  • nothing against david lynch, and i didnt watch this movie yet... but the trailer makes it look like a terrible b-movie ..

  • @ZAToMsTyLee It's only because it was really low budget and you don't understand David Lynch.

  • what's with the ameteurish lighting and camera work? It looks like an elaborate student film.

  • ΛΥΝΤΣαρισμένο σενάριο!!!

  • The song?

  • I DIDN'T LIKE IT BECAUSE I DIDN'T UNDERSTAND IT WHICH FRIGHTENS ME, I ONLY LIKE BORING FILMS THAT MAKE SENSE THEY MAKE ME FEEL SAFE

  • I think a lot of the negative comments about Inland Empire come from judgments based off of the initial viewing. At the risk of sounding pretentious, it seems that people tend to highly dislike things they don't understand. Things of a complex nature usually require a couple of attempts at them before they click, before your brain can attempt to digest the information it's receiving.

I felt confused and let down on my first viewing of IE. I now find it highly enjoyable, my favorite film.

  • @idiotprayer628 People dont understand that they need to form their own conclusions about these movies. they are too used to having the plot handed to them.

  • this movie fucked up something in my head

  • Lynch CLEARLY phoned this flick in. I've watched and enjoyed ALL of his past films, but this one was clearly either a "fuck you" to the producers or a strung-out wish. Nothing is good in this movie. No ideas. No metaphors. No nothing. As much as I had hoped for another hard-to-figure-out masterpiece, all I found was garbage. Blech.

  • David Lynch is by an far my favorite director (Chris Nolan being a close second). Call "Inland Empire" sloppy, call it nonsensical; batter it with a full litany of insults if you will. I feel as though this movie was a masterpiece (albeit a subordinate one to the magnus opum that is "Mullholland Drive"). If you have a chance, check out my Lynch video tribute on my profile :). Thanks and go Lynch!!!

  • Kind of lazy filmmaking. Artistic somewhat but lazy. Highly expressive but definitely not a feat of skill or creativity.

  • ha!!! another david lynch classic

  • I think this movie required more attention than i was willing to give it.

  • was this movie good? i heard mixed things about it from fans

  • This film was the ultimate mindfuck ever! I was pondering whether to give it a rating but realised that it's impossible to do so...

  • the camera quality in this movie looks amerature, but the movie looks awesome! LYNCH FOREVER!

  • what the fuck is that at 1:03

  • i went to see inland empire at the show a lot of people walked out . i stayed fo the whole movie and enjoyed every minute. David Lynch has a certain formula that a lot of people won,t get all i can say is he is one of the great film masters of our time

  • @howpow45 I would have have walk-out from this piece of trash also! I don't want to watch anything that is written or scripted by a psycho and that will affect me or others negatively with this psychos' imagination. I'd rather stick with all-well-ends-well or lived-happily-ever-after movies, and that's how I see my life! Movies do affect us subconsciously. Depends on what you watch you will later seek psychiatrists and psychologists while others, like myself, search for motivational speakers.

  • @23parkour23 i slightly agree, but just because you see someone jump off a cliff in a movie, DOES NOT mean you are gonna do it in real life. you cud blame homicide on movies, but where did serial killers get their inspiration from before movies? doesn't make sense. if you ask me, if somebody copy's an act from a movie, they had something wrong with them BEFORE they watched the film, therefore it is NOT the films fault.

  • @1SWINZ1 I agree, though movies do affect us on a subconscious level, & definitely affects our mood.

I see where you're going, and it makes sense. Even though I agree, I'd still prefer to watch a movie that sparks a good mood in me rather than a negative one. Maybe back then, before the movies, they had other things that inspired them to commit crime, like stories. Though I might be wrong, there could be a possibility that some people r just natural psychos. Nice talking to u, my last comment!

  • I still think Blue Velvet and Twin Peaks are the best things Lynch has done. Putting the surrealism in a familiar framework is his genius. The darkness underneath the beauty. The film FWWM I think is even better than the series and is a hearbreaking look at child abuse through the use of symbolism and metaphor. It's a masterpiece

  • Dont watch this movie, it is worser then every drug. It will fuck you up.

  • holycock of jesus, was this shit made by amatures and all recorded cellphones?

  • @NiNE1911 Maybe you should just watch some dumbass movie like The Expendables. That would be better suited for you.

  • @verebril why u jealous tho ? Expendables was a nice movie, you don't have to hate if you can't afford a movie ticket

  • @NiNE1911 whatever, how was crank 2: High Voltage pal?

  • @UnaDahmer Worse than Crank (1) was.

  • God this film was bad. I love Lynch's films and own everything from Eraserhead to Mulholland drive (with the exeption of Straight story which I haven't seen). But this was unbearable torture that took forever to go nowhere. His films are always vague but here there isn't even a thread of character or story to care about proceedings. On top of that it's bloody ugly so you don't even get the classic lynch dark, surrealist beauty just amateur close ups on a camera. Garbage

  • @dtsnes86 what a shame you could appreciate the brilliance of eraserhead and mulholland drive but not this one. this is actually my favourite of lynch's work with the aforementioned closely behind. Even the 75 minutes extra footage in 'more things that happened' i felt was completely welcome and thought it was brilliant also.

Hey if you're not feeling it then that's just how it is =).

But i wholeheartedly disagree with anyone saying this film is 'bad'

  • @MrMerlin87 I just found there was never anything to latch onto which made you feel a part of what was going on. I can see how it could be seen as Eraserhead meets Mulholland drive. It has the nightmarish midnight movie feel about it and the dreamlike hollywood mystery as well. But its not a patch on either. I know for a fact this was just made up as it went along as an experiment. It means nothing and it isn't worth anyones time to sit through such self indulgence for three hours.

  • @dtsnes86 I could be wrong but id guess youve only seen it once.

i was completely baffled on the first viewing my idea of what was going on was constantly changing as a scene would dismiss a possible idea. I appreciate that like eraserhead lynchs movies can simply be experienced and not 'figured out' however so many scenes in this film confirm my theory that im sticking to it!

And think about it arent parctically all stories made up as they go along? certainly doesnt mean it has no sense to it

  • This trailer is worse edited than mine.

  • it looks like it was filmed with a handheld camera, lol. Whats the effect he's going for?

  • this is the only movie I've ever seen that I've actually totally lost myself in.... and I don't know if that's good or bad...

  • Lynch is a sick in his mind.

  • its meant to be terrifying but i turned it off after one hour - its hilariously over-the-top and unbelievably crazy. i mean im into stuff that pushes barriers but c'mon!

  • wtf is that @ 1:05 ??

  • @xcarlosssx dying Phantom

  • This film puts me into a mild hypnotic state - like any of Lynch's films, I seem to forget about the outside world when I watch this.

  • sad that Lynch's Mullholand drive (which was a great movie) overshadowed this gem

  • A woman in trouble...

  • that is really weird shit! 3h full of weird shit!

  • O tipo de filme para assistir de madrugada, sem ninguém incomodando.Não perca uma fala, pois poderá perder o filme.

  • the music, the camera work, freaked me out, but loved it. Muholland Dr

  • With David Lynch, film becomes art again -finally.

  • @0atommie1

Like modern paintings with misfigured shapes..

    something like that

  • that movie gave me cancer

  • Too much thinking ?

  • @lsvperstar to much retardation

  • @ZackAttack261 Sweet! Hopefully you'll die really soon.

  • @DOAJiggle I almost did die watchin that crap

  • @ZackAttack261 cool! Watch it again!!

  • i didnt understand this movie :S

  • you should watch this monstrosity of a film in a cinema. no one going to toilet, no one coughing, no one noshing sth, no cell ringing, doors locked - enter the ultimate mindfuck

  • This could very easily be one of the scariest movies I've ever seen. David Lynch has a way with creating sounds and images that makes him a master of film. Laura Dern was robbed of an Oscar, she ends up playing at least four different people in this movie, and does each one masterfully.

  • What's the name of the song that starts at 0:37?

  • @012345678S david lynch - ghost of love

  • Thanks! :D

  • looks awesome...David Lynch is the master...im downloading it right now!

  • BTW does anybody know the name of the song in the background?

  • im definitely gonna watch this movie, i've always loved Lynch's work, i think Mulholland Dr is one of his best works, his stories are so psychologically fascinating

  • is this movie shoot in HD video?

it is a great film about film making story.

  • No it was shot with a Sony PD 150, NTSC Standard definition camcorder (DV Cam). But the final Master is an HDCAM tape.

  • how did you know all this? why the final master is an HDCAM tape?

    thanks anyway.

  • i researched the tech specs for that. And it can also be found on the internet movie database. David Lynch also replied to an question on what camera he was using. He said his little "toycamera, a Sony PD 150 camcorder". Well a pretty expensive toy ;)

I wish he would have used a PAL camera and not an NTSC Modell. I wonder if his next project will be HDV allready.

  • thank you.

so,the fact is he made a long movie by DV Cam.

what are people doing here?! act like a girl fan...talking about movies and ideals and bala bala la...

use a PAL or not PAL camera make your next project man! that what Inland Empire realy about!!

  • @Asuhix Lynch never had a script! I am not trying to say he didnt have some kind of plot in his mind, for sure he had something. And whatever it was, it is beyond everyone! Even the actors from this movie! :)

  • By the way, the way this movie was shot reminds me of Lucifer Valentine's movies. Creepy...

  • @Asuhix Amen!

And to the people that don't "get it" - The movie is weird, but it holds the story of a woman, captured in different worlds and hypostases. David Lynch himself said he didn't have a ready script for this, he just kept shooting the film, not knowing where will it end. And even Laura Dern said she didn't know what was Inland Empire about, or what role she was playing, because it is a psychological movie, duh! ..People are so ignorant.

  • Its like if Francis Bacon painted a movie. Lynch is badass def wanna see this. The weirder the better

  • well fuck tht movie

  • this is so strange. i think if i watch it i'll go insane. and wtf 1:03

  • i'll take your word then

  • for some reason :22 is the scariest thing ive ever seen

  • what about 1:03

Solche eindrücke bringt ganz bestimmt kein amateur zusammen

  • nicht dein ernst oder??

  • theres something genuinely unsettling about this movie. It imbued me with a sort of fearful wary feeling.I was scared but i liked it! Its not an easy watch and does challenge your patience in some ways. Its infuriatingly obscure and really quiete nonsensical but hey maybe thats the point. Im a fan of davids anyway so...

  • like mulholland drive and lost highway i can see how frustrating lynch's movies can be if you do not understand them...but once you do...boy, they just blow your socks off...

  • @mousehead2000 come on man....there's nothing to understand in the lost highway...that one sucks, pure garbage...this one sucks too...on the other hand mulholland dr is a great movie

  • @Corleonetone Like Muholland Drive, Lost Highway is about seemingly normal people experiencing extreme Freudian 'wish-fulfillment'. Bill Paxton, paranoid, commits the heinous act of murdering his wife (Patricia Arquette). Tormented and wracked with guilt he 'becomes' another person (Balthazar Getty) where he is able to 'start again' with someone who looks like his wife only for his demons to bring him full circle.

  • @mousehead2000 I still don't get Mulholland Drive, but I absolutely love it all the same. With Lynch it is just as much about mood and setting as it is about the story itself

  • @Sindizwe Muhollan Drive is about an ambitious Hollywood wannabe (Naomi Watts) who falls in love with another woman (Laura Harring) only to be spurned and jilted. She hires a hit man to have her killed which results in her suffering from guilt and intense wish-fulfillment (the first 2/3s of the movie). The last 3rd of the movie is her return to reality, guilt wracked and tormented by her own demons (elderly couple) which leads her to commit suicide.

  • @mousehead2000 good explaining of the plot. But what's the point with the small blue box?

  • @Kadavernazion the small box is where the dream ends and we return to reality. i guess it represents the doorway that bridges the two...

  • @mousehead2000 okay then...explain me inland empire

  • @Corleonetone I've only seen it twice now so haven't absorbed it completeley but it also seems to be about identity and wish fulfillment. But I quite enjoy the process of figuring it all out. Like a jigsaw puzzle.

  • @mousehead2000 You might think you understand Lynch's film, but you don't, it's purely subjective, even he says he doesn't understand some of his ideas, he wants everyone to have their own interpretation of the films because quote 'all viewers on the surface are different', he wants you to figure it out for yourself, delete your interpretation of Mullholland Drive, because to me, it's utter bullshit.

  • @hobobastard my interpretation is valid as my intepretation. you don't have to agree with it. anyhow, i've deleted it, as you requested.

  • @mousehead2000 so far i watched 4 of them and, well thye are all total nonsence just like the trailers, that being said i wont bother watching this one, imo this guy makes some really..."Random" movies, i fail to see someone's talent when he makes a film like everyone knows the story and has to make it random so the story does not feel predictable and even him can get lost along the way.

  • @au25 that's okay. that's how i felt about his work at first.

  • i wish he does a western someday

  • brilliant

  • Miles above anything David Lynch ever made, and he is one of my favorite directors.

  • A Lynch's masterpiece. Just not better than Lost Highway (my favorite film) but a really great movie.

  • good movie, one of the best lynch films since ERaserhead. If you like lost highway, this might not be for you.
