Magic Carpet 2: The Netherworlds - 2nd secret level (hq svga)

Never found this secret level. It was nice that they did re-use some levels from the first Magic Carpet (reminds me of level 33) but thankfully it isn't a required level to advance.

This was one hell of an impressive game when it came out. I was still using my Amiga at that point (well until the year 2000) but a friend of mine had Magic Carpet 1 running on his PC back then and after i saw it i spent from about 6pm until about 6am in the morning playing it!

I still didn't buy a PC but the 80's and 90's was the best time for gaming and for some reason i only prefer Vector/Polygon Based 3D or Texture Mapped as was synonymous with those days.

Indeed. This was the time when 3D games were making big steps and the game developers had visions for future games (compared to the huge mass of non-innovative fps clones which are still being piled up on the market). Half Life (1998) was the last (genre faithful) fps game I enjoyed playing.

I got my first PC (P75) at about the time when Carpet 2 was released and put my Amiga back in the box. There it still waits for me faithfully :)

I totally agree, plus when you had a technological jump back then it was TRULY noticeable and innovative whereas now its just incremental with no excitement or buzz about it. I guess you could liken the jumps to going from a C64 to an Amiga.

I remember the P75 well though when they phased out the 486DX66, because i had just started working for a Computer company that sold systems to joe public and to corporations and it was a BIG deal back then :)

I got my first PC in late 2000 and it was a PIII 800 because i was so Amiga steadfast!, but i did enjoy some great 3D Amiga shooters such as AB3D, Genetic Species & Gloom but of course the PC was well ahead of the pack hence the reason why i had to face reality and give the Amiga up in the end.

But i did get my A1200 030/50 out again about 3 years back (sold my A500) and i still turn it on from time to time now for a quick retro blast :)

I am sorry to say that i missed playing Half Life when it came out :( (although i did see it running in 98 on a friends PC (the same guy who had Magic Carpet), but there were a few games i LOVED on the PC after 2000 and those were Deus Ex, Hitman, Dark Reign 2, The Longest Journey, Battlezone 2, and a few other ones but after going through a big buzz in PC games and upgrading the video card every year, something strange happened!

I gave it all up in 2004 !!? I lost the buzz :(

I forgot about the Hitman, the first one was a good solid fps with new ideas. I tried Deus Ex few years back, but didn't get very excited. Perhaps I was too impatient with it.

Battlezone 2 was also a great game and so was Mechwarrior 4.

Thanks for mentioning about these games. I haven't tried the Longest Journey, but I'll check it out. Haven't been able to find any decent adventure games released after Harvester.

Yes there are some good games released every few years, but those are few.

Yes the 1st Hitman was great but i didn't really go much for the 2nd one :( And Mechwarrior 4 !!!! forgot all about that one!!, i used to play it in the showroom of the place i worked at in the 90's!! but then again maybe that was part 3 !?

When it comes to Adventure games i have never played Harvester but going by your standards it must be great so i will give it a shot :)

I was an adventure game junkie though years ago from the C64 right through the Amiga years and into the PC and i must say that The Longest Journey goes pretty much to the top of the list as the BEST Adventure game i have ever played!! Others come extremely close, but TLJ blew my mind and i was quite sad when it ended.

I just remembered another good fps, Outcast (1999). I played it only after several years of it's release and it still felt very original. It wasn't purely an action game, but an adventure game as well. There's a lots of freedom to move around and several quests to be solved.
