People can say what they want... But I work for Japanese and they are great to work for. Japanese have been building cars right with the best quality and durability for as long as I've been alive. I will always buy Honda because you get your monies worth and they run forever. So keep buying that American junk over and over and I will keep driving the same Honda. HONDA FOR LIFE!!!!!!!!!
@390merc65 You say that, but the American manufacturers are moving manufacturing OUT of the USA. On the other hand, the Japanese, particularly Honda, keep opening new plants and expanding the existing ones in the USA as well as Canada. The Germans are building in Mexico, and the Koreans still make their stuff at home (probably because it's cheaper there, still).
@maskedgunman well i am sure our government handed them free land like they have in the past ..and i just seen on the news not to long ago that all the big 3 are hiring ppl ..and if the big 3 go out of country , they do that to stay competitive to the imports ..i dont like it but thats the way it is..so the american car builders are at a disadvantage because of unions and the higher wages they must pay , but even toyota use's parts from mexico ..dont know about honda
@maskedgunman and i cant talk about honda cuzz i dont know much about them .but toyota does hire americans..but the american toyota workforce is made up of alot of part timers and temps..and i will bet honda does the same ...a honda or toyota could be assembled in my back yard, but i still will never own any import built here or not
people in alabama are so happy to get something besides mcdonalds jobs that they bust their butts at honda. honda runs a tight ship but alabama workers are so grateful that they work their butts off and do not complain. I would love to have a honda built in alabama because i figure it would be a very well made vehicle by crazy loyal alabama workers who are the hardest workers in the whole dang world!!!
Got my first car in 2002 it was a 93 Honda Civic and got 39 to 40 mpg. I loved this car and drove until 2007. Then got a brand new 07 Civic. It don't get 40mpg that my old Honda did. What happened ? Can anyone answer this question ? My Dad said something happened with inovation around 1995 with all Japanese American cars. It's like Honda went backwards for 10 years.
@19dawgs Civic. "It don't get 40mpg that my old Honda did. What happened ? Can anyone answer this question ?" Well first off, The newer civic you are driving is MUCH heavier than the older ones built in the 80's and 90's. This is due in part to many of the newer safety features honda had to add in to protect occupants in collisions far better than what was achieved in the past this was done by adding more weight in certain areas or the frame (crumple zones).
@19dawgs Secondly the 1.8L engine produces much more horsepower than some of the older ones, Top it off with powersteering, A/C, and many of the.
Shouldn't mind the MPG though, the ride is Extremely refined for a car in this category. It's also got alot more room compared to the 93 civic as well as much better ergonomics. And the extra safety is worth it, especially if there is the chance that you might get into a collision unexpectedly (hopefully you never will)
We started shipping them Exhaust systems and door sashes and moldings earlier this week. I'm crossing my fingers and praying it's a smooth transition.

Honda, if you're listening...
Build us "modular powered" cars with a recyclable chassis. Whereas we can transplant the four wheels with electric motors built into the wheel (ala Michelin's idea) and the battery system into a fresh chassis.
Since the engine needs to be pulled to replace the clutch, it wasn't much more to replace the engine, too. Transplanted it with one of those low miles Japanese engines. Total cost new clutch + engine swap = $1,200.

Everytime I see a new Accord V6 I start walking slower to catch every glimpse I can of it's beautiful body. Especially the Crystal Black Pearl model.

What?
The new Civic can still get a 40 - 42 freeway MPG figure (as long as ur driving good).
And u can be a led foot and still get 25 - 30 MPG in the city!
And thats nothing to complain about.
Especially considering how peppy the car is for a 140HP engine
which is also a big step up from your 106HP engine...
Honda hasnt lost there innovation
If anything Honda has kept and improved there innovation!
I mean u maybe average 2 or 3 miles less to the gallon.
R u rly that upset about it?

Got 54.8mpg from SF to LA.
Getting 44+mpg city/hwy.
