The rumors are the Texans had their eye on him at 11, the Patriots thought he was a steal in the teens. We tried to trade back and get him but he wouldnt have made it past the Texans, we drafted him so they took J.J Watt instead.
He is the only OLB we will have under contract besides P.Harelson, and has versatility to move around and give us flexability. Will he become what he was drafted to do? No one knows if ANY of these drafted players will live up to their status, but Aldon has the physical and mental make up to make the transition to the pros as well as any defensive player who wasnt named P.Peterson. He also has J.Smith and P.Willis who BOTH command double team. Its not hard to see why we drafted him.

Amukamara and Jones could be available. I think there is a much larger chance Jones will be available than Amukamara. With Jones it will depend whether or not Cincy will call Carson Palmer's bluff or not. If they think he will retire then they might go Blaine Gabbert and that would allow 1 of the top 2 WR's to fall. I think if we give up a 2nd and a 3rd, we could probably trade up with Cincy and get Peterson and they could still get one of the top 2 WR's.
Part 2. ha If Newton goes to Carolina then the 2 other teams in the top 10 that would need a WR would be the Browns and the Titans. The Browns are switching to a 4-3 and need new guys in there. Plus they have 2 2nd round picks at WR so they probably wont go WR in the first. Tennessee needs help for Kenny Britt but Fairley will still probably be around and that would be a match made in heaven. Then Washington takes one WR and Cincy still gets the other. Both teams are happy
I don't think Carolina will draft Newton because I think they're smarter than that, so I think Dareus will be the first off the board and the next two off will be Peterson and Miller to Denver and Buffalo. After that I could see Cincinnati getting either Gabbert or Green. I don't see the Browns drafting anything but a receiver so maybe Jones could fall that low but Amukamara would have to go to San Fransisco or Dallas is he's available.
I dont think Dareus will be the #1 pick. I think if Carolina doesnt go Newton then they will go AJ Green instead. Jimmy Clausen was painfully bad and I dont think they believe he is the answer anymore. I am guessing they are going to gamble with the talent of Newton. I dont see the Browns drafting a WR. I can see the Texans picking him up. Him or Robert Quinn. They're both athletic but Aldon has an advantage at playing line-backer.

@thebest545 I could see JJ Watt but Amukamara, Jones, and Peterson will probably be gone by the 11th pick, but who knows?? I just think Smith is more coachable than Watt. I think Watt's at his peak.

Amukamara and Jones could be available. I think there is a much larger chance Jones will be available than Amukamara. With Jones it will depend whether or not Cincy will call Carson Palmer's bluff or not. If they think he will retire then they might go Blaine Gabbert and that would allow 1 of the top 2 WR's to fall. I think if we give up a 2nd and a 3rd, we could probably trade up with Cincy and get Peterson and they could still get one of the top 2 WR's.

Part 2. ha If Newton goes to Carolina then the 2 other teams in the top 10 that would need a WR would be the Browns and the Titans. The Browns are switching to a 4-3 and need new guys in there. Plus they have 2 2nd round picks at WR so they probably wont go WR in the first. Tennessee needs help for Kenny Britt but Fairley will still probably be around and that would be a match made in heaven. Then Washington takes one WR and Cincy still gets the other. Both teams are happy

I don't think Carolina will draft Newton because I think they're smarter than that, so I think Dareus will be the first off the board and the next two off will be Peterson and Miller to Denver and Buffalo. After that I could see Cincinnati getting either Gabbert or Green. I don't see the Browns drafting anything but a receiver so maybe Jones could fall that low but Amukamara would have to go to San Fransisco or Dallas is he's available.

I dont think Dareus will be the #1 pick. I think if Carolina doesnt go Newton then they will go AJ Green instead. Jimmy Clausen was painfully bad and I dont think they believe he is the answer anymore. I am guessing they are going to gamble with the talent of Newton. I dont see the Browns drafting a WR. They recently drafted Mohamed Massoquoi and Brian Robiskie who were both 2nd round picks and they also have Josh Cribbs. I think they will go Robert Quinn.

@aaroncm17 They don't even play Cover 2 most of the time. Morris really mixes up the defense. But yeah, they certainly do need a Rice-like pass rusher.
