  • guys i dont have Win 7 and i have ask

in Media Center can you watch TV without any hardware??

or it needs something to buy?

  • You need to plug in TV cable to get the channels. You can't just view it through the internet connection alone. Hope this clears up any misunderstanding this this clearly falsely advertised feature.

  • @likeZOMGlmfao hehe yeah I didn't quite understanded how it works, but this indeed clears it up - thanks! it's pretty useless without a TV cable I suppose.

  • wait.. how are you gettting like real channels? im getting all this weird never heard of bullshizz

  • I still can't get internet tv, I followed the steps with the download, which I did and it said that it'll download a guide or something and once it was completed, I restarted WMC and there wasn't any changes

  • If the download completed it should be under "TV" on the main menu. Was it there before you restarted?

  • The only options are 'recorded tv' and 'live tv setup'

The same as before I updated.

  • Have you tried re-downloading the WMC data? If you are sure the update was downloaded, you should head over the the Microsoft Answers forum for more technical help:

    answers.microsoft. com

  • Okay thanks, i'll get on there

  • i have windows 7 ultimate but the guide dont show up on my media center. why??? can some one help. how do i get the guide? i tried doing the thing down load now option and it still dont show up?

  • Have you followed the steps in the guide setup tutorial?

    microsoft. com/windows/windows-media-center/learn-more/record-tv/tutorials/broadcast-tv-setup-guide.aspx

  • @WindowsVideos

i think how do i check that. o do i need a tv tuner to get internet t.v

  • You will only need a tv tuner for broadcast tv, but you can still access Internet TV. Here are more details (without the spaces in the URL of course):

    microsoft. com/windows/windows-media-center/learn-more/internet-tv/tutorials/internet-tv-find.aspx

  • Is this free if not is it cheap?

  • Windows Media Center is actually included in Windows 7.

  • I'm windows 7 and i have a tvcard pci in my pc but i can't record my cable tv shows, media center stops the process, tvcard pci is

a ENCORE ENLTVFM PCI, and when i want to wacth my shows in media center it's the same, stop the signal.

  • what this have to do with windows 7? You need some tv-card and antenna or cable.. I have tv in my pc what uses windows vista but i can't find any channels with the antenna

  • any one know how to get subs on media center

  • Here are instructions on enabling subtitles, hope this helps!

    windows.microsoft. com/en-US/windows-vista/Show-closed-captions-or-subtitles-in-Windows-Media-Center

  • i did it but did not work i think it's something that envolves where i download it from and the codecs

  • Yeah, your content must support subs also.

  • family guy!

  • i give up

  • Which model are you using? Here's a list of all the models that are supported in Windows 7 and WMC:

    hauppauge. com/site/support/windows7_product_list.html

  • FFS they say that you don't need a tv tuner for internet tv yet I can't find any tutorial on how to set it up! It's not even on WMC!

  • Here's a tutorial on Internet TV and how to set it up. Let me know if you're still having issues.

    microsoft. com/windows/windows-media-center/get-started/internet-tv.aspx

  • My friend uses this instead of TiVo, and it won't let him watch his recorded shows on any portable devices like iPhone. It's copy guarding everything he tapes. Pointless! Any workarounds?

  • most OSes are obligated to ahere to copyright restrictions but I'm almost possitive there are some 3rd part programs that let you export the programs to avi and divx formats... though not sure iphone can play Divx.

  • love that chick at 0:34 :P

  • so will window start a new cable company

  • No, Windows Media Center uses your cable provider so if you have a TV tuner (you can get one for about $50 to plug into your USB port) you can connect the cable cord to your PC and watch and record TV. If you have an Xbox 360 you can output windows media center to your TV wirelessly. You can also put Windows Media center on your TV through a cable too if you want to. Oh yeah, you can also watch instant netflix movies in Windows Media Center and a lot of other cool stuff like see internet TV.

  • i know about media center i said that because of the networking you do with your tv is like a cable company would do

  • Once u make u record a video can you put on youtube?

  • That isn't a feature of Media Center, but you can upload videos directly from Windows Live Movie Maker to YouTube.

  • You can't put TV shows on youtube legally so no.

  • windows Media center sucks The VAIO is better you only have to connect one cable not like window media is like 2 cables.

  • I'm sorry, isn't VAIO a brand of sony computers? All you need is the cable cord to connect to your TV tuner in windows media center.

  • gwegwerg

  • I wish it works.

    In Vista it works fine,

but in 7 it cant find any channels, and i use

    ASUS My Cinema U3000 Mini.

    I don't know why?

  • Message sent.

  • WINDOWS 7 is the BEST VERSION OF WINDOWS EVER

  • My school is on TV! XD

  • And why aren't you airing this on television..?

  • Nice advertisement for my school haha.

  • oh haay university of washington. :]

  • Hahaha! Funny how Windows Media Center is lagging in the video. XD FAIL!

  • that is because they are recording a screen witch only lets you play at a low fps

  • lmao thought the same thing

  • Song?

  • It's a great song by Daniel Kamas called "Seven". You can download it and all the songs featured in these commercials at win741. Just click the orange box with the Windows 7 logo in the bottom right to access.

    win741 com

  • Haha thanks I thought so.. I checked the website a couple minutes ago since it was linked in the description but I didn't find the song, thanks again.

  • Daniel Kamas, a singer songwriter from Texas

  • Windows 7 FTW

  • I have WMC in Vista, but I can't find any tv channel. Pls someone tell me how I can do this...

  • your pc has to have a tv tuner and u should connect the tv cable to your pc thats how i have it atleast i havent messed with it in a while

  • u need a tv tuner

  • Do you have a TV tuner?

  • You need to have a TV Tuner. You can buy them in most technology stores

  • you need a tv tuner.

  • You need to buy a TV tuner for your PC. It will let you:

-watch shows on ATSC (DTV) channels

-watch channels in Clear QAM (from your cable provider, though it's probably just broadcast)

-listen to analog FM radio stations.

Setup is easy (usually) and you can use WMC as a DVR. Also, Windows 7 will enable you to hook up an OpenCable (CableCARD) tuner to your PC, so you can dump your cable box and get all of your cable TV (minus Pay Per View and On Demand) on Windows Media Center.

  • Wow. Just uploaded. =) Pretty cool!

  • INDEED!

  • why because there wasnt an apple logo anywhere on this commercial? you would probably praise this if macs had it

  • lmfao nice :P

    and very true indeed.
