@pabcq django reinhardt, charlie christian, tal farlow and joe pass. In that order .. then onto wes montgomery of course. I'm sure he forgot Blind Lemon Jefferson by accident ;p
@ihazaburgr the stuff he said at the end about the key of D natural was also very interesting. i would never have thought that. too bad the interviewer was to busy trying to "out knowledge" george he completely missed it! lol! after a while George was just like whatever man have it your way.
i'm willing to bet no more than 2 people can appreciate this post...but for me, jazz is one of the highest forms of, not just music, but of art in general...Benson is a jazz god..I'm lucky he existed in my lifetime...
@vinceism1 - I completely agree with you. Jazz is one of the highest forms of art. Of course however, because it requires an actual attention span & an understanding & it's very cerbral, it has less people who appreciate it. Anyway, George Benson is one of the finest Jazz guitarists out there. He puts so much color & personality into his solos. Simply put, the mean is a living legend. I got lucky enough to shake his hand after one of his concerts. He's completely a gentleman.
Man o man! When benson plays, his virtuosity, intensity and feel, and inner rhythm is truly the most beautiful creature to behold. Moves me to tears, how he lives music and evokes its spirit via his fingertips, fretboard and strings. A happy Benson is a delarious self!
Thanks so much for posting this series!!!
