  • This looks like a high voltage problem. It would account for the fact that the trace is blurred and that the horizontal sweep looks like it's several times as long as the screen is wide.

I started fixing/calibrating them in 1969 in the UK, alas I have no manuals or spares to help you with.

  • Anyone repair these oldies or can provide tips? Mine has the "dot" stuck to the right side. Thanks, Karl.

  • @KarlZona Well it seems as though you dont have and horiz sweep. I dont have a schematic in front of me right now, so start subbing the tubes in that circuit or look at some possible leaky or open caps.

  • Please turn down the brightness and adjust the contrast. If you didn't adjust properly the brightness pot the the tube will be damaged!

  • I have a 547 and I'm pretty sure what you're seeing is a result of how the camera works, rather than the actual brightness of the 547.

Try it. I was surprised as well, I had to turn the brightness down to prevent that kind of flaring. I think still cameras have a Bayer pattern sensor with twice as many green as red/blue sensors, maybe that's why they're so sensitive to the green phosphor.
