Only thing I see wrong is that your shoulders aren't behind the bar at the start of the lift. Thus, you aren't on your posterior chain enough. Sit back a bit more prior to initiating the lift, and its pretty much perfect.
i think his hips are too high (lack of flexibility), therefor he is putting extra unneeded stress on his knees. his chest could also be up more and shoulders pulled back further. i admire your effort though. GL
gd form apart from your feet, with the distance between your legs, u need to have your feet pointed slightly out not straight. also u let gravity take the bar u dont do the negative
He wasnt arching his back idiot - he was rotating his shoulders back. If the shoulders are still hunched over it is an incorrect lift under any international weightlifting standards. So grow a brain before you comment
mainly your hamstrings, gluteus, and erector spinae(lower back muscles and the ones that run along your spine). you could also be working some stabilizing muscles like your calves too

i usereverse grip wen deadlifting, i feel that u get a better hold, im 18 but im only like 5ft 2, nd about 115 pounds but i can dead lift about 245-250 is that good?
Your form is not bad with exception your cadence - try lowering the weight slower..made the same mistake in one of my deads a week ago - you get hurt if you go fast trust me - check out my clips, I am updating them weekly on here and my website - MR
Good. Provided your form has improved over time along with the load being lifted, you should be doing well. Keep it up. What program are you doing now (still SS?)?
@Darkrider6970 so when i start to lift the weight from the floor, should i feel a stretch in my hams? also, how can i ensure that my lower back is straight all the time? thank you.
If you feel fine leaning back that way then do it, I have seen other people lean back that much. It isn't like you are falling over. Looks good + correct to me.
Also, to everyone who is saying that he shouldn't lean back on lockout should read a strength training or anatomy book before giving bad advice. You definitely must lean back at lockout because if you stand straight up with the weight it puts a HUGE amount of stress on your vertebrae! Especially with 365 lbs on the bar...
I think you form is very strict and fluid. You may want to deadlift with a double overhand grip as well so you don't over train one side of your body (use straps if necessary). You can alternate your grip as well to train more evenly, i.e. flip you left hand and right hand from how you're deadlifting now. Great job overall that's a very impressive jump in weight!
leaning back when you get to the top corrects your spinal posture so your ready for the next lift, it isn't right or wrong, you can jsut throw it in there if you want to maximize the deadlift experience

Question: What muscle group(s) is deadlifting primarily done to build? Upper back?
Carkavias 2 years ago
There's no focus on a particular muscle group. Deadlifting requires a combination of dozens of muscles.
AndrewTraceur 2 years ago
Actually the core muscle it works out is the back, Additional muscles are the neck forearms and legs.

Good job, but you're a back injury waiting to happen
Darkrider6970 3 years ago
This was well over a year ago. DL is much improved and back is stronger than ever.

@Darkrider6970 Why?
america101010 7 months ago
1)Lower back rounding at the bottom.
2)Not setting up the hips/hamstrings well at the bottom of the movement.
3)Using mostly knee extension to perform the lift with only any hip drive included in the last quarter of the movement.
Honestly, not terrible form, but far from ideal.

He isn't a small guy, he should be able to handle that weight.
I think his form is pretty good and leaning back at the top is fine, IMO.

Leaning back isn't dangerous or wrong in any way.
Honken 4 years ago
Yes it is, not only that, it's still not considering a proper lift.

Putting your shoulders back is necessary, but the leaning shown in this video is not only excessive, but dangerous.
