After watching this clip several times I have come to the conclusion that it is a fake. Number 1, why is the kid holding an Obama sign and making sure he displays it real well? Number 2, Anyone who has ever touched an electric fence should know that this is not the way a person reacts. It jolts you,your heels go straight down and hands fly up bigtime! Looks fake to me.

It's the type of fence used for pets, not an actual electric fence used for cattle or horses. However, if you barely touch a fence like that, it will only jolt your arm , not your whole body.

thundley4: I grew up on the fringes of farm country, and as a 9-year-old, I was frequently shocked by full-strength electric livestock fences. However, this was a very stupid stunt, and if the kid had a medical condition, it may have been tragic.

As a democrat I find it fantastically funny. We get our signs stolen every election year repeatedly and in this case the kid went on to the mans property. I wouldn't do it myself If something bad happened the homeowner is taking the chance that a court of law may not agree with his form of property defense. However from an entertainment point of view classic gold!! Teach the child some values. You do not mess with another mans property.. It is that simple. Be glad he is learning it now.

Tampering with political signs is removing a persons right to free speech, what gives ANYONE that right?
When I was 9 I knew right/wrong, and I knew taking ANYTHING from another yard w/out permission was stealing.
The shock wont hurt him, and while it's illegal to create "booby traps" the signs were clearly marked, they were on private property in the open... the owner could say it was to keep dogs from peeing on his fence.

If you think about it,I bet the kid was stealing the sign because his family supported McCain,and wanted a sign of their own. If he was pro Obama,why go back to steal the metal sign holder? The only crime here is that the home owner did not hook-up the sign to the 220V washing machine outlet. Man this is such a great idea! I have had my Obama signs stolen. I actually saw 2 guys (adults) pick it up and throw it across the street. I was looking straight out of my window. They did not see that I had my blinds turned up. This was at 6 in the evening too!!! So I called the cops and complained. They smacked them on the wrist and sent them on their way. The next time, they'll think (read) before touching my sign. LOL. I have something for them!! LOL!!

After loosing 4 signs I Wish I had an electrical fence so I could copy cat but as it is I will just have to stick with stapling the sign to the frame and adding vaseline all around the poles and the sign. So far it has worked like a charm. evidently you are only allowed your first amendment rights if you are a liberal.

When I was nine, if I did this and got "zapped" I would certainly not run home and TELL MY DAD I DID IT!!
He would kick my ass all the way back to the neighbor's house to apologize and then I would be grounded for a month for Disrespecting someone else's property. Actions have consequences. This will turn out to be a great lesson for the kid.
I'm just glad it's on tape to show the small (yet no doubt, surprising) jolt, or it would have been "Man Electrocutes Child Over Political Signs"
