@HakitoCZ Peer block automatically blocks a set list of over 1 billion IP addresses. the websites cannot connect to your computer unless you allow them temp, or permenately. It shows you the IP addy trying to connect, and the company behind it. Real examples from me: I goto a porn site and it's bloicked, I pull up PB and the company name says Trojan Infested..a hah...I never went to the porn site again. You'll be amazed at the companies behind what you click on. I will continue this.

Occasionlly used when torrenting to prevent connection to malicious peers (yet no evidence has been shown that it prevents being caught in the first place) and for the difference between LOIC and HOIC- I'm not completely sure but would suggest different, more stable code. There's also something about HOIC having the ability to take down websites permanently.

@AnarchyEngineer Wrong. You can't take it down permanently unless you get control of the hosting. Read: US taking over megaupload's hosting.

Also HOIC attacks not only the base url but subdirectories and other files on the server, taxing it with much more requests that loic would.

A good botnet will take down any site as long as they don't use...any kind of traffic shaping. Really, if your website can't stop this, then you really shouldn't have a website, or a server. What you need to fear are the botnets, or some guy with a cracked AS and a lot of time on his hands.
