was this video recorded during an earthquake? I concur with the dead batt concept. Most would just carve the phone in their car. OOPS I can't open my car. . . .
This is kind of stupid because what if someone stole the phone. Wouldn't that person have basicly all credit card and other info that the person could use l. Lol
Now, to play Devil's Advocate. Is it possible to lock out or open the worlds homes/cars/bank accounts by hackers based on this technology? Of course. It is the most freighting of the possible scenarios. ("On Star" comes to mind immediately.) But the "Genie" is already out of the bottle. If you have any money in a bank, It doesn't matter if you adamantly avoid using "On line Banking" over the Internet to purchase, pay bills or whatever. Your money is already on the net, like it or not.
But think if you ONLY carried one NFC device (or equal technology) that you guarded equally to your wallet and keys. This device could be password and/or biometric protected, a device that if lost can be easily setup for "Remote Wipe" if you lost it. Instead of hours or days canceling credit cards and changing locks to your property causing extensive impact to your life, it would take mere minutes to lock down you life, no matter where you are on the planet.
Now they have access to your car, which with a quick check of the glove-box would reveal your home address from either the insurance cards or vehicle registration. They now have the keys to your house (trust me, they're on the same key chain) and it's address.
But as far as "stealing" all of your property BECAUSE of this technology is just a question of prudence. A cell phone can be locked with a password or gesture, and in the case of newer phone, biometrics. A dropped wallet cannot. Thieves have the cash in the wallet/purse. Your home address and numerous other private information. A dropped set of keys? If found quickly enough and simple wander thru a parking garage pressing the Unlock button on the remote and listening for the Chirp/Honk.
It's certainly true if your phone battery dies, you'd be in some trouble with NFC technology. But I don't believe you'd give up carrying your keys wallet/purse just yet based on this concept. It's the convenience of NOT having to use them (keys to your car/house/hotel room), but they are still available to you in the event of a dead battery.
like icloud in itunes. you can just track where your phone is and then remote clear from any computer or phone if you want. or completely lock it from inside icloud app
