It's a trade-off - and just like other race mods, some people go to extremes just for "the look".

Your speedo might read 120, but on large rims you wouldn't get an accurate reading at all, because the factory speedo is calibrated to the factory wheel/tire specs. So the car would be RUNNING at highway speeds, but would really be GOING much slower. But the dorks riding on 30's don't know that, lol.

You take two axles, both spinning at 100rpm, one axle drives a 15" wheel, the other drives a 30" wheel. Same axles, same speed at the axis, but the 30" wheel will be spinning at exactly half the rolling revolutions on the outside as the 15" wheel. They're just sapping the forward motion of their car with those goofy wheels, not to mention the fuel efficiency.

long live the chevy!! i agree that 26 inch rims on any car is way to big, to the point you have to lift it, but the way they did it, looks pretty badass. i will say that it is not my style. but it is their money, but they have got to be ballin, because small ass tires like those, you go through them quick, especially at high sppeds with lift kits! lol

Your speedo might read 120, but on large rims you wouldn't get an accurate reading at all, because the factory speedo is calibrated to the factory wheel/tire specs. So the car would be RUNNING at highway speeds, but would really be GOING much slower. But the dorks riding on 30's don't know that, lol.

I even got a speeding ticket because of this myself, I even went to court. Here is the simple breakdown for you: Bigger rolling diameter = less rotations at a given speed = your car thinks its going slower than it really is.
Just THINK about it for a sceond, because you are looking a little foolish right now... And it appears to be catching.

@Kmarxist Yeah, but they're not doing 120, that's the point. Though the car is probably running like it is. You take two axles, both spinning at 100rpm, one axle drives a 15" wheel, the other drives a 30" wheel. Same axles, same speed at the axis, but the 30" wheel will be spinning at exactly half the rolling revolutions on the outside as the 15" wheel. They're just sapping the forward motion of their car with those goofy wheels, not to mention the fuel efficiency.
