  • what distance do the bullets start to drop

  • @ilovehunting1996 not sure, some perople shoot rabbits out to 120m, I'm sure I might well have taken some out that far but range estimation at night with a lamp is tricky! the main thing is wind, it does buck the wind well, but at longer ranges, that light bullet does get blown a bit especially if it's a bit breezy, though I haven't had much trouble.

  • @ilovehunting1996 The projectile starts falling the moment it exits the barrel. The projectile is not immune from the laws of gravity.

  • whats the best bullets to use i just bought anschutz 17 hmr with 14 inch barrell cci dont get a good group at 70 yards whats the best bullets to use

  • @tomdavis1986 can't tell you I'm afraid! mine shoots best with 17 grain ballistic tip Federal Premium. your gun may be different, it might be a bit expensive, but go out and buy several boxes of ammom, I'd go for Renmington, Hornady, federal and another if you can find it. choose a windless day to shoot, and shoot 3 or 5 rd groups to compare, letting the barrel cool before each string of shots.

  • Respond to this video... guns of the same make, model and calibre may like different brands and even bullets weights of amo, though I'd steer clear of the soft tip ammo in .17 HMR and stick with the poly tips.

  • Can you buy .17HMR rifles in Belgium?

  • @bayenne5b I don't see why not...

  • Hello, great video you have here. This is the best series of videos for the Anschutz that I have found here on YouTube. 2 questions for you. Is that the 64 action or the 54 action? What does the instruction manual say as far as cleaning the barrel. Bore cleaners, bronze/brass brushes, any special instructions? Thank you!

  • Of course American gun can not compare to European gun!

  • @CharlieDoan dunno, Kimber rifles do look very nice, not to mention Cooper Firearms and Dakota Arms, Across the pond they seem to be suspicious of everything foreign, or at least a few seem that way, plus as you say US made parts will be easier to obtain and cheaper I suspect!

  • @danebrewer10 Dude, do they have that same rifle in .22 WMR?

  • @shasha1873 sure, all they need to do is hang a different barrel on there and you have a .22 WMR, so yeah, I don't know if they make exactly the same model, but there definitely are a few heavy barrel .22 WMR sporters in the Anschutz catalogue.

  • @danebrewer10 Outstanding. Thanks a million for the information.

  • @CharlieDoan not always true. Savage 93R17F is a very nice rifle ive got one and it is very nice

  • @CharlieDoan But without American guns and bombs + Missiles . Europe already speak German since 1945, You European must knee down and say Thanks to American no matter you like or not. The true are the true

  • live in the USA..buy USA rifle reasons:

-If the rifle break parts then u buy PARTS is the main things..easy and faster!

  • When I bought my S&B Hungarian 8x56 I was told they were cheaper than the German ones because the cost of labour in Hungary was a lot less.

  • @SilentAssassin8 absolutely, the glass, tube turrets are all the same it's just the labour, I did look at "upgrading" to the 8x56, it's just massive compared next to the 6x42, I could use some extra mag, but not for the extra size, it dwarfs the annnie completely

  • @danebrewer10 Should have mentioned that my 8x56 is on my .243 Remington 700

  • What kind of rings do you have on this rifle? They're nice.

  • @expeditionexchange I'm pretty sure they're sportsmatch, really nice mounts for I think about £20, thwy do a whole range of reachforward, two and one piece as well as mounts for weaver rails...

  • @danebrewer10 Thank you. I looked up the Sportsmatch site and found a USA distributor for my Anschutz.

  • is there any major difference between a .22 HMR and a .17 HMR ?

  • @pogoman12345678910 there is a .17 HMR and the .22WMR or winchester magnum rimfire the HMR shoots a 17 grain bullet to about 2500 ft/s and the WMR shoots a 40grain bullet to about 1910 ft/s obviously that will be less in a rifle with a shorter barrel such as this one the WMR though slower and has a trajectory lesss flat than te HMR bucks the wind better and carries more energy to the target so would be a better choice if you'll be encountering charlie a lot, though the HMR is also good for foxes

  • @danebrewer10 thanks

  • @danebrewer10 what caliber would the .17hmr be?

  • @tractorman96 the calibre is .17 HMR, the bullet diameter is .172" or 4.4mm velocity from this 18" barrel would drop somewhat from the factory velocity (I think they use 24" test barrels) so something in the region of 2400/2500 ft/s

  • You guys get suppressors "readily?" THAT IS NOT FAIR! *Jealous*

  • @Ishpeck yeah pretty much, so long as you have a use for it, it's not hard to get one added to your ticket when you buy a rifle...

  • how does the sound moderator affect accuracy? I have a CZ 452 that the front sight can be spun off and a moderator can be fitted. I am considering buying one when I move to a more "gun friendly" state

  • @lopeznige it really dosen't affect it at all, if anything it should improve it by dampening some of the vibration in the barrel, but for a rimfire like this with a fairly short thick barrel it makes near as no difference, with a CF rifle though, usually the addition of a mod makes the gun much more accurate (so long as the extra weight of the mod doesn't make the forend flex and touch the barrel)- much like brownings BOSS system, or that moveable muzzle weight supplied on target ruger mini-14's

  • serious scopes them Schmidt and Bender's

  • Excellent honest review right on the mark.

  • I want nutnfancy to do a review on savage 17 hmr. He does not have any 17 hmr videos........I gonna ask him

  • Good little vid ive got the same rifle except the 1717DHB with wild cat can & a nightforce scope. Best shot ever on a wabbit 335yds check out a chap called varmint al on his web sight for more info on 17hmr hes out to 500yds on ground squirrels. keep at it cheers COOP

  • Well i appreciate the review, I am trying to decide between the savage and the weatherby mark xxii, which has an anchutz action and barrel. Im trying to find the most accurate 17 hmr i can get without spending money on a custom that may or may not shoot as well as a factory gun..

  • no problemo, other than those you've mentioned, the savage is accurate, but it does look and feel cheap. but you might want to look at rifles from kimber and cooper arms, they look good, a bit more expensive than the Anschutz still, but for pride of ownership, I love the annie, I had it test fired recently and was producing one hole groups out to 100m, as small as the bottom of a .243 Win case! now that to me was impressive!

  • wow i just wasted 5 min of my life with this....

  • well you seem to be in the minority- I think the title was pretty descriptive, seems you do well at pissing other users off, surely you were wasting time browsing around for random videos anyway so your point is moot

  • really ?? WTF did you review ? All I saw was the action and the glass and very little insight or so called "review" of this rifle. I was myself looking at purchasing a similar .17 to add to my other Anschutz rimfires and you 5:06 of wisdom was lacking.

  • look dipshit, this is part 2, there is a part 1 where I review the rifle, I had to cut it into two parts because I can't post the whole thing in one vid.

  • The guy with the horror story maybe should of used a light layer of copperslip to prevent the moderator from 'welding' onto the barrel.

  • I just store mine with the mod off, plus the mod is so easy to clean, I clean it each time as well

  • @danebrewer10 Why is the bolt knob so big? Can you order anschutz rifles with smaller ones?

  • @cchj768 uh, no I don't think so,TBH, you don't really want anything much smaller it really benefits from being as big as it is, I have shot the CZ rifles with a small bolt handle and the Annie offers much more to wrap your fingers around and get hold of, makes it much easier to hold, plus the fact it's plastic means it's not so cold in the winter!

  • @danebrewer10 It's plastic?! Argh!! I'd much prefer the handle to be metal, but thanks for the reply.

  • mine didnt come with a supressor :'(

  • no neither din mine, i had to buy it separately, this one was only £30 and to be honest, value for money, IMHO it's the best you can buy for the hummer

  • well im in california anyways(the most populated tree hugger state) so its illiegal anyways :P

  • ive got one superb rifles. only down fall is they dont have a 10 shot mag

  • what model?

  • see my comment on part 1 of the review

  • Whats better a 17HMR or a 22Mag?

  • The 17HMR is superior past 80 yards.

  • It depends what you want it for, If it's a short range fox busting toiol then I'd go for the .22 WMR as it shoots a weightier bullet, if it's for bunny bashing then I'd go for the .17 HMR.

  • Very nice gun!

could you tell me how much does this one cost?

    Greets from Germany!

  • ummmm I think it was around £714 for the rifle I think and £440 for the scope....

  • that a nice rifle,i like the way the stock looks

  • if you put a variable power scope on it you will be able to shoot farther. i've got i simmons 6-24x42 on my cz and i can take rabbits at 200 yards with this

  • I have the S&B on top purely because I wanted the best glass I could get at a reasonable price the light transmission and clarity are outstanding, plus 6x mag seems to do the job fine for me! the crosshair covers about 1/3 of the rabbits head at 100m but I can still shoot accurately for meat at that distance so i'm not too worried.... otherwise I would go for a 3-9 or 2.5-10 variable....

  • That's an absolutely beautiful rifle. The SB glass is a very nice piece as well. By the way, I was told by CCI, that all of the 17 HMR ammo is identically manufactured.

Also, I'm fairly confident that Anschutz will hold less that 1 MOA. Put it in a gun vice, use weights and sandbags, throw on a 32X scope, and I'm that gun should be atleast 3/4 MOA.

I agree about Savage's build quality. I've got a BTVS in 17hmr--it's pretty good, shot .57" @100 yards once, but it's no Annie.

    Cheers!

  • You're welcome ; )
