If everyone had that seared in their brain, we would live in a much better world, including everyone driving and looking out for motorcycles, bycles, and pedestrians. I have been riding for about two years wear a reflective vest follow all the rules of the road and I still see people pull out like they don't see me. Don't judge me because I ride a Harley. I don't drink, or smoke, I'm a member of the Knights of Columbus, active in my church and contribute to The March of Dimes through Bikers for Babies. Not all bikers are the same, Don't assume the worst of us based on what you have seen on television.
We've come so close to being hit by someone in a car it sometimes makes me afraid to get on the bike. I've heard them say, " I never saw you". We saw them. Just as we saw the girl doing 80 on the freeway with a cell phone in one hand and a icecream cone in the other driving with her knees while she drifted in our lane so close she nearly brushed against my leg. God was on our side that day, it was the horn on the bike and our yells that got her attention. We came 3 inches from death that day
Great video. Remember riders (and I FIRMLY believe this) LOUD PIPES SAVE LIVES! I just about pulled out one dark night on a bike,,, until I heard him. I ride a 2007 VTX 1300 with loud Vance & Hines pipes. None riders may think because I'm a female that I just want to be noticed with the loud noise, when in actuality, I just want to be able to ride for many more years to come. Get the pipes, it may be your best investment.
@myschpeck I used to think load pipes were not that great at getting attention. Then I got my Intruder 1400 with Vance & Hines pipes. The baffles are cut down form 8 1/4" to 2 3/4". A roll or two on the throttle and they look my way....every time.
okay, its like being on a crowded freeway, in a car, surrounded by semis. They have a hard time seeing cars, cars are much smaller, faster and easily disapear in the blind spots. Its my responsibility to avoid the semis, not the other way around. Its my life on the line...
Sorry, but motorcycles are hard to see. especially when they are flying at 100 mph on the interstate (or even worse, on city streets). In the end we are all responsible for our own safety, with blind spots, and tiny speeding bikes, accidents do happen. This should be a lesson to all bikers. Follow traffic laws, drive defensively, and always assume that cars don't see you. Hell, when I'm a pedestrian or on a bicycle, I assume that no car sees me. Haven't been hit yet.
I nearly pulled out in front of a bike up in Austin 10 years ago .. Stopped in plenty of time , but the guy pulled up to my window and started to give me " the lecture" I told him to be quiet ! , that I'd been on bikes for over 40 years , that I HAD looked and did not see him ! He was taken aback , and said Damn , if YOU didn't see me , I must Be invisible ! I apologized , and he thanked me for the wake up call ..

On Sept. 3rd,2011 I was rear ended by a drunk driver the first words she said was "I didn't see you" not only was she drunk she was talking on her phone. I was a lucky man that night as I got to walk away though in a great deal of pain I survived, the Dr. says I will live with this pain the rest of my life because of a drunk on a phone. It's been 5 months now off work and hoping to return soon. Please take up the fight in your state's to get cellphone use banned in moving vehicles.

It's not so much they don't see you, they do not look. Everybody is way important and in a damn hurry. They do not look hard enough or long enough or set their sites for a thin profile as are bikes. Cell phones, texting, make-up, loud music, smoking, checking out the girls/guys - looking everywhere else except at traffic and grabbing the rig are top priority, Sound like any of you???
Loud bikes are unnecessary; people in cars & bikes need to drive/ride responsibly. Take driver safety class, and learn to do everything reasonable to avoid an accident. (thats what they actually teach). Because you ride a bike or drive a certain kind of car/truck you don't have any special entitlement over anyone else. There are a lot of bad attitudes and no one is above anyone else, there are wreckless drivers on both sides; what do you do if its survival between you or the other guy?
@uselessman73 Yes, they are (pipes). Most accidents involving the two are caused by the automobile. In most states you have to take a second test to get an M endorsement. I myself have taken a Stars riders safety course, and have ridden more than 20 years. NOTHING could have prevented the accident. An old couple pulled out of a bookstore, making a left turn 20 feet in front of me. People in automobiles just don't watch. Don't believe me? Ride one and find out. Survival? Try that on a bike.

Damn near every time it has been one of a few reasons & not because I was in their blind spot. Hard to say blind spot when I am directly next to your drivers window. I think there should be a better way because bikers suffer from the case of "one bad apple" spoiling the bunch also. Just because there is a "walk" signal, and you have the right of way, doesn't mean you don't look both ways before entering the crosswalk. I found this moving, and poignant. I ride a bike, and have for many years. On June 21st, I was hit by an old man pulling out of a bookstore. I was lucky. It was a 30 zone. Any faster, and I would've been killed. Now it's August 10th, I still have a lot of pain, 30k in medical bills and my Harley is toast. It took me years of maximum effort to save and buy my dream bike and now it's a wreck. It's one thing to know people who have had them, or died from accident. Please look twice. Thx, Dunwyche~

I didn't start riding until I was 56. I'm now 64 and love riding with my girlfriends and husband. I'm a wife, mother of 4 and grandmother of 14. I love the Lord and serve Him. How would you explain to my family that you didn't see me? There are a lot of us out there on the road on 2 or 3 wheels who enjoy the sport. We pay out taxes, follow the law, hubby is retired cop. Show some respect. We might be the person you need to save your life.

I have been riding for about two years wear a reflective vest follow all the rules of the road and I still see people pull out like they don't see me. Don't judge me because I ride a Harley. I don't drink, or smoke, I'm a member of the Knights of Columbus, active in my church and contribute to The March of Dimes through Bikers for Babies. Not all bikers are the same, Don't assume the worst of us based on what you have seen on television.

We've come so close to being hit by someone in a car it sometimes makes me afraid to get on the bike. I've heard them say, " I never saw you". We saw them. Just as we saw the girl doing 80 on the freeway with a cell phone in one hand and a icecream cone in the other driving with her knees while she drifted in our lane so close she nearly brushed against my leg. God was on our side that day, it was the horn on the bike and our yells that got her attention. We came 3 inches from death that day

Great video. Remember riders (and I FIRMLY believe this) LOUD PIPES SAVE LIVES! I just about pulled out one dark night on a bike,,, until I heard him. I ride a 2007 VTX 1300 with loud Vance & Hines pipes. None riders may think because I'm a female that I just want to be noticed with the loud noise, when in actuality, I just want to be able to ride for many more years to come. Get the pipes, it may be your best investment.

@myschpeck I used to think load pipes were not that great at getting attention. Then I got my Intruder 1400 with Vance & Hines pipes. The baffles are cut down form 8 1/4" to 2 3/4". A roll or two on the throttle and they look my way....every time.

Sorry, but motorcycles are hard to see. especially when they are flying at 100 mph on the interstate (or even worse, on city streets). In the end we are all responsible for our own safety, with blind spots, and tiny speeding bikes, accidents do happen. This should be a lesson to all bikers. Follow traffic laws, drive defensively, and always assume that cars don't see you. Hell, when I'm a pedestrian or on a bicycle, I assume that no car sees me. Haven't been hit yet.

I nearly pulled out in front of a bike up in Austin 10 years ago .. Stopped in plenty of time , but the guy pulled up to my window and started to give me " the lecture" I told him to be quiet ! , that I'd been on bikes for over 40 years , that I HAD looked and did not see him ! On Sept. 3rd,2011 I was rear ended by a drunk driver the first words she said was "I didn't see you" not only was she drunk she was talking on her phone. I was a lucky man that night as I got to walk away though in a great deal of pain I survived, the Dr. says I will live with this pain the rest of my life because of a drunk on a phone. It's been 5 months now off work and hoping to return soon. Please take up the fight in your state's to get cellphone use banned in moving vehicles.

You know I have put several thousands of miles on my bike and I ride solo.
I have never been cut off. Never had any driver"not see me". I drive a quiet bike .
I also drive as if I an surrounded by vehicles that are big enough to kill me if someone screws up.
How many times have you had some asshole on a bike pass to close drive past what they control and squeeze through where no vehicle would be expected?

Paying attention does not stop some dickhead in a pickup pulling out of a junction in front of me. Loud bikes are unnecessary; people in cars & bikes need to drive/ride responsibly. Take driver safety class, and learn to do everything reasonable to avoid an accident. (thats what they actually teach). Because you ride a bike or drive a certain kind of car/truck you don't have any special entitlement over anyone else. There are a lot of bad attitudes and no one is above anyone else, there are wreckless drivers on both sides; what do you do if its survival between you or the other guy?

I myself have taken a Stars riders safety course, and have ridden more than 20 years. NOTHING could have prevented the accident. An old couple pulled out of a bookstore, making a left turn 20 feet in front of me. People in automobiles just don't watch. Don't believe me? Ride one and find out. Survival? Try that on a bike.

Just because there is a "walk" signal, and you have the right of way, doesn't mean you don't look both ways before entering the crosswalk. I found this moving, and poignant. I ride a bike, and have for many years. On June 21st, I was hit by an old man pulling out of a bookstore. I was lucky. It was a 30 zone. Any faster, and I would've been killed. Now it's August 10th, I still have a lot of pain, 30k in medical bills and my Harley is toast. It took me years of maximum effort to save and buy my dream bike and now it's a wreck. It's one thing to know people who have had them, or died from accident. Please look twice. Thx, Dunwyche~

I didn't start riding until I was 56. I'm now 64 and love riding with my girlfriends and husband. I'm a wife, mother of 4 and grandmother of 14. I love the Lord and serve Him. How would you explain to my family that you didn't see me? There are a lot of us out there on the road on 2 or 3 wheels who enjoy the sport. We pay out taxes, follow the law, hubby is retired cop. Show some respect. We might be the person you need to save your life.

Great Video ...... I almost got run over by a drifter to my lane. It was an act of God that my bike didnt wreck when I hit the brakes to try to get out of his way. Those that hate us remember .... most of us are not bad at all. Most of just want to enjoy our motorcycles and at the end of the day go home.

Thats the point they dont return the favor. Ive had several close calls with bikers and EVERY time it was THEIR fault. They weave in and out of traffic and think they need to be going 50+ mph over the speed limit all the time. I drive a fast vehicle too but I dont drive like that. Theres a reason I have a problem with bikers.

The first engine powerd thing I had was a Honda Monkey when I was 5. So I think I can say I am a biker with every inch of my body and soul. But the way car owners treat bikers is really sad. And then they say that bikers are agressive and violant. Like WTF ??? If you almost drive me off the road or turn me into a roadkill, then how can you say we are agressive ? Very Important Message! I do believe in giving Motorcyclists and all cyclists a full share on the road way but there are bad riders as there are bad drivers. There seems to be a rash of stupid people thinking they have the right to weave in and out of traffic at reckless speeds, no signals, no space, no cares.
