Brilliant! You sir, made my day! I have been waiting for a scify-tribute like this :D There was another great tribute on Youtube previously, but it was removed two years ago or so. It had the Sunshine soundtrack and was sort of a journey from earth out into space with clips from old an new scify movies and series. Does anyone remember that one and perhaps another site where it might be found?
Brilliant editing - the choice of visuals, music and soundbytes, and their seamless integration, works very well. I thought at first that is was a promo for a TV channel or suchlike, put together by a team of professionals. It conveys the "feel" of sci-fi movies, and while it does not attempt to be a best-of list, nonetheless includes references to many good films - and picks good bits from lesser films.
This is amazing. I'm a science fiction lover myself and this gave me all kinds of chills. I really enjoyed this and I want to share this with everyone.
This is fantastic! You have defined sci-fi in this video. While, yes you have left out some other great sci-fi movies and even series that have come over the years: The Day the Earth Stood Still, War of the Worlds [the original!], Doctor Who, Babylon 5, Dune, and Farscape are just some to name; but it is hard to sum up ever thing that is sci-fi. Again, a fantastic video...just simply wonderful! <3 BIG THUMBS UP!
I'm crying because this was so beautiful! Sci fi is my ABSOLUTE favorite genre, and I really think it's the best because it can tell these stories that all come back to the most raw human themes. Your editing and the clip usages and sound bytes was fantastic, hence the tears!
Why does this not have more comments? This is absolutely amazing, everything I love about sci-fi wrapped up in a fantastic video. I'm glad you put up a list of all the movies... I could recognize almost all of the clips, but there were a few I was unsure about.
Absolutely amazing!!! There are impossible possible things beyond this world that I want to experience. You are quite possibly my favorite person right now :D :D :D
This is absolutely fantastic. You've managed to capture and portray everything I love about science fiction brilliantly. I love how it just builds up! And everything just flows, it never drags. I have to keep coming back to this, and I find more things to love about it each time. Oh, and the quote you used is perfect. My only compliant would be that it's hard to understand some of the dialogue, but that's a very minor detail. Also, if you don't mind, could you make a list of the music you used?
@wilrk Thank you! Good point though, I had trouble finding the right balance for the volume of the dialogue. This is only my third vid, so it's really helpful getting feedback like this. And re: the music--The Ascension by James Horner, Animus Vox by The Glitch Mob, and Waltz with Vampires by Fired Earth Music.
@undercoveregg I'm glad I could be of some help. As I said, it's a minor detail because the superb combination of clips and music really makes up for it. But thank you for the list! I loved the second song so much, I needed to get my hands on it :)
I love this so much. It's such an awesome trip, watching all the stuff that I grew up on and geeked over on screen. It flows so well, everything just melds and builds upon everything else. And the way it evolves, the tone changing, the music shifting drastically, but it's so organic and perfect.
Where's the speech at the beginning from?

What a shame to mix up great classics like Blade Runner and Gattaca with hollow techno-fantasy like Tron, Transformers and Avatar.
