I know it doesnt keep true to the REAL meaning to the song, but I met a girl over the summer and had one of those experiences that just seem to linger with you, like its unbelievably special and you just cant get it off of your mind. Anyways in tribute to this song I always called her lochloosa, because the whole meaning behind this song is almost identical to how I felt about her. Thumbs up for JJMofro songs having a deeper, more personal meaning than he originally ever imagined. Much love.
I am from lochloosa and every word he sangs about is true. It is where I growed up and where I will always stay. We have no city . we are just a very small town . where we know everybody .
JJ played during a wicked t-storm in Memphis a few weeks ago during Beale St. Music Fest. He was the only dude to play when Amos Lee wouldn't even unwrap his equipment. Much respect for the first show I've seen!
@rose752010 Thanks, I'll make it. I know some places where I get a similar feeling in SW Virginia. Of course, it's not the swamp, but I know the feeling...
Just curious how a city can just disappear or leave?? Lochloosa is in the very northern part of central Florida, just outside of micanopy. That whole area is what Florida is really about and a real Florida boy doesn't need a google map or wiki to find it.
@1barzx3 Lochloosa is not even near a city. You have to be raised here to know where to go so don't drive to Lochloosa expecting to see what he's singing about. It's here but unless you know the locals you'll never find the place where his memories live.
The "Stairway to Heaven" of the swamp. JJ is the man and probably the most underrated Florida songwriters ever. Check that add performers too. We saw him at least 5 times and Father JJ never disappoints.
my dad and i have always had a very strong relationship. he and i love mofro and sing this song together and he also plays the harmonica. i <3 JJ Grey!!
This is the best representation of the emotional transmission you will receive at a J.J. Grey and Mofro concert. J.J.'s face says it all as if the lyrics were not sentimental enough. I have yet to go to Lochloosa, but I plan to one day because of this song. This is a man and a band that plainly loves the experience of life on earth, and the natural pleasures that life brings.
My name is locholos
