to a much longer feature film. Hence the slow start :)

  • My apologies.

If I had it my way the employees of YouTube would be publicly flogged.

  • Thanks to YouTube, Googled and the Central Intelligence Agency I've mannaged to leave 2 to many messages.

  • However, over all, it is very well done.

    Bravo!

  • This is obviously beautifully rendered. Well thought out and highly conceptualized. Volumetric shading and depth layering is professional level. The entire presentation is beautiful.

However the build up, to the launch is a touch tiresome. As professionall as the editing is I think the "less in more" philosophy would bennefit the overall presentation of the interpolation of the scene sequencing in the first 10 seconds.

    Just my thought.

I'm old school SoftImage 3.9 extreme back in the day.

  • Very nice!

  • Thanks Smartkid

  • i am a professional Cinema 4D artist myself and I have to admit....this i really great work. titles and music are awesome as well!! Great work!

(let me know if you ever need help on projects)

  • Very kind of you. I'll definitely keep you in mind

  • Fantastic stuff! Keep it coming, want to see more :D

  • Thanks for the encouragement :)

  • Fantastic intro, good work.

  • Much appreciated
