Normally it's better to extract the file to the place first or extract it to a temporary folder.

@flyingturkeyman1999 The plane you downloaded may not have a cockpit modeled at least the 3d. If you don't see the outside of your plane then there is something wrong.

@TSBA92 If you are on XP then you don't have to worry about it. Other wise on 7 or Vista you need to turn it off or allow permission to the FSX folder.

When I go to the control panel and the user thing, everything looks identical to yours except the tab where yours says to turn it off. Mine says "change user account control settings", which then has a bar minimizing its effectiveness. Do I use that?

@airblade124 Yes, There is. Go click on computer, then click on program files x86 then click on Microsoft games then click Microsoft Flight Simulator X then click on SimObjects. Then click on airplanes. Then right click on the airplane folder that u downloaded on ur desk top and click extract all. Then it should make a new file on ur desktop. Then just simply drag the folder from ur desktop into the airplanes folder. But make sure that u don't have FSX running when you do this. It's not hard

@slcldsprovo Maybe not max settings as I found out that anything at max settings with addons is nearly impossible. You should be able to run it high or ultra high if you run only default which it sounds like you are not.

@TSBA92 Saving and downloading are the same thing. Once you download/save the file extract it then move it into the aircraft folder.

@TSBA92 Sorry for not getting back to you. Did you figure it out? Is it actually an aircraft or just a repaint. There is a difference. Also try reading the read me as it might have a few specific install instructions if there are any.

@thefsxflyer I was able to figure out how to get single aircraft into the game, I was just forgetting to extract the files. What I'm still having difficulty with is ones that have like 4 planes (for instance, 4 De-Havilland dash 8's), those never seem to show up in the simulator, and repaints. With repaints, after I copy all that information about the texture into the one about the actual default carrier, when i go to save it, it always comes up with an access denied messge

i finnaly got it to work. just had to defrag my hard drive. plus all the rly good ones come with auto installers like pmdg captain sim and all that. if you do what it says in this vid and u have texture problems than try defragmenting your hard drive.

@sethch53 Usually means something was incorrect but I mean it could be multiple things. If it was an airplane texture usually its somethign do with the aircraft.cfg. If it was a model plane then my guess is permissions maybe I really don't know
