It's not because of Foxdie, either Trevit1993. Snake is a clone and his cells were engineered to age rapidly after he hit a certain age to prevent the use of him by other nations and factions. He was given a very limited ammount of time to complete his missions and wipe the slate clean for the next generation to start anew. This was all explained in MGS4. Too bad several whiners skipped the cutscenes. Everything was thoroughly explained.
