In Europe we don't have the Taurus. We have the Mondeo instead and this is a wonderful car too! I already drove a Lexus and I can say it's not a quality car.

However why compare a Taurus and a Lexus LS ? I prefer the Taurus, not because it has a better paint finish...

This is my last post! All these features you've mentioned, have just been taken from the Japanese and Europeon luxury vehicles and given a different name. For instance, the ActiveParkAssitance feature originated from Lexus and was taken by other manufacturers and of course, modified! To be easier to operate. Therefore giving the facade to consumers that, that particular feature was created by Ford. In the end it all boils down to personal preference.

And plus, I can say that the Japanese and European copied Ford when they started Mass producing automobiles and using the Production line method. @dvspot Uglyass?? the Lexus is just a bland design that's nothing special, i won't call it ugly, but its not a head turner either. The Taurus on the other hand haas a nicer in your face design taht is much better looking than the Lexus. The Lexus is a nicer car with nicer materials tough, but that's why there's the Lincoln MKS. The Lincoln Brand has a higher quality and reliability rating than Lexus as tested by J.D. Power.

@dvspot I already said that the LS is a superior vehicle, and having owned many Toyota and Lexus cars, and Many Ford and Lincoln Cars.You're not comparing apples to apples when comparing a Taurus to a LS460, but i'd take a MKS or any Lincoln over a Lexus anyday. The old Ford/Lincolns didn't have great reliability, but the new ones are (as rated by J.D) the most reliable vehicles on the market.

Furthermore, J.D ratings are bias and that it places almost all American cars in the highest esteem when the truth of the matter is, is that most of the features in the new Lincolns and Fords are old news. The Japanese and the Germans had those features in their luxury cars many years ago! These new " MKS or any Lincoln" are just playing catch up my friend.

And alot of the features that Lincoln has had haven't been seen on other vehicles. True some of them are, but alot are excvlusives. Power running boards, active shutter, MyFord Touch, Microsoft Sync. And their ActiveParkAssist Feature has been rated easier to use and more effecient than the one on the Lexuses.

If you see the video where the Taurus takes on the Audi, you can see that the Taurus, using a V6 engine has the output of a V8. If you can get the power of 2 extra cylinders with the same fuel economy, that seems good to me.

i dont think they necessariy meant the visibility of the damage, i think that they were trying to show the overall damage the chips could have on the metal the car, but i guess if you can afford the lexus then you wont have to worry about what the car looks like in 5-10 years because you'll probably have a newer one by then..

so what ford is saying is... given the same lvl of torture, the dmg will look the same to the naked eye, BUT if you happen to own a special fluorescent paste and a UV lamp, then u'd appreciate the paint more when you ultimately still hav to apply touch-up paint b/c the dmg looks exactly the same.
