Why didn't I learn from this song way back when I wonder? I'm some kinda dirty little lump of coal that has a hell of a long way to go becoming a diamond. When I hung out with Billy Joe back in Austin it seemed attainable but somehow I've lost my way. He's one great man Gary, even apart from his songwriting and he gave me some quality time. His son was still alive and playing lead guitar for him then but he was a prodigal just like me. At any rate, I needed this song today.
