so you'll all let liberal get in so they can cut the fibre optic internet infrastructure they're installing.. so they can ACTUALLY waste billions of dollars by cutting it, right now, after it's already so far into development.
Why is anyone going to vote greens? Seriously, have you actually looked at their policies instead of saying "Ohh yeah it will help the environment"? Okay, if you were a fucking Kangaroo, then you might want to vote greens, but you're not. Look at their damn policies, if they had power they would RUIN the country. Don't give them any more seats. I would rather have the Aussie Sex Party hold a few seats. At least these guys have actual viable ideas that would affect us, euthanasia, censorship, ect
Liberal is whats wrong with this country, everything they say is just hyped up, over the top garbage with a spin on it to make labor look bad. Half the Libs propaganda adds are just purely fucked up lies. Lib voters are full of themselves and pretty much relate to people of the Lowest Common Denominator.
This, we were assured before Prime Minister Julia Gillard climbed to the stage to deliver her speech to officially launch the government's plea for re-election, was the real Julia, unplugged.
There would be no auto cue. No written speech, either.
She would rely on nothing but a few dot points, her press secretaries solemnly assured the media gathered in the wings at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre. Within seconds, hardened hacks were tweeting this development.
Gillard's minders wanted to convey the message that she was braver, more spontaneous and capable of speaking directly to the electors without the limiting filter of a speech carefully prepared for her.
As Gillard took the stage, a thick sheaf of typed papers was discreetly placed upon the podium by a stagehand crouching almost out of sight. A video camera and The Sydney Morning Herald's chief photographer, Andrew Meares, captured the moment when the staffer slipped the papers into place.
When Gillard had finished speaking and the audience was agog at her ability to deliver an unscripted address (indeed, Gillard herself described it as "from the heart"), Meares turned his camera on the papers lying strewn upon the lectern. But so much for Julia unplugged. A case, you might think, of too much spin. No one would have cared a fig if she had read the whole thing ... if only we hadn't been hoodwinked into believing this was a free-form plea from her soul.
So where is the reference to a notes supplement? All i seen was a bimbo newsreader,Julia walking on stage and hugging Hawke then Hawke briefly commenting on how well the speech delivery went.No note reference to be seen.
@roguemale57 No, I don't think it's a sackable offence at all. But the fact that so many, including Hawke and a bunch of other Labor MPs claimed she "went off the cuff" when really a bulk of her speech was indeed written and read out is pathetic.
@RemsterOnline Can I ask mate you voting Labor or Liberal? Rest assured I'm not trolling, genuinely asking if you are a pissed off Labor voter or a reassured Liberal voter ( I was going to say 'smug' but I thought that might be a little too provoking )
@tryandlisten Not a big fan of either to be honest. Hate the ALP's Internet censorship proposal, also hate the Coalition's willingness to accept donations from big tobacco - and so on.
@tryandlisten Tough question. Labor have been particularly disappointing over the last few weeks, so strangely enough I think it would have to be between the Libs and the Greens at this election. Sounds odd, I know.
This video is exactly what is wrong with Australian politics.
The story is never about the policy its all about the scandal... its about the tiny minuscule side story bullshit that makes a mockery of our political system.
Most pedantic observation of the governing body as of yet.
Im sorry if that was harsh but if you can't stand back and realise it on an after thought then theres something wrong.
@Jehanam I agree. A lot of other countries do it too. They make shitty cartoon videos or parodies to take the piss out of one another concerning a politicians appearance or personality. What they should be concentrating on is challenging the policies that each party has.
@Jehanam i think you are reading too much into this clip - to me, it just seems this is basically just a 'quirky observation' the person posting is making - If you read RemsterOnline's comments, he/she is not using this as a 'Pro-Abbott' statement. I think at the end of the day we all want whats best for Australia, as per my other comment all of us are scared of losing a fairly robust economy - We should've just kept John Howard where he was, he might've been a bit of a tool but it worked
@RemsterOnline wow you may be surprised how many first time voters will vote for labor and by the fact that having Abbott at the helm of the liberal party, that they will lose by a landslide..
@rev12a Greens votes do NOT go to labour. You can vote for Greens and put labour last if you want. A vote for the Greens is a vote for only the Greens. In the same way a vote for labour is a vote for only labour. I know plenty of people that are putting Greens first and labour last.
@tryandlisten Supertax is only fair. It's AUSTRALIAN resources, it doesn't belong to the mining companies. Besides mining is the only industry not paying their fair share, suck it up and deal with it!
@PIECE2YOURMOTHA mining is what has kept Australia out of recession - The supertax will drive mining companies to explore and mine overseas where it is much cheaper and easier to send to China, India and the like - And then it will "suck" for all of us, especially thousands who would lose jobs, including and especially tradies. So you want to tell all those riggers and miners to "suck it up" and deal with unemployment, be my guest, I don't think you'd like the response
I find it rather amusing that here in WA the super tax is an "issue" I guess australians especially west aussies liked to get fucked over constanly. I wonder how interested the mining companies are in the money Police teachers nurses or careres get paid. But all these idiots seem to worry about the billionares. Makes sense doesnt it?
@apacheslim I agree that teachers, nurses and carers get paid terribly, I'm an ex-chalkie myself - But these are all government funded roles - Would the government guarantee an increase based on mining taxes?
Maybe or maybe not. I just find it amuing that people here in perth whom live simple lives are so worried about a mining tax that wouldnt hinder growth of companies whos executives fly in private planes and drink the finest wine. Why are these normal people going out of thier way for them? Did the mines do so for you as a teacher? NO they didnt so you dont own them anything. There are minerals in the gorund that determine the fate of australia.
@apacheslim i understand where you're coming from - the thing is that this discussion could go on forever - My overall opinion is that we need mining in Australia to help keep us out of recession as its helped in the past - I'm old enough to remember how horrible it was in 1990, I don't want to go through that again. Again, you're right, but will driving mining out of Australia help?
It wont drive minig out of australia it is still too lucrative too abandon like that. The tax will tax the companies after all their expenditures. Thats after everyne gets paid and the res tof it they will have a profit. Which will number in the billions. Then the tax will take money out of that profit. It is done so to keep a balance in the mines as everyone is affected equally. Personally i think they should nationalise it. There is too much money there for a few business's
@Kage6100 which is why I'll still vote for Labor this term. Sorry to all the Liberal fans but If it weren't Abbott as the opposition then Liberal would have had my support.
@RemsterOnline Internet Cencorship proposal is almost dead, extremely unlikely they will put it up again, its on hold indefinately, and if they tried to pass it, it wouldnt go through. Labor are trying to quietly bury it i think.
I prefer labor on prinicple but they both disgust me. Rudd was better personally that gillard . She is so condecending with and undercurretn of arrrogance. Internet cencorship is a joke. Liberals are tight with money because they have enough therefore we can make the sacrafices for them as usual. They would have made us suffer in the GFC. Both parties are really bad . TOO BAD THeY DONT INVITE ANY 1 ELSE TO THE DEBATES.
