  • wat's the song called in this video

  • omg best movie ever! vioku. com got it on high definition

  • link?

  • superb action/fight sequences, alot of talking though and dr manhattan really bored me with all his philosophical 'i don't have to save the earth' crap although i did gape slack-jawed at his FIT NAKED body :-p. i loved rorschach. good sex scenes too :-p. A good film, but after 2 and a half hours you do want it to hurry up and end! Finally, i did prefer dark knight but watchmen is hardly comparable to that,

  • WATS THIS SONG???????

    at the begining

  • Comment removed

  • The Beginning is the End is the Beginning by the Smashing Pumpkins. It was a song back in 1997 that was used in the Batman & Robin soundtrack.

  • the beginning is the end is the beginning by smashing pumpkins

  • The beginning is the end is the beginning by smashing pumpkins a real awesome song.

  • if you thought this was boring its because u don't have the mental capacity to understand the storyline

thats the problem with people these days

they go to see movies that are mindless and if they see one with a plotline its suddenly a "boring movie"

  • Or rather, it actually was boring because all the supposedly profound moments and moral dilemmas were actually quite contrived and cliched. In fact, if you thought this movie was particularly special, you probably cannot distinguish mediocrity from the sublime. Don't tell me that I don't have the mental capacity to appreciate forgettable detritus. Go read a book.

  • Looks awesome!!

    5/5!

Glad they used the song The Beginning Is The End Is The Beginning once again.

  • whats the first song called?

  • the beginning is the end of the beginning.. or the end is the beginning is the end.. i dunno. theres 2 versions with different names. anyway i know that its by the smashing pumpkins.

  • Squid or no squid it's going to be brilliant. Thank god it still looks faithful to the comic, so retro and gritty

    I can't wait til 6th march!

  • In the other trailer, Rorsharch said "Watchmen, one of us died tonight." ..what's up with that..

  • Trailers often splice together different pieces of dialogue and say things that are never said in the film in that way i.e. in the film he most likely says 'one of us died tonight' not 'watchmen, one of us.."

  • ....giant squid....not...in....MOVIE!!!?

  • in the commercials they censor doctor manhattans area (genitals)

  • I wonder what's everybody's fascination with the Silk Spectre-hair-in-face-slo-mo scene. Pisses me off.

  • I also really want to know which song that is in the beginning, does anyone know? Please say if you do! Thanks!

  • The Beginning Is The End Is The Beginning - The Smashing Pumpkins

  • they changed the giant squid ending in the movie

  • well alan moores going to be even more pissed then he already is

  • why would he be pissed before finding out about the giant squid ending being removed?...except for the shitty kids merchandise.

  • Whats that song that plays in the beginning?

  • manhattan's gonna blow the city then...

  • In the graphic novel he doesn't, I think it's just the editing make it look that way, if it follows the finale of the story somebody else blows it up, but I don't want to say who due to spoilers.

  • don´t worry I know that in the graphic novel is a: (spoiler fucking alert NEXT- - -)) fifth dimensional phalymapod or "giant squid" as everyone likes to call it, but I heard that Snyder didn´t like this idea of the squid so the rumor was that Veidt convinces Manhattan to blow the city, I just thought the rumor was true due to 0:20 and 0:28 of this vid (shame this motherfuckers spiled out the whole shit in the tv spot), besides I see they chose to remove the full-face comedian mask, god damm!

  • Hey kurono, read the graphic novel- You see Manhattan there? He's in Vietnam at the time. Several years prior to watchmen's story.

  • but what the fuck are you talking about, they could have edited it very easy just because they show manhattan in 'nam in one shot and in the next a nuclear explotion it doesn't mean is that way in the movie, look at the trailer before spilling bulshit.

  • P.S. JedChrizt: Dr. Manhattan was not in Vietnam at the time of the 'event' shown in New York.

  • He is in Vietnam at 00:24.

I don't see Manhattan in NY in this trailer except for when he teleports Silk to NY (which is in the end after he decides that he will 'save earth'). If you are referring to 'blue explosion' then I doubt very much that it's to do with Manhattan.

  • Oh shit!! You may be right on the whole Dr. Manhattan blowing up New York. I always assumed from the trailer that he was in Vietnam, but it actually looks like they edited it to make it look like he's there, when actually that is what he looks like when he blows up Manhattan(0:22)

  • READ THE BOOK!!!

  • I have read the book, and I know that Dr. M and the Comedian were both in Vietnam. But what I was saying is that the trailer could just be making it look like that is Dr.M in Vietnam, when really that's him standing over New York. Since the giant squids out of the picture i think it's reasonable to suggest that a man with close to unlimited power could be the one that blows up New York.

  • what do you mean squid is out of the picture?

  • The director told the media that they aren't going to include the squid in the movie.

  • if they didn't then this movie already failed

  • yeah, I'm pretty sure that's it, I mean if you take a closer look at 0:26, you kind of wonder, where the fuck in the graphic novel you see new york being destroyed by a BLUE nuclear blast, and in 0:20 I can't really tell if it's mars or the earth but manhattan seems to blow the shit out of some huge place... you judge...

  • oh and, you can also see 0:24 of the 3th tv spot, I mean if Manhattan is not blowing up new york in there I can't really imagine what the fuck is that.

  • Judging by what Zach Snyder has said, yes, I think you're right. However, the 'blue stuff' doesn't give anything away; remember that in the graphic novel there was still a blue-white 'burst' when the (insert plot device) was beamed into the place.

  • Yeah, well I have the g.n here and the blast wasn't that blue, whatever it is, I don't like the idea of Manhattan nuking the place, and I don't like the idea they took of comedian's mask, it was really cool.......

  • I completely agree about the Comedian's mask. And have you seen his limp excuse for a 'scar'? Geez.

The 'event' in the movie may not be Dr. Manhattan but instead merely (villain) using technology based on Dr. Manhattan's teleportation. At least, that's what has been in some of the reports.

  • now that you mention it I havn't seen the scar in any picture, what do you mean by that?, don't tell me they removed it

  • They didn't remove the scar; it's just ridiculously different than the book. Perhaps it's more realistic to human anatomy, I don't know (not a doctor), but it doesn't have that beautiful 'tie-in' symbolism that makes the Watchmen. There's no 'smiley-face' scar to hide. The scar is like a slash up the cheek, not from the corner of the mouth. Wussy scar. Total fubar.

  • I think that's a good choice on Snyder's part, seeing as THE DARK KNIGHT film just did that last summer.

I know this novel came out before that film, but still, it wouldn't read as original.

  • Well I guess we'll find out soon enough anyways

  • that'll be really lame imo

  • Because people enjoy seeing spot-on adaptions of seminal literary achievements such as Watchmen.

Now go look up what seminal means and get the fuck out.

  • FUCK U

  • Considering the fact that the book is on Time Magazine's 100 best novels list and it's the only graphic novel to win the Hugo award and is the most celebrated graphic novel of all time, It will pull in a big audience.

  • i havent seen any tv spots on tv yet lol but i live in australia so i dunno......we get watchmen a day before america

  • lucky :)

  • When i first saw the first trailer, it catched my attention, i knew nothing about watchmen, but what striked me was that a "Super Hero" movie was Rated R, ever since ive been catching up on the book

  • yah there's a lot of hype about it, and i want to read it now as well, is it a series of comics or one book?>

  • One book

  • one book that was orginally a series of about 11 comic books(i think it was 11 might have been up to 16)

  • at 25 seconds, laurie looks fucking angry as shit loo

  • Batman is not a hero. All he has is technology. IN YOUR FACE. i just had to, sorry.

  • yeah he is, batman is a hero. wat he isn't is a "SUPER" hero. but anyways he does some pretty SUPER things.

  • I hope they don't fuck the ending like I've heard will happen so many times. If it gets to the ending, and I'm not happy with it, I'm going to stand up and boo my way all the way down to the exit. Yes, I'll ruin it for everyone else, but if the movie wasn't already ruined for them after the ending then they deserve to have it ruined by me.

  • Yes, they've changed the ending. It won't honor the spirit of the original ending completely, but at least they'll get the gist of it which is the most you could hope for from a movie adaptation.

Don't boo though. That's just immature. If you're really upset, just don't watch the movie.

  • looks sounds badass wtf is watchmen

  • the girl has a sexy ass outfit

  • i know this movie will be amazing...but what if it turned out like Dare Devil...or Punisher hahaha....oh...god help us all

  • I read this book, so i hope the movie is at least as good.

  • what is this song called?

  • The Beginning is the End is the Beginning by The Smashing Pumpkins.

  • The movie running time has been revealed. It is 2 hours and 43 minutes.

  • check out the trailer for

    UNTITLED SAL LUPO PROJECT

    i'm a filmaker & cabdriver in NYC.

    it come out real good.

  • Marvel is awsome when it comes to comics, but DC definetly wins in better movies!

  • yea, no offense to Marvel but they seem to just have 1 new movie after another and as a result their quality isnt that great(of course Iron Man is an exception)

  • You are a fucking moron. Marvel does NOT make the movies, Marvel just sells the rights to their comics, allowing a production company to make the film. Large companies who rush production are to blame. Oh, and BTW, this film has been under production since 1986. (long before spidey, xmen or iron man.) The script being officially used is an edited version of the 1986 script. Completed in 2001, officially written by David Hayter and edited by Darren Aronofsky, and Eric Watson.

  • I NEVER once said they made the movies, but I said they pop one right after another, whether or not they make them have nothing to do with anything

they sell the rights, they decide who they sell them to and they control how many movies are made meaning that if they want a movie of a certain character made they will either go to a company or a company will go to them

before YOU declare someone as a fucking moron pay attention to what the hell the person is even referring to

  • the people who DC sells rights to have better quality, that was the entire point of my comment which you seemed to somehow missed and instead decided that I was completely oblivious to something that was not even being discussed

  • Are you serious? To be frank with you, me calling you a fucking moron, well, it was a bit of an understatement.

Marvel Comics is a corporation which, like all business, has the intent of making MONEY. DC Comics doesn't give any more hassle, or hesitate any longer towards the bidding and sale of the rights to their comics, DC simply has a LOT less marketable products than Marvel does in the eyes of mainstream America, and no production company is going to fund a movie they think will tank.

  • I would call that anything but an understatement, like all businesses they may be out with the intention to make a profit which is why they have all their games, cartoons, movies, etc. but that is not what this discussion is about. The y are just an example of another company out to make money and care less about quality, DC has an equal amount of marketable characters and ideas that can be put into a movie or show but do not do it as often but when they do it is normally of a higher quality.

  • NO, you're comment about DC Comics' tendency to make LESS movies, but movies with higher quality, is WRONG. For one, DC couldn't sell the rights to their comics if they wanted to. If you knew anything about DC, you'd know that DC Comics' is a subsidiary company, owned by Warner Brothers.

  • And secondly, 18 DC Comic Film Adaptations have been released theatrically at this point in time. Of those 18 films, only 7 of did both of the following A.) grossed a value that was equal to or greater than the budget of the film itself. B.) Receive at least half positive praise

So, Warner Brothers/DC Comics have 7 successes out of 18 total, while by the same standards, Marvel has, at this point, 18 successes out of 20 total. Marvel has by far the better stats.

I think I win the argument.

  • yea, I knew about the whole WB/DC & the actual amount made doesnt always necessarily mean that it did well

a good example would be Spider-man 3 which everyone knows held many records while the movie sucked

and all I said was that Marvel throws out way too many movies for its own good since most are not that well done and that the few DC movies made were better in quality which is still true no matter how well they do in theaters

  • & that is my closing statement to someone who doesnt treat others with respect just because I said that DC Movies(despite being mostly a marvel fan) are generally better

and I see no point in furthering this discussion because it is a waste of people's valuable time so I will just end it here and will no longer respond

    that is all

  • Marvel has the first two x-men films, Iron Man, both of the newer Hulk films, the first punisher film, the first two blade films, and of course, the first two spider-man movies. DC doesn't come close to having as many movies worth watching, and thinking anything else is just ignorant. Have fun watching Tim Burton movies and Catwoman.

    Have fun watching Catwoman, faggot.

  • Too bad Catwoman wasn't even about the DC universe's Catwoman, faggot. Catwoman isn't black and her name isn't Patience Phillips. Obviously it's not the same thing. Go find another argument against DC comic movies. Lolz. You fail.

PS: The X-Men movies sucked. All of them. Spider-Man 2; it sucked. The only good Punisher movie was made years ago, and that's only because Dolph Lundgren was badass enough to pull the character off.

  • Catwoman was STILL a film based off the DC comic, and a BIG DC logo is viewable before the movie starts, so that's it, that's all, end of your stupid point.

  • Other than Batman Begins and The Dark Knight, DC hasn't had any films that were HONESTLY well made. Tim Burton's batman movies were bad. Supergirl was bad. Steel was bad. Catwoman is honestly one of the worst movies ever made. The Spirit was bad. Superman 3 and 4 were bad. Superman Returns was bad.

  • There was never a spider 4 and they werent in any bad they were just films you didn't like.

  • Uhhh, I said SUPERMAN 3 and 4...And my comments weren't just a reflection of my opinion, every movie I listed either has an average rating of below a 5 on IMDB, OR it made less money in theaters than it costed to make. Are you honestly going to say you liked the spirit? Catwoman? Superman 3 or IV? Steel? Batman Forever? Didn't think so. Want to know why? Because they're awful movies. Marvel's movies are better almost every time, TDK and possibly the watchmen are the ONLY exceptions.

  • Damn I am out of it Superman Spiderman. I can't believe I missed that.

  • Oh btw I liked The Spirit, Superman Returns, all the spidermans. Everyone has a different taste in movies. Not every movie has to suck. Usually if one person didn't like ti word gets around and cause a major difference in the movies box office. Not all those movies were bad. They just werent what most people had expected to see.

  • I loved Batman 89. It was easily watchable, moreso than Begins. It had a musicality to it, and not because Jack was dancing to Prince. Batman 89 is almost catchy if it were just music. I don't know, maybe that connection is odd. In any case, I rather liked it, although I agree most films have turned awry, but I don't know if it's fair to assume because DC stories have been unsuccessful it means much. I think it comes down to luck of the draw and which director and producer nabs a story 1st

  • Rather, I think certain directors and producers are ill-suited for a lot of projects.

I'm a little sloshed to type.

  • "every movie I listed either has an average rating of below a 5 on IMDB, OR it made less money in theaters than it costed to make."

The first Tim Burton Batman movie does not reflect this statement. The 89 film has a 7.5 on IDMB, first of all. Second of all, it won eight awards and was nominated for another 16. It still remains one of the highest grossing films of all time. You continue to construct arguments of fail, and you even contradict yourself. It's funny to watch so please keep going.

  • I didn't say the first Tim Burton Batman, I was referring to the other two he was involved in.

  • ". It still remains one of the highest grossing films of all time."

    No it doesn't lol...

  • "Tim Burton's batman movies were bad"

    Fail.

  • What asshole are you pulling this out of? 2/3 Punisher movies were disappointments. Does Howard the Duck ring a bell? Nick Fury: Agent of Shield? The Captain America movie? The first F4 film? The first Hulk movie? So bad they had to reboot it 5 years later. Daredevil? ELEKTRA!? Horrible. Are you seriously basing your argument off IDMB? IDMB's a melting pot of idiots, explains most likely why you spend so much time gathering states from there. I bet you base history off of Wikipedia too, ha.

  • The first Hulk movie was VERY good. The first F4 movie was never released (if you are talking about the 80's one). Daredevil and Elektra were both bad in my opinion, yes, but my point is that Marvel consecutively produces more quality films, opposed to DC.

  • ik they kinda rushed into all there movies.

  • Whats is the song name?

  • Zack really like slow motion and i do to

  • The end is the begging-By Smashing Pumpkins

  • whats the song in the beggining?

  • this is my favorite tv spot

  • I guess I said that wrong, It doesn't matter what I say though, it's only a movie in the end. lol

  • what the heck LOL you caught me off guard with that one hahaha that was hilarious ... haha good job you guys made me luagh [=

  • R rated. I LOVE IT

  • which means they can do the novel to it's full extent

  • I can't wait to see the reactions of all the people in the theater who thought they were walking into another Dark Knight or Fantastic Four, lol. Can't wait :D

  • I just finished reading the graphic novel, and man I gotta say, from what I've been seeing about the Watchmen movie, Zack Synder will be shutting some people up on March 6

  • This will be EPIC. Please people...TDK to Watchmen? Look, TDK is great, I loved it....perhaps too much, but these are two different superhero movies

  • Why is everyone comparing The Dark Knight to Watchmen? The similarities between to two end after 'Superhero'. I loved the dark knight and I'm sure I'll love watchmen just as much, maybe more who knows.

  • wtf is Watchmen, can anyone enlighten me? Another comic, only now with like 10 heroes at the same time or something?

  • This is based on a graphic novel written in the mid 1980's. It is on Time magazine 100 greatest novels since 1923. Its the winner of the HUGO award.

This story is unlike anything you've seen. Visit the official website to learn more, or better yet read the book.

  • it´s more like THE comic, or rather graphic novel. it totally subverts the traditional "super hero" tales while being damn cool at the same time. it´s grown-up stuff. you should check it out.

  • look it up on wikipedia, its the best superhero story of all time

  • for anyone bashing Watchmen here, go read the novel

you guys dont know what your talking about

  • Dark Knight wasn't that great. It was good, for sure. But best picture? Fuck no. Watchmen, if done right, will absolutely own the Dark Knight. Read Watchmen... and see if you can tell me with a straight face that the movie (if accurate) won't be better than Dark Knight. Watchmen > Dark Knight. No question.

  • So Dark Knight was not a best picture movie but The Reader was? please. Dark Knight was above The Reader and Frost/Nixon, even Milk. It will be remembered far more than those movies. Not to mention far more entertaining than those movies.

  • Yes, but Watchmen is still another dimension.

  • I never said the Reader was. And trust me. Dark Knight is not better than Milk or Frost/Nixon. Heath Ledger was outstanding as the Joker... and Nolan's direction was solid... but as a piece of film it was not that great. When being considered for best picture, you need more than entertainment value. The Joker was great... but the whole movie wasn't. Some truly embarrassing writing at points. My money is on Slumdog for best picture... now THAT'S a film.

  • Absolutely right.

  • So epic. dear god. I can't wait.

  • 0:26 EXACT shot from the comic

  • That goes for almost everything they've shown, really. This is going to be the best movie ever.

  • dam they actually r going with the manhattan turns evil ending :( rip squid

  • SPOILERS

manhattan doesn't go bad, he just allows himself to get framed by Ozzy in order to save society.

  • Hey, no reason not to set the record straight.

Watchmen seems to be turning a lot of people on to comics, which I'm all for.

  • it turned me on to comic books.

    love watchmen.

  • Spawn is from Image, damskooo.

And while Watchmen is a DC comic, it doesn't take place in the DC Universe, so you can't really lump the two together.

  • Did you just say Spawn was a Marvel character?

  • Dude you really have time answering that idiot

  • EPIC!

  • i know this won't be a perfect 10, i'm hoping for maybe 7 or 8, possibly 9?

  • On the 7th day, God gave us Chris Nolan, who gave us the Dark Knight

On the 8th day, God gave us Zack Snyder, who gave us Moore & Gibbons' Watchmen

    DC all the way baby!

Marvel got big shoes to fill!

  • lmao marvel>>> dc

dc is just batman and watchmen .

    \

marvel ironman avengers spidy spawn the hulk and many more :)

  • Yeah well, everybody is entitled to their opinion.

    Whats more important, pal?

Longetivity and cultural significance or the number of movies a company puts out?

A conundrum, a riddle if you will.

    BTW, Why so serious?

  • stop the crap joker phrases.

  • Why so serious?

  • Stop the crap responses

    Dark Knight owns

You know it, DC knows it, Marvel knows it, fanboys know it, World knows it.

    That is all.

  • Comparing the dark knight to watchmen is like comparing Pearl Harbor to Apocalypse Now. Ridiculous and insulting. The Dark Knight isn't bad, but Watchmen is sublime.

  • What is sublime?

  • Watchmen.

  • most importantly, "watchmen" is the movie adaptation of a damn fine graphic novel, hence it has a definite literary source. "the dark knight" is "just" a cool movie, a fresh view at a whole mountain of batman legends and tales.

  • look, I think WATCHMEN is a wonderful graphic novel. It's number 3 on my top ten list! But you're forgetting that Zach Snyder, a man who (in my opinion) destroyed 300, is making this into a film. I liked the comic, but who knows? The movie just might suck, As good as the comic might be. Who knows? i could be wrong. Just don't get your high hopes up is all i'm saying. Please don't bash out on me. Just trying to state an opinion in the nicest way possible.

  • i am not "bashing out on you" but keep in mind that the majority of people really liked 300, and in my opinion it was not a bad movie. i personally didn't read the comic or graphic novel for either this or 300, so maybe thats why I liked 300, and may like this movie if i watch it. just keep in mind that a movie which digresses from the original isn't always bad, just not what was expected. personally, i'm going to keep my high hopes up for a decent use of 2-2:30 hours of my time

  • well, thank you for not bashing out on me. And also for being understanding, (unlike most youtubers). I'm just saying this because the majority of people who want to see WATCHMEN have read the graphic novel and will probably analyze the movie against it. For the die hard fans, (which believe me, is A LOT!) they will get pissed for anything either left out of added in. I'm just as psyched for this movie as the next guy. I'm still anxiously waiting to buy my IMAX tickets! I'm just cautious.

  • the whole point of the makeup is too show how messy the joker can be and too show that he doesnt care

  • Nolan said he wanted the batman movies to be realistic

  • and superman. also dc movies are better than the marvel ones. IMHO

  • damnskoo, dont start typing about something you have no clue about, you just look like a fool. spawn isnt marvel and dc is not just batman and watchmen. have you ever heard of superman, wonder woman, the flash?? lol

  • hahahahahaha. DC has Green Lantern, the best comic of the decade. And Spawn? What?

  • Spawn's Image

  • thank you leadtester

  • Whats the song the the beggining

  • smashing pumpkins - the beginning is the end

  • Malin akerman cant act.

  • She's hot....

  • Yes but she cant act.

  • like that idea. I hated the Silk Spectre in the graphic novel

  • The end of this Spot is off beat.

  • Warner didn't even have rights to the film, were contacted before principal photography begin and given the option to go ahead with "clear conscious."

Sounds like Fox did everything within their right to protect their property, the bastards.

  • can't wait for this, gonna revolutionize comics. Like what spiderman did only better.

  • R rating ..well its about time

  • Oh lawl,no.

Fox only gets money from the box office over the lawsuit, they didnt have anything to do with the making of the film

  • Thats true

  • lol no.

Fox will receive from Warners an upfront cash payment pegged between $5 million and $10 million, covering reimbursement of $1.4 million the studio invested in development fees, and also millions of dollars in legal fees incurred during the case.

Fox will also get a gross participation in Watchmen that scales between 5% and 8.5%, depending on the films worldwide revenues. Fox also participates as a gross player in any sequels and spinoffs.

  • As it turns out, Fox will not be distributing the film and will also not own any other piece of the Watchmen property moving forward.

  • fox didnt help to produce or distribute the film, they just get a slice of the profits the bastards.

  • god i hope the legal sitiation settles. this movie is going to own so much

  • the legal situation has been over for a month now lol

  • Man... that ending looks really sweet. I don't care about the change anymore :P
