I have an E46 330i and the only performance item I have is the Signature Motoring performance CAI for about $160. The performance kit adds around 13.5HP on the dyno, sounds freaking great, and installs in under 30 minutes. Highly recommended.

Aside from the power gain, the SOUND is amazing at higher RPM but sounds normal in regular driving. I’m thinking about added high-flow exhaust next.

Mate, first of all, your car looks absolutely amazing and very well cared-for.
However, I just cannot understand why people put aftermarket exhausts on the E46 M3. They all sound terrible compared with the stock setup. If anything, the best way to do an aftermarket system would be to get a stainless-steel welder to fabricate a stainless version of the original system.
I think people justify the noise of an aftermarket system on these cars because of the cost. But they just sound BAD.
